Chapter 320: Lingering Ominous

Ruan Chanchan hurriedly unlocked the new level of the supermarket by using the emergency feature since Xiao Xi was not with her at the moment, and took out the hand warmers and the jacket that could block the chill. Only when she pulled on the warm and fluffy jacket did she feel slightly better. She wondered what was going on with this tribe; though she knew that the Killer Whale Tribe was indeed riddled with troubles, she never thought that it was this bad.

Who said that this tribe was like a dream come true? That joining this tribe would be really good. The more she stayed here, the more she realised that the chances of her turning into a popsicle were higher than her reaching new heights. Ruan Chanchan shivered and immediately planted a body warmer on her skin. She wondered what was going on with those people who wanted to join this tribe. What was so great about turning into a popsicle?

Shaking her head, Ruan Chanchan lay back down on the soft beast skin while avoiding the injured area.

While Ruan Chanchan was resting, Rong Xian headed to his mother’s cave. When he arrived there, the elderly woman calmly raised her head and looked at her son. The second she saw her son, Mother Rong raised her head and smiled at her. "You are here."

"Mother," greeted Rong Xian. He walked inside the cave and then took a look at the countless useless things that were lying in front of his mother. "What are you doing with these things?" He glanced at the many seaweeds and clams that had been served in front of his mother.

Mother Rong smiled and then said in a low voice, "What else? Our tribe relies on nothing but hunting. Usually, our tribe’s people would go down to the sea and bring me some things that they find useful, but what can I even do with these things? " She moved her hand over the things that were lying in front of her. "These seagrass smells fishy and I cannot use them, not to mention they taste bitter." She had taken a bite of the seagrass, and it didn’t taste even the slightest bit good. And the clams. "And these things? They are rock hard. The young ones will not be able to eat it."

Mother Rong shook her head. She was thinking of developing her tribe even further, but how was she supposed to do that when she couldn’t even utilise her strongest totem warriors? Many of the tribes believed that their tribe was doing better than their own, but what they had no idea about was that beneath the strong tribe’s facade, many of the cubs were dying because they were not able to eat properly.

The meat that the totem warriors hunted was hard and fishy, while the adults were understanding enough to grit their teeth and continue eating the meat, the young ones were not as understanding. Many of the children in the tribe would often refuse to eat the meat, which led to the deaths of countless children.

This had caused quite a lot of trouble in the tribe.

"I wonder what is going on in the heads of those kids, why would they choose starvation instead of eating meat?" This was something that Mother Rong could not understand. Wasn’t it good to have enough to eat? Why do they have so many demands? When she was young, she remembered that the conditions of the tribe were not this good. Back then, it would be good enough if they could get anything to eat. As long as they could survive, there was nothing that they wouldn’t even think of refusing to eat meat.

Who cared if the meat tasted fishy!?

What was important was to stay alive.

Rong Xian also did not understand this sudden rebellion of the children from the tribe. He knew that the children were refusing to eat, but what he didn’t know was that while they were still trying to make the cubs survive, there were winds that were blowing in the wrong direction. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Are you sure?" A young cub looked at the woman in front of her. She blinked her eyes and then questioned in a low voice, "If I stop eating, will I be able to eat something this good?"

She looked at the steamed meat that the woman was holding in her hands. She gulped and hesitantly asked, "What if my mother gets angry?"

"Then," the woman in front of the little kid smiled and said, "Then you can forget about eating these good things. These things are something that you need to fight for. If you cannot even do that, then there is no point in even thinking about eating these things."

As she finished speaking, she slowly got to her feet and then started walking away.

"Wait!" The little cub was still young; when tempted with something good, she couldn’t stop herself from falling into the pit that was being dug in front of her. She walked over to the woman and, in her childish voice, said to her, "I will do it. I want to eat good things as well."

The little kid was filled with the temptation of eating something good and couldn’t stop herself from agreeing to the demands that the woman had placed in front of her.

Seeing this, the woman curled her lips and nodded. "That’s right; if you want to get something good, then you need to work hard as well."

After she finished speaking, she raised her hand and patted the little kid on the head.

The little kid didn’t understand what was going on or whether she was being used. All she knew was that she was being praised.

She smiled happily and then said, "Thank you, Aunt!"

The child then turned on her feet and walked back to the cave, where she lived. The woman watched the little kid leave and chuckled before disappearing with a snap of her fingers. And as she disappeared, the black smoke that lingered behind her still had the same kind of ominous feeling behind it.
