Star Gate-Chapter 1467: Comprehension, Intimidation (II)
Li Hao quickly awoke in the present. The look in his eyes shifted and he raised his head at the sky. The chaos tribulation didn’t descend, but he’d felt for a split second that had he continued conversing with the past, something extreme would’ve happened!
Tracing the past was already to defy the heavens. Holding a conversation with past powerhouses was even more unfathomable. And the key was, Li Hao found that he’d lost a lot of his lifespan with only a simple exchange. An exalted emperor’s vitality was nearly unlimited, but he could clearly feel in this moment that he’d slightly aged compared to how he’d been before the conversation.
His body was young since he’d started over his cultivation. He was only eighteen at the moment, yet many years had been taken off his life all the same.
Death qi parted around the young man as he awoke, revealing his true nature!
The two exalted emperors beside him looked at Li Hao, puzzled. The echoes of dao on this person were a bit unique—a bit complicated. They observed him for a while and realized that they couldn’t see through him.
What kind of path did this person walk?
Next to Li Hao, Big Claw barely breathed. He was still wrapped in shock and incomprehension. Many could kill a first rank exalted emperor; he could list quite a few names offhand from Dragon Observatory who could accomplish the deed.
But to kill an exalted emperor due to one word of conflict, that was exceedingly terrifying. And even more critical was that his guest only displayed the power of a first rank exalted emperor!
Big Claw hardly believed that was all there was to his guest now. The young man had to be fourth rank, at least! Was there an ulterior motive behind his visit to Skyward? Should he report this to Dragon Observatory?
Big Claw waffled over his next steps; Li Hao completely ignored the rest of the group.
His body shook and blood qi thrummed. Great dao surrounded him—there was even the strength of an exalted emperor drifting through the surroundings. It vanished as Li Hao absorbed it all!
The young man purified it, setting less than one-third aside and sending the rest into his acupoints.
He thought back to everything that had happened in this instance of tracing the past. Then, the young man strengthened his body according to the dragon exalted emperor’s tutelage. Some of his sealed dao meridians opened once more.
He’d opened 360 dao meridians to begin with, now more were excavated. Massive dao meridians sank into his river of dao like they were agile dragons. Li Hao was suddenly in the mood to transform his meridians of the body into a world barrier!
That could replace the sword, seal, and tree in their current functions. He’d promised them that they would become a world unto themselves in the future. As of now, they were part of his river of life and death. It would be very hard for them to extract themselves from his river the longer this remained the case.
It was better to take advantage of the circumstances at hand and bring his body forward as a medium for the river. He could create another world for these three in the future.
As Li Hao trained his dao meridians of the body, he also gave thought to the future. Skyward was his land of opportunity; many high rank exalted emperors had once resided here. He’d reaped a rich harvest after one tracing of the past. The dao lecture from a high rank exalted emperor was more invigorating for him than swallowing an entire mid world!
The most exciting of all was that there were four dao sites in Dragon Observatory territory alone. They were just one-tenth of the southern region in Skyward. Just how many high rank exalted emperors had once called this world home??
Whether it was high rank or other rank, any exalted emperor was a stunning character. They were part of a major world, but willing to share their great dao with others. This was where Li Hao’s fortunes lay!
What could be more tempting than this?
As for consuming his lifespan, that was an insignificant consequence!
Li Hao was highly exhilarated and shocked by his experience. So the master of this world really had been a ninth rank exalted emperor, and one of spatial dao!
Space...
Li Hao had arrived on Skyward after setting foot through a world gate. Had Dragon Observatory set up the formation, or did it exist to begin with?
In addition, was Skyward truly how it met the eye? It had been ruled by an immense exalted emperor of space. Ninth rank boggled the mind; could he trust what he saw? Were there other planes hovering around him? Why had an entire major world been uprooted and why had this master of the world gathered premier existences from a variety of daos?
Did they wish to discuss and share their insights regarding dao?
Li Hao didn’t think so.
His blood qi continued to rise; he’d compressed the Suncloud exalted emperor into individual chunks of dao crystals. He didn’t care about the dao heritage of such a weakling. Li Hao abandoned all of his previous opponent’s knowledge and retained only the energy he needed.
This was still an exalted emperor at the end of the day. This energy could ensure the opening of more dao meridians as he cultivated. Each meridian that he opened would be sunk into the river of life and death and turned into its wall!
Not only that, but he also incorporated blood qi into the river. In doing so, his strength grew noticeably stronger, despite him not advancing in cultivation level.
The young man was quite excited by the gains. It was harder to progress once he reached exalted emperor. To set foot into second or third rank was even harder. While it wouldn’t take thousands of years for him, it would still require a few years.
But if he could keep up this rate of improvement, he might be able to advance to third level soon. The caveat was, he needed to possess enough understanding of the great dao.
“Fellow daoist!” The woman suddenly addressed Li Hao as he was deep in thought. “Have you comprehended something?”
“Just a little.” He smiled at her.
“......” The mystified woman looked around doubtfully. Really? Countless people had visited this site before, but very few had walked away with anything for their time and effort.
It’s your first time here and your first attempt. You’ve supposedly gained something without activating the site? That’s bold talk!
But the young man’s blood qi had indeed rippled moments ago. It was difficult to determine the truth of the matter.
“I can tell that fellow daoist has not become an exalted emperor for long. You have a severe lack of comprehension of dao and accumulation of resources!” she transmitted, returning to her original goal. “We wanderers are preparing to join hands and do something soon. If fellow daoist is willing, you can join us! This will be a great stroke of fortune for you!”
“What are you going to do?” Li Hao responded curiously. You wanderers aren’t all that strong, but you want to get up to some other business? What?
“Does fellow daoist know Red Moon Region?”
“A little.” Red Moon Region, again? He couldn’t seem to shake off New Martial.
“Another war has broken out in Red Moon Region. We’ve received word that anyone who hunts down a third rank or lower exalted emperor of Yin and Yang major world will receive ten million dao crystals in reward!
“A mid rank’s bounty is even more incredible—the one who accomplishes that can take up residence in a dao universe and study Red Moon’s dao. The Red Moon master is an unfathomable existence at eighth rank!
“Red Moon has stood in the chaos for many years and possesses deep foundations. They’ve always fought alone, but have sent messages to many chaos wanderers this time. It’s clear to see that New Martial is levying a lot of pressure on them!
“In addition, they’ve also priced an astronomical bounty on a Yin and Yang vassal world! Apparently it’s just a desolate backwater that vanished in the chaos fifty years ago. Whoever finds it and brings it to Red Moon will receive a mid world in return...”
Li Hao inwardly raised an eyebrow. Now that was quick. It was to be expected that there would be a reaction from Red Moon, but he’d only just arrived on Skyward. How was Silver Moon already on the wanted list?
“So fellow daoist means that we will be allying together against the New Martial powerhouses?” Li Hao frowned.
“We’re just part of the team,” replied the woman. “It’s not only Red Moon, but the various factions of Skyward and region masters, even some of the powerhouses in neighboring major worlds, that have their sights set on Yin and Yang! 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
“That world is quite unusual. Their Human King has risen to seventh rank in a short one thousand years. He can even kill a seventh rank exalted emperor—he’s terrifying! There are even rumors that if he combines himself with that Ash Emperor, he’ll wield the strength of an eighth rank!
“Fellow daoist should be aware of how difficult it is for an exalted emperor to cultivate! Any master of a major world has emerged from the cream of the crop after untold trials and hardships. The Human King is no one special, why has he improved so quickly?
“It’s also said that New Martial’s core origin universe is highly unusual...” The woman imparted a great deal of information. “I can see that the fellow daoist is young and unafraid of danger. If you are willing, I can introduce you to the rest and have you join the alliance of wandering exalted emperors. Red Moon will surely reward us richly if we can kill a New Martial powerhouse. One risk will be enough for us to rest for millions of years!”
Li Hao was immensely surprised that Red Moon was borrowing external strength against New Martial. Had they sensed grave danger, or had they lost confidence?
It was a war between worlds and Red Moon had been the invaders... but now recruited chaos wanderers against its targets. This wasn’t good news as he knew that New Martial was very poor!
The Human King was a complete spendthrift and immediately used up whatever resources he laid hands on!
According to his words, it would only serve to benefit the enemy if he didn’t use it himself. Therefore, New Martial had almost no foundations to speak of. Red Moon could spend money to recruit people, but New Martial could not. It was too poor to do so.
Chaos wanderers weren’t a strong group—most of them were weaker than third rank. But a horde of ants could be the death of an elephant, not to mention that not everyone in New Martial was a high rank exalted emperor. There were very few high rank exalted emperors, in fact. There weren’t even that many mid ranks. Most of them were low ranks and resided on Yin and Yang.
It was just that some of them had walked out of the world in recent years to temper themselves in the chaos universe. There might even be their people on Skyward.
Li Hao frowned lightly when his thoughts traveled here. He felt gratitude toward New Martial and Silver Moon had originated from New Martial. It was clear to see that Red Moon was unaware that Silver Moon had ascended to a mid world, since they were offering a mid world in return.
A mid world was a significant temptation for a peak third rank or fourth rank exalted emperor.
“Why has fellow daoist approached me?” Li Hao transmitted back. “Based on what that one said, I am a New Martial spy. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll betray you?”
It’s so weird that she’s suddenly approaching me. That guy said I was a plant! Aren’t you guys worried at all?
