SSS Demon King System: The Rise of a Dying Extra-Chapter 63: The Shadow Guardians. (1)
On each column, there was a goblin.
They were different from the ones he had seen in the camp.
These were black in color, in fact, they seemed to be formed by tangible shadows.
They weren’t really goblins, rather magical projections.
Each one had different weapons, made of a black metal that seemed to have a life of its own.
The goblins’ eyes shone as if they were tiny red suns.
Lloyd felt the danger instantly, they were about to attack.
"Sieg," the boy ordered, just as the goblins jumped toward him.
The enormous warrior acted quickly, he interposed himself in the goblins’ trajectory and swung his gigantic sword at full speed, drawing a semicircle.
The goblins were faster this time, they didn’t let themselves be hit directly by the warrior, protecting themselves with their weapons.
They went backward. One of them took advantage of his acceleration, and bounced off one of the columns, propelling himself again toward the warrior.
He carried a weapon very similar to a macuahuitl, but made of black metal.
With that weapon, the goblin made a descending cut right toward Siegfried, who easily defended the attack with his great sword.
However, a goblin behind him attacked him with a thrust of his spear.
This time it was Lloyd who defended Siegfried, the young man moved his hand, while at the same time creating an ice sword in it.
His sword managed to cut the spear before it impacted Siegfried’s side.
"Let’s see how they handle a bit of magic," the boy commented while lowering his hand.
Suddenly, several ice stakes came out of the ground and extended outward.
Unlike the goblins Lloyd had faced in the camp, these seemed to be more agile and fast.
As soon as they saw the ice they jumped backward, even those who had gotten closer had managed to escape in time, showing they were quite fast.
"Well, this might be fun," the boy said while adopting a guard stance of Belphegor’s style.
Siegfried, for his part, propelled himself forward at dizzying speed, traversing the ice spikes as if nothing, turning them to dust in the process.
With a quick descending cut, Siegfried attacked the goblin that had attacked him with the macuahuitl before.
His enormous sword descended with all the warrior’s force, weight and acceleration, a colossal blow that caused a shockwave when blocked by the enemy’s weapon.
The goblin had to grab his weapon by the part holding the blades, since the blow was so strong it was necessary to use at least both arms to block it.
However, even so, when Siegfried put more force with his weapon, the goblin couldn’t withstand so much weight, and his arms gave way.
The warrior’s sword pierced through the goblin’s "flesh," splitting it in half in an instant.
Upon doing so, the goblin’s body vanished, becoming a cloud of shadows.
Right at that moment, another goblin lunged at Siegfried from behind, he used two blades, and launched a cross-shaped cut toward his neck.
Having made the attack just at the same time Siegfried was attacking another, the goblin connected his blow.
However, that attempt to cut his enemy’s neck was useless, because while he managed to land his blow, the wound regenerated in an instant.
At the same time, Siegfried turned around, cutting the goblin in half with a horizontal blow that pierced through him and divided his body in two. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Meanwhile, Lloyd was also fighting.
The goblin with the broken spear was quite simple to kill.
The latter threw himself at Lloyd wielding the part of the handle he still held in his hand.
Lloyd had acted quickly, moving to one side letting the stick the goblin was using pass by.
With a beautiful blow, the boy leaned forward while launching a thrust at the goblin’s heart, piercing his chest.
However, the boy realized that didn’t seem sufficient to defeat him, after all it didn’t seem those goblins were really living beings.
They seemed like magical projections of darkness or something similar.
So they didn’t have organs like a heart.
However, the boy realizing this instantly, didn’t hesitate to make his sword descend downward, thus cutting the goblin.
Upon doing so, the goblin vanished becoming shadows, making Lloyd come to the conclusion that to defeat the goblins, you had to do them a determined amount of damage.
Perhaps they had something similar to video game health bars.
Though it wasn’t too difficult to defeat them.
Then, the young man raised his sword and made a diagonal cut.
He didn’t hit the air, that blow wasn’t purposeless, the boy had felt the danger, and seen how a projectile approached.
He quickly deflected the projectile with his ice sword, and the projectile returned to the goblin’s hands.
It was a boomerang, made of that same black metal that composed all those goblins’ weapons.
"Interesting," the boy commented while getting back on guard.
That goblin was armed with a machete and a boomerang.
It was a curious combination.
Then, the goblin sent the boomerang again with overwhelming force.
The object pierced through the air spinning on itself, however, it wasn’t going directly for Lloyd.
But the boy didn’t let himself be fooled, he knew boomerangs returned to their owner, and could be used to attack the enemy from behind.
But just at the moment Lloyd turned, following the boomerang’s movement with his gaze, the goblin took advantage to attack.
The goblin attacked with a descending cut at Lloyd, however, almost as if the boy had predicted that movement, he moved his wrist thus blocking the machete’s cut with his ice sword.
While creating another ice weapon in his other hand, thus deflecting the boomerang, the ice sword that had blocked the machete began to spread frost over the latter.
The frost grew until becoming ice stakes that completely pierced through the goblin’s body, which became, like the rest of the goblins that had been defeated, shadows.
"Easy," the boy commented while making the ice constructions explode, making them disappear. "This trial isn’t a big deal."
Lloyd commented, calmly.
However, the mission still hadn’t been completed, there was no notification saying he had defeated the guardians.
Moreover, the shadows into which the goblins had vanished still remained in the place, as if they hadn’t completely dispersed.
The trial still hadn’t ended.
