Chapter 44: MMA Fighter

Benedict looked at the cuts caused by the explosion of glass shards from Charlotte’s clone earlier.

Every single wound had healed, even the shards of glass embedded in his skin slid out gently. His skin immediately grew back, sealing the injuries without a trace.

Just what kind of Healer does the Solas Academy have? And who exactly was this character? Someone with power like this couldn’t possibly be just an ordinary NPC.

Benedict straightened up, glancing behind him. No, above him. Up in the sky, he saw Charlotte flying.

She wasn’t alone.

She was accompanied by dozens of her clones, identical copies of herself, each with three wings on either side, fused glass horns, and scythe made of glass that caught and reflected sunlight, making them look like celestial beings.

The Academy students had already struggled to fight one Charlotte. Now, there were dozens in the air.

"You’ve got to be kidding me," Benedict muttered in disbelief.

The swarm of clones instantly charged toward the hypnotized nobles under Benedict’s control and the academy students. One Charlotte broke off from the pack, heading straight for him.

Slash!

Benedict dodged the scythe by a hair’s breadth and countered with a direct punch to her face using his skeletal hand.

The blow shattered Charlotte’s face into shards of glass, but within seconds, the shards reformed, restoring her appearance.

"Regeneration, too?" Benedict chuckled, irritation growing.

He continued dodging Charlotte’s swings. The attacks felt slower, easier to avoid, likely because he was facing a clone rather than the real one. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Activating his True Sight again, Benedict saw it, a flickering yellow light beneath Charlotte’s glass armor.

Charlotte’s scythe swept around his head just as he was distracted by the light.

But before she could pull it tight to take his head, Benedict raised his skeletal hand and caught the scythe with ease.

With one strong squeeze, he crushed it.

"So that’s it... I understand it now," Benedict murmured with a grin.

He struck directly at the flickering yellow light in her chest.

Bam!

Charlotte shattered instantly into glass shards, this time without any explosion. The fragments simply dissolved into the air, vanishing like dust on the wind.

Benedict now understood, the clones had flickering yellow lights inside them, while the real Charlotte’s light was bright and steady.

He looked up. The dozens of clones had multiplied further. Students who managed to destroy a clone were immediately caught in a violent explosion of glass shards.

Scanning the battlefield, Benedict studied each clone one by one. All he saw were those flickering yellow lights.

Until... in the distance, he spotted something different... a yellow light, incredibly bright, with no physical body, racing toward one of the towers in the noble district.

Benedict instantly knew what Charlotte was after.

He sprinted, leaping over rooftops toward the tower.

The tower, made of stone, overlooked the noble district. As he climbed the stone wall in one leap and scaled it to the top, he saw her.

A breathtakingly beautiful woman stood there, with white hair and grey eyes. Her eyes were closed, her hands folded, and she was murmuring softly under her breath.

Hundreds of blue bubbles materialized around her, floating off toward the battle.

Benedict realized at once, this was the Healer who had been helping them all along.

And now, the real Charlotte’s scythe was circling the white-haired woman’s head.

Benedict lunged.

"Watch out!" he shouted, thrusting his skeletal hand toward Charlotte’s weapon.

The woman’s eyes flew open, shock flashing across her face. The hundreds of bubbles she had been producing shattered all at once.

Crack!

Thankfully, Benedict reached the scythe in time, crushing it in one grip.

He swung a punch at Charlotte’s face, and for the first time, she looked genuinely caught off guard that he had figured out her plan.

She had created all those clones just to slip away, searching for the Healer who had been an infuriating thorn in her side since the start of the battle.

If it weren’t for this white-haired woman constantly healing her opponents, Charlotte would have already won, dozens of times over.

Irritated, Charlotte conjured glass from her hands to block Benedict’s punch. The barrier shattered, but it was enough to halt his attack.

Her scythe reformed, slashing toward Benedict’s head.

He ducked low, closing the distance quickly to deliver an uppercut.

Charlotte stepped back, nearly losing her balance, but recovered in an instant and shot upward into the air, retreating.

Benedict clicked his tongue in annoyance from atop the tower.

Glancing at the white-haired woman with grey eyes, he saw that she was still frozen from the shock of having the enemy appear right behind her.

"Focus on healing me," Benedict said quietly.

The woman nodded, closing her eyes again and folding her hands. Soft, gentle murmurs reached his ears.

Hundreds of blue bubbles appeared, surrounding Benedict.

He leapt into the air. Instead of falling, a large blue bubble formed beneath his feet each time, giving him platforms to jump higher and higher.

Benedict charged again. He had only his fists to rely on, bare hands against someone who looked like an angel.

Charlotte gathered sunlight again, focusing it into a deadly laser aimed straight at him.

He dodged, but a fraction of a second too late, the beam tore through his right arm.

(Critical damage! You have taken 50 damage! Be careful! HP: 250/250 → 200/250)

Benedict didn’t even flinch. The surrounding blue bubbles immediately drifted into his wound, sealing it.

(You have been healed for 50 HP! HP: 200/250 → 250/250)

He grinned. These blue bubbles really were absurdly overpowered.

Charlotte’s eyes widened in shock at his lack of pain, and she instinctively tried to retreat, wings flaring.

But Benedict was already there, driving his fist hard into her face.

Bam!!

Her face shattered, leaving half of it gone. There was no blood, just the smooth, horrifying surface of glass.

But that grotesque sight didn’t last long. In the distance, she shattered one of her own clones, guiding the shards to restore her face.

Benedict instantly understood her plan. It was simple he just had to keep hitting her, left and right, until she ran out of clones.

He almost laughed. He felt like he had a natural talent for fighting. Why hadn’t he become an MMA fighter in his past life?

Shaking his head, he locked eyes with Charlotte again. She seemed to grow stronger with every clone she absorbed.

Benedict smiled sharply, taunting her.

If he kept fighting, and kept getting healed by this S-class Healer.

Then, of course...

In the end, he would win.
