Star Gate-Chapter 1469: Low Profile Doesn’t Work Either (I)
“Of course, I’ll be sure to pass the word along.” Big Claw smiled, despite a flurry of fear and anxiety. “It will be a great boon to Dragon Observatory if the senior is willing to join us!”
I’m so damned unlucky! Why am I the one who gets the privilege of encountering someone so troublesome?
He couldn’t immediately discern what Li Hao had in mind.
“Don’t worry, I just need an identity here to cultivate for a while,” Li Hao transmitted. “Doing it this way will save me a bit of trouble. I’ll leave in a year, what is fellow daoist so alarmed about? Pretend ignorance to gain an exalted emperor friend, perhaps even more than one. But if you do not... I’m afraid that you won’t be able to enjoy any rewards that Dragon Observatory bequeaths in return!”
Big Claw sweated profusely. I know, or I would’ve made a report already!
“But senior...” he transmitted back with resignation. “These two already saw the other one leave. If his absence becomes prolonged and word of his death circulates... then they’ll certainly connect some dots!”
I can keep my mouth shut, but what about these two? One of them’s a first rank, the other’s a second rank. This is dicey no matter how you slice it! Won’t they suspect you when they hear about the other guy’s death?
And most importantly, I saw the incident unfold, as did they. I’ll be dragged into whatever develops from this!
Li Hao looked at the other two. The first rank was easy to kill, the second rank... was a bit thorny. Should he kill them all to ensure their silence?
Forget it, that’s not an appropriate reaction! That’s not the kind of person I am.
Even though the woman is preparing to kill New Martial powerhouses, she’s only doing so in pursuit of riches. It’s not like she has a personal vendetta against me or New Martial. She was even nice enough to ask me to join her!
In that case... I, Li Hao, am not a bad guy.
Blood qi abruptly surged up from the dao foundation site and a massive dragon coiled beneath the heavens. The two exalted emperors next to Li Hao jerked with surprise and delight.
“Dao foundation!” Joy seized the two and they ignored Li Hao. They furiously rushed into the giant dragon hovering in the sky.
Li Hao smiled and looked at Big Claw. “This will do, won’t it? Contemplating dao for a year isn’t that long, is it?”
Big Claw’s jaw dropped! Dao foundation! How was this possible? How could this person produce the echoes of past dao at a drop of a hat? It was clearly the work of his guest as the occurrence would be too much of a coincidence if not. He was stunned beyond belief!
Everything that was taking place here exceeded the imagination. Big Claw was even starting to regard his guest with fear. Was this person... a seventh rank emperor?? The echoes of dao at this site had almost fully faded away, how could they reappear so easily?!
This site had once belonged to a high rank exalted emperor; regular people were unable to summon anything from it.
“This place is sufficient for two low rank exalted emperors to cultivate at.” Li Hao smiled with a glance. “Powerhouses can’t be bothered and the two exalted emperors won’t give up the site to anyone weaker. Any fights or conflicts have nothing to do with us!
“Let’s go somewhere else, Big Claw. We’re weak and don’t need to pick a fight over this!
“Fellow daoists, I’ll be on my way now!” he called out to the other two. “This dao site can’t seem to support three people. I have no desire to vie for this opportunity since body dao is not a good match for my dao of death. I’m going to take a look at the other locales. I’ll see you later!”
His words made the other two quite happy. It was best if there was no competition for this site!
Even though the woman had recruited Li Hao to her cause moments ago, she wasn’t willing for him to share in the spoils either. She was also only a first rank, not a second rank. If a fight broke out, she might be the one excluded.
Although she felt that she could match Li Hao and the young man might not be able to gain an advantage over her, it was always better for there to be less trouble than more.
“Then I’ll see you in a year...” she hastily transmitted to Li Hao. “What might I call the fellow daoist?”
“I am the Exalted Hao Moon Emperor!”
“My name is Mo. You can call me Ancestress Mo or Fellow Daoist Mo...”
“Very good. Thank you, Big Sis Mo. I’ll come back in a year!” Li Hao chuckled and walked away with a dashing flair.
“Will that person... tell others about this after he leaves...” the second rank exalted emperor said solemnly when Li Hao was gone.
Echoes of dao had suddenly appeared here, this was an immense stroke of fortune. In addition, not much fanfare had resulted from that development and it’d happened right next to them. Although many exalted emperors traveled to and fro this location, there might be no one visiting for a while if they were lucky.
The only cause of concern was that this person would blab about what he’d seen after he left!
“It’s hard to say, but this person’s bearing is uncommon.” Ancestress Mo shook her head after some thought. “He doesn’t seem to be from a minor world, but there is no strength from a dao universe about him either. Since he’s gone, we should make full use of the opportunity to comprehend what is before us!
“There’s nothing we can do if word of it really does leak. Those above third rank shouldn’t be interested in visiting. Third ranks... may not be so inclined either since this is only a portion of dao foundation, not all of it...”
They could just try their luck!
The second rank exalted emperor turned his focus to dao comprehension. Immersed within, he lost himself in profound mysteries!
He was so agitated that he could barely contain himself. It wasn’t any exalted emperor that had a chance to receive tutelage from high rank exalted emperors. There were only so many of them in Red Moon and Skyward Region. Each of them were premier existences. Why would they bother themselves with chaos wanderers?
......
Big Claw was stunned to the point of dazed numbness. He strongly suspected that the one in front of him was a concealed high rank exalted emperor—his guest was terrifying!
Li Hao grinned radiantly and glanced at the other. Based on his determination, this person wouldn’t dare run his mouth. And when it came to his loyalty to Dragon Observatory... It could only be limited when it involved a faction that wasn’t centered around a world.
......
The chaos universe.
A warship hurtled through the unbounded chaos at an exceedingly fast pace. Two infamous New Martial exalted emperors studiously evaded various points of danger. They would rather take a longer way than expose themselves to any risk.
Prudence was the name of the game! Was anything else more important than being slow and steady? 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Such were Celestial Pole’s thoughts. He really did think nothing was more important than ensuring the safety of one’s hide. While the Pagoda King was likewise minded, he’d been born a slave. There was a streak of viciousness amidst his terror of death. It was because of that that he was able to become one of the few exalted emperors out of those who’d surrendered to New Martial.
New Martial had almost fully eliminated all of its enemies; it was a testament to the Pagoda King’s abilities that he could survive to present day.
The two hovered over the warship. There were no changes in their environment. The Pagoda King looked calm and stretched out his senses. His brows knit together, but he didn’t say a word. It was Celestial Pole who crossed his arms with displeasure.
His replica didn’t seem to be moving anymore. That wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
“What thoughts do you have in mind?” he asked after a long period of time.
“This will be a close shave with death!” the Pagoda King transmitted back.
Celestial Pole curled his lip. A close shave? I think it’ll be even worse than that. It’s been a month since we set out, but we haven’t seen shit. We’re safe enough, but that also means that danger is coming for us. This is a very troublesome matter!
As for whatever the supreme left with me... who knows if it’s his replica or a homing device? Who the heck knows, but I know that we’re probably bait.
We’re bait for the enemy!
Screw the supreme!
The key was, they weren’t even safe bait. New Martial had more than the two of them in the universe at large, so the supreme wouldn’t be keeping an eye on them at all times. They weren’t the only bait and they weren’t fishing for the biggest fish.
If bigger fish took the bait anywhere else, then... the two of them would be in trouble.
Was Celestial Pole a fool?
Not at all, and the Pagoda King even less so.
On the contrary, these two were extremely shrewd. If it wasn’t for that, there would be no place for them among the New Martial crazies. They weren’t the strongest and often needed rescuing. They didn’t count as part of the inner circle.
They would’ve been done for a long time ago if they weren’t more shrewd!
Celestial Pole probed their surroundings as well, mumbling after a while, “Go sleep! There will be no danger lately. People who want to stop us are stopped in return. Either they’re not going to do anything to us, or they’re going to take us out with one blow!”
The Pagoda King inclined his head. Those were his thoughts as well. They shouldn’t meet with any danger at present and their enemies might even be keeping them under surveillance instead, wanting to follow them to Silver Moon.
Silver Moon was born of New Martial. If their enemies could seize the world, they might be able to identify some of New Martial’s and even core origin dao’s weaknesses. Perhaps there was someone watching them right now.
The two powerhouses didn’t say anything else; worries crept into their mind. They had to continue forward despite knowing full well that they were being dangled in front of their enemies. Although Celestial Pole liked to talk tough and possessed a premier powerhouse for a father, he was afraid of defying the supreme’s orders as well.
The supreme wasn’t truly as friendly or benevolent as he appeared to be. He was one who hid a knife in his smile!
Are you looking to die when you run away as soon as you encounter danger? New Martial raised you!
According to the Human King’s words, however much one received was however much one must pay out. Those who were taller would hold up the sky when it collapsed, but they were not to shirk their duty when they were called upon. Even if they knew full well that they would die, they were to die on the frontlines!
Those who retreated, those who avoided battle, and those who turned traitor would be killed. It didn’t matter what their identity or status was. If it was the supreme that deserted on the cusp of battle, the Human King would cut him down all the same. It was all for New Martial!
As for resurrection...
It was possible to reverse yin into yang, but each resurrection depleted some of the Human King’s core origin. He wouldn’t do so for no reason. In fact, he would suffer a chaos tribulation if he resurrected too many. Although the Ash Emperor could swallow the phenomenon, severe consequences might develop if the tribulation was too strong.
A multitude of thoughts were jumbled in their minds.
