Chapter 786: Part 1: Tier-9 Sky Crocodile

5th Zone, Wilderness

It had been over 20 minutes since the last beast was killed. Jeremy was recovering in the meantime. He, like the others, was monitoring the wilderness ahead.

But he didn’t see any sign of a beast tide. He didn’t know whether the Beast Tide had been stopped or not. He turned around and looked toward the city wall.

He saw Governor Leon standing on top of the city wall, observing the situation. Jeremy thought the Governor was the only one who knew the truth.

Until then, they had to stay silent. Jeremy then withdrew his gaze and turned back toward the battlefield ahead.

On the other hand, Catherine Rosewood and the Beast Tamers belonging to her family were wondering about the battle as well.

Fortunately, they didn’t have any casualties. But the other family beast tamers were not as lucky; they had casualties. The injured had already been sent back to the hospital.

....

Governors Martin and Orion were watching the battle. The Tier-8 Beast Tamers had successfully killed the Tier-8 Corrupted beasts.

Both Governors were watching the unexplored region ahead. There were no signs of more corrupted beasts appearing.

They both thought the beast tide had stopped.

Robert Hill and the other Family Heads were discussing the situation. They too held the opinion that the Beast Tide was over.

They had faced more than one beast wave, but they had eliminated all types of beasts. There seemed to be no further danger.

"I think we can go back," Robert Hill said to the others.

While he was talking, only Head Harold remained silent. He was looking at the sky. He saw a change in the weather ahead.

The sky seemed to be getting darker. What was more, he found that dark clouds were approaching them slowly.

Head Harold felt something amiss while looking at those clouds. He turned toward the others, but they seemed nonchalant. They weren’t aware of the approaching danger.

He then shifted his gaze toward the Governors. Both Governors were talking to each other and seemed visibly relaxed. Seeing that, Head Harold decided to alert them.

Swoosh!

He disappeared from his spot and reappeared in front of the two Governors.

Governors Martin and Orion stopped talking when they noticed Head Harold’s sudden appearance. They saw that his face looked tense.

"What’s wrong?" Martin asked.

"Head Harold, what happened?" Orion added.

Head Harold took a deep breath before saying, "Governors, look at the approaching dark clouds ahead. They look ominous."

Thunder!

The next second, everyone heard the sound of thunder. The Beast Tamers stopped talking and looked toward the sky.

Governors Martin and Orion heard Harold’s words and looked at him before turning toward the horizon. They could tell that dark clouds were indeed coming toward them.

Not only that, but the clouds were bringing rain and windstorms. It didn’t seem to be a natural phenomenon at all.

Seeing this, the faces of the Governors changed drastically.

"Everyone, get ready!" Martin shouted.

Hearing that, the others reacted. They saw the dark clouds as well. Everyone then brought out their lifeline beasts.

"Head Harold, thank you for reminding us," Martin said.

"Don’t mention it," Harold replied. After saying that, he joined the others for battle.

Thunder!

A few minutes later, the dark clouds were right above their heads. Rain started pouring down the next second. It was not normal rain, but a rainstorm.

The family heads and their lifeline beasts were drenched. The two Governors were no exception.

They were looking at the dark sky with solemn expressions. Both of them felt a sense of crisis.

Thunderclap!

A thunderclap echoed. In that flash of light, everyone saw a massive beast over 50 feet in size.

Everyone witnessed the existence of the beast in that lightning flash. Its length seemed to be even greater than its height.

Martin and Orion immediately felt goosebumps all over their bodies. Their pupils shrank, and their faces showed fear for the first time in this battle.

Aaahhh!

A weak-minded old man among the family heads let out a blood-curdling scream.

He and the others recognized the beast. It was not an ordinary beast, but a Tier-9 beast.

While others were petrified with fear, the old man’s past trauma caused his mental defenses to collapse, and he shouted out loud in terror.

Robert Hill and the others were scared to death as well. They found it unbelievable.

"So, this is the mastermind behind the beast tide," Head Harold thought.

But it was not the time for them to be scared. If they didn’t act, the Tier-9 beast would annihilate everything in its path and raze the city to the ground.

Millions in the city would die. Head Harold thought it was time for them to seek help from the Human Alliance.

Boom!

A deafening noise rang out in the sky. The Tier-9 corrupted beast made its appearance.

A massive, giant sky crocodile with wings appeared. The mouth of the crocodile was breathing blue lightning fire. The next second, it shot a lightning attack from its maw.

Boom!

In one shot, blue lightning bolts landed on the ground. Upon contact, the land exploded.

The impact force from the explosion swept away the earth. As time passed, one explosion occurred after another.

The family heads and their lifeline beasts faced its wrath. The impact force was so powerful that it overturned the land. The force pushed the lifeline beasts backward.

There was only a one-rank gap between them, yet the difference in strength was vast.

Some of the lightning bolts fell on the lifeline beasts, injuring them. The Beast Tamers received the backlash and fell to the ground.

The sky crocodile hadn’t even started attacking seriously yet, but the powerful lightning bolts had already pushed the lifeline beasts onto the back foot.

Governors Martin and Orion had already sent an emergency request to the Human Alliance. They had found the reason for the earlier beast tides from the unexplored region.

Neither of them attacked yet. They were observing the Tier-9 Sky Crocodile. They knew the Tier-9 beast was intelligent, but they didn’t know its motive.

That was why no one was attacking it right now. If the Tier-9 beast was provoked, it could cause true havoc. They were hoping it would simply go back to the unexplored area.
