SSS Demon King System: The Rise of a Dying Extra-Chapter 62: Exploring the Cave. (2)
Magical crystals were as their name indicated, minerals capable of retaining magical power.
These minerals were used for all kinds of things.
To create artifacts, as magical batteries, or in magical technology.
They were quite valuable since their uses were many, there would never be an excess of magical crystals.
They were always useful.
Lloyd smiled while walking toward the lake’s shore.
He had two options at that moment, he could save the minerals and then sell them, or consume them.
It was an important dilemma, which was better, money or power?
Normally Lloyd would have chosen power.
However, his swamp of gluttony was already absorbing the charred goblin corpses.
You could say it was already feeding.
Moreover, while he wasn’t poor, he also wasn’t rich.
His family lost much prestige, so even being one of the most powerful families in the kingdom of Avalon, they didn’t have that much money.
Moreover, he specifically was an outcast. He was on another continent and legally dead.
Much of his fortune had been stolen, and even if he recovered it, it was still very little.
Money was important, both in that world and on Earth, and without doubt if he wanted to survive he would need a lot.
Moreover, money could become power in the future, after all with his knowledge of the novel, he could easily invest his fortune wisely.
"Yes, I definitely think I choose money," Lloyd then concluded, while the swamp of gluttony slid over the lake and began to swallow everything.
Both the water and the magical crystals, everything was swallowed by the swamp.
Lloyd had to light a fire in his hand to be able to illuminate the cave again, since the crystals no longer lit it.
"Huh?" Lloyd said confused.
At that moment, his gaze rested on the bottom of the lake.
Now that there were no more magical crystals, strange engravings on the stone were revealed.
It reminded Lloyd of Aztec or Mayan symbols.
"Mmm, maybe I should investigate," the boy said to himself.
It seemed intriguing, and perhaps it was the real reason the system had sent him to explore that cave.
After reflecting a bit, Lloyd came to the conclusion it was a good option to go investigate.
"Sieg, come out," the boy said, while Siegfried emerged from the swamp again.
Lloyd wasn’t foolish, if he jumped from so high he would surely break his legs, it was better to use Siegfried as "means of transport."
"Take me down," the boy ordered calmly.
What was once a hero, took Lloyd by his shirt collar and put his master on his shoulders.
The young man held on tight, when at that instant, Siegfried jumped downward.
"Yahoooo!" Lloyd screamed while descending toward the bottom of the lake.
Without doubt it was a fun experience, though the fun lasted little.
As soon as Siegfried landed on the ground, the rock cracked, so finally the ground gave way and broke completely.
"Uwaaaaaa!" the boy exclaimed.
The laughter had turned into a scream of desperation.
Suddenly, Siegfried and Lloyd were falling into a dark void, whose end couldn’t be seen.
Lloyd very quickly regretted the decision he had made.
Perhaps jumping so recklessly hadn’t been the best decision he had made in his life.
But unfortunately, it was already too late to lament.
Between screams, Lloyd regained his composure, he quickly lit a flame to be able to observe what was around him.
The darkness of that abyss was purged, consumed by an intense white light.
Suddenly what the veil of ominous shadows wanted to hide was revealed.
Multiple debris falling with him, rocky walls around him like a tunnel.
Then those walls disappeared, leaving Lloyd in a larger void, with a great space.
"What the hell?" Lloyd asked himself with confusion, while looking around, seeing only a great void.
The boy acted quickly, he unsummoned Siegfried to summon something else with the swamp of gluttony.
He used all the organic material at his disposal to create a giant bird under his feet.
It was a black bird, made of a viscous substance, which quickly raised its wings and began to fly toward Lloyd.
The young man landed on the bird, and the impact of the fall was absorbed by the properties of that viscous matter.
"Phew... finally safe," Lloyd said finally with some calm.
Then, he began to fly over that underground place.
What was that place?
The light became more intense, showing an immense grotto.
It was an enormous space, however, as Lloyd descended, he could observe what seemed like the "bottom" of that place.
"Mmmm? What’s that?" It was then that Lloyd spotted something curious.
It was what appeared to be ancient ruins.
Several columns rose, though most were broken.
What stood out most was a stone arch, which was also destroyed.
In front of it were engravings on the ground similar to those at the bottom of the lake.
"Mmm, how curious," the boy said, while beginning to descend with the "bird."
The creature landed in front of the ruins, and Lloyd put it back inside the swamp of gluttony.
"Mmm, how interesting, what kind of place could this be?" the boy asked himself curiously while approaching the ruins.
In the novel ancient civilizations were mentioned, but they weren’t detailed too much.
Moreover this didn’t directly seem like the ruins of a civilization, since there were only four columns, the destroyed arch and the engraving on the ground.
Everything around that was nothing more than the irregular stone of the cave, as if only that construction had been built.
The young man took a few steps toward the ruins to see them more closely.
What most intrigued him were the remains of the ruins.
"Mmm, I wonder if the mages Lucia assassinated were investigating this," the boy wondered while taking a step onto that platform.

{Rewards: 2,500 V.P - clue about Selene’s civilization.}
Lloyd opened his eyes wide upon hearing that notification, while at the same time the engravings on the ground began to glow.
"What the hell?" the boy exclaimed while turning around.
Then he saw them, appearing on top of each column.
They had appeared... Goblins?
