Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 343: Finally Here
I told myself that I should wish the two of them well for the overall success of our plans; however, I found it so difficult for me to wish that they would enjoy their time together. It made me feel so conflicted inside, and I felt horrible about myself and the way that I was feeling.
"I think I’m about to lose my mind," I muttered to myself as I continued pacing around the room like a mad person. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Time seemed to crawl by so slowly, and I wondered just when the event would come to an end. I had never looked forward to seeing my sister so much in my life as I prayed for her to quickly return to my side. Before I knew what I was doing, I was standing in front of the door, and my hand was on the handle.
"Is there something that I can help you with?" asked a voice as I came face to face with Zain, who was standing right in front of the door. He looked quite surprised that I had emerged out of my hospital room, although technically I hadn’t stepped out of the room yet because it was impossible with Zain blocking my exit.
"Actually..." I began saying.
"Are you feeling unwell? Should I call for a doctor?" Zain asked before I could say anything.
"I’m feeling fine. I was just wondering..." I said as I decided to broach the topic.
"I’m sorry, but I cannot let you venture out of this room unaccompanied. If you want to go to the garden, I would gladly accompany you," Zain said while sounding quite robotic before he showed me a smile that reminded me that he was still human.
Surprisingly, I could feel that he sympathized with me, but of course, it wasn’t to the extent that he would disregard his boss’s order in order to fulfill my wishes. Just thinking of Bradon’s orders made me think of the man himself, and I wondered what he was doing right at that moment. I felt a twinge that resembled sadness and regret at the same time as I realized just how much I wanted to see him.
"I’ll accompany you..."
I turned at the unexpected voice that I had been yearning to hear. It probably wasn’t until that moment that I heard his voice that I realized just how much I missed the conversations that we shared.
“Bradon...” I murmured his name, as the man that I have been longing to see, came into view.
I wasn’t sure if I was more stunned at his unexpected appearance or simply too pleasantly surprised to care about anything else as I kept on staring at him. There was a small part of me that thought that he might vanish into thin air because he might not be anything more than the result of my own mind playing tricks on me.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" he said as he came to stand right in front of me.
Zain quickly stepped out of the way to give us some space while the other bodyguards pretended that they ceased to exist in our world.
"Why are you here?" I asked, the first words that came to mind in a small whisper. It didn’t make sense that Bradon was here, but there was no doubt that the man standing right in front of me was indeed him. Diana clearly mentioned that Anthony had to be with her at the event, so it didn’t make any sense that Brandon was here.
Unless...
"I’m here to see you, why else?" he said as if it was supposed to be completely obvious. I guess it would have made sense for him to be here to see me now that Diana wasn’t around if there wasn’t an event that he was supposed to attend in Anthony’s place.
"But aren’t you supposed to be..?" I asked, before trailing off.
The possibility didn’t occur to me until Bradon nodded his head slightly to confirm that what I thought was correct. My mouth hung open as I stared at him in absolute silence while I still struggled to believe that he had probably completely ditched the event in order to see me.
"I guess your sister is feeling very mad right about now," Bradon said before the corners of his beautiful lips curved up into a mischievous smirk that showed me that he didn’t feel an ounce of remorse.
I blinked my eyes a couple of times since I was still stunned by the fact that he had chosen to abandon my sister and the event altogether to come see me.
"Why do you look so surprised? I thought you would know by now that I never enjoyed attending any of those events," he said before he smiled very charmingly at me.
"Right," I murmured as I wondered what was supposed to happen now. Just when I was struggling to find the words to say to him, although there were so many things that we needed to talk about, Bradon suddenly took my hand.
"Shall we go on that walk that you were looking forward to?" he said invitingly as he gave my hand a slight squeeze.
...
"It’s good to see you again," I said to break the silence as I sat next to Bradon on the bench in the garden.
The garden, located on a high floor in the hospital building, overlooked the city, and I had always thought that the view was breathtaking, especially during sunset. However, I had to say that the evening view wasn’t at all bad, but that didn’t mean that I was in the mood right at that moment to admire the nice cityscape adorned with lights that sparkled right in front of me. After leading me to the garden, Bradon invited me to take a seat on a bench before sitting himself right next to me. I had no idea what to say to him, and as the silence became more stifling, I couldn’t believe that I said something so lame just to start a conversation with him.
