Chapter 115: Chapter 115— Saviour.

The trio was quite startled when they heard the noise scream coming from inside.

They had expected the kids to scurry in fear or something but not outright scream at them.

With a creaking sound, the door swung open fully, revealing the inside for everyone to see.

In front of Cole were quite a number of children, they were all standing there or just sitting on the ground looking extremely scared.

From his observations, Cole realised that were some of the kids that were fresher, they were the active ones. They stood up to see who it was and only looked slightly scared.

But there was a group of children that were extremely unresponsive. They only stared blankly without any sort of life.

destroyer Damn," Cole gritted his teeth.

Looking at the unresponsive kids reminded him intensely of his time in that building.

That week I spent in extreme pain. The look on their faces was just like the one that could be seen on his cage mates faces.

"They have given up,"

While the trio stood outside the space, the kids that were inside also observed them.

Some of them breathed a sigh of relief when they realized that the new arrivals weren’t the usual men.

After standing there just observing for a while, Cole began taking steps into the space.

Instantly some young boys from the group rushed forward to obstruct Cole’s path.

"We won’t let you take them," one of them shouted.

Cole’s heart softened instantly as a smile creeped on his face.

"Thanlkfully I am not here to take them, I am here to help you guys escape,"

Instead of relaxing, the kids’ faces toughened up more. It was obvious they didn’t believe Cole.

From that moment on, Cole had to use everything he had just to persuade the children that he was actually here to save them.

The ones that stared blankly had also regained a little bit of light in their eyes as they have seen hope.

Under the trio’s lead, the kids that number up to about a hundred proceeded to leave the underground space. Leading them out of the hatch aboveground, Cole could still notice some dullness present on their faces.

Cole looked at the kids in front of him and wondered what exactly he should do.

They had been rescued from the underground space, how do they go back to where they were before.

Cole thought for a while before coming to a decision.

"I am going to lead them home one at a time,"

He turned to his teammates and proceeded to share his plans with them and as expected, they were surprised by how much Cole was actually putting into this.

After a bit of coaxing, they finally agreed to Cole’s plans.

"The two of you guys should stay here and protect them, I will be leading the team."

And just like that, one at a time. Cole went back and forth taking a group of kids at a time until only a few kids were remaining.

"Where are you guys from?" Cole asked the last set of kids.

They looked between themselves skeptically, unsure if they should respond to Cole. But remembering all that he had previously done, they decide to.

"We are from the settlement outside the slums," One of them spoke up.

In that instance, Cole figured out what exactly he has to do now.

"I need to get Laura,"

Since he knew where she was staying, he didn’t waste time and headed straight for her place.

He found the underground hatch that Laura had previously led him out from and retraced it until he got back to that familiar entrance.

Knock! Knock!

Instead of hearing a response, Cole only heard a sound of scurrying in the room as if the people there were trying to hide.

"It’s Cole," he finally spoke.

The scurrying sounds suddenly seized the moment he heard that and footsteps began heading towards the door.

"Why are you here," he heard from the other side of the door.

"Uhhhm, I come with news but first you will have to open the door," Cole said.

"Spill it, I won’t be opening this door until I hear something important," she responded with the same ferocity.

"Sigh, hot-blooded women," Cole said gently.

"I have found some kids that say they belong to the settlement,"

Cole hadn’t even finished speaking when he had already begun hearing the sounds of locks opening.

"Really," Laura asked with bright eyes.

"Yes," Cole nodded gently.

Cole could see the intense excitement in Laura’s face and also her obvious attempt to hold it in.

"Take me there now," Laura said.

"Okay but first you will have to dress up properly," Cole said while intentionally avoiding her gaze.

Laura looked down at herself and her face immediately flushed red. She had completely forgotten about her appearance due to the news Cole brought.

"Bastard," she cursed before rushing back in.

Cole didn’t mind and instead stood at the entrance, patiently waiting for her to return.

A few minutes later, Laura was ready and with Cole in the lead. They headed towards the buildings where the kids were staying.

In the Building, the kids waited patiently for Cole’s return but as time went on, he didn’t come.

Just when the kids began losing their hopes, Cole arrived accompanied by Laura.

"Sister Laura," the kids shouted as they rushed towards her. Laura also felt extremely happy seeing them as he embraced them with all that she had.

While they were still caught in the mood, one of the slightly older kids turned around to look at Cole and said in a low voice.

"Thank you."

Cole’s heart was immediately softened and all the effort immediately felt like it was worth it.

"Maybe I made the right decision," he thought to himself.

Laura checked all over the kids bodies for wounds and injuries but she just couldn’t find any on them.

"What do those bastards do to you?" Laura asked.

"They actually don’t actually do anything to us, they just come over every three days to take a few of us but they never return. While saying that, his voice went down intensely.

The room grew deathly silent as everyone felt pain in their hearts for the lost kids.

"You really deserve death Micheal and I love that you got it," Cole thought in anger.

Laura separated from the children before saying to Cole in a low voice.

"How about those bastards in the settlement,"

"They will get what they deserve very soon," Cole said with slightly reddened eyes.
