Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 114—Underground search
Cole felt his head was extremely heavy and his joints were in such a mess.
"Damnnn, how long was I out for?" Cole muttered.
Despite the pain coursing through his body. Cole tried to sit up and check his environment.
The first thing he noticed was the presence of blinding light all around him.
"This can’t be the underground space," he thought.
At this moment, he was completely unable to see anything at all; the only thing around him was just white light.
"Cole, are you okay? " He heard someone say not far away from him.
"Isn’t that Linda," he thought.
Hearing Linda’s voice, a little sense of relief flowed through his body as he realized he must be safe now.
The feeling of relief that overcame him now looked to be more like a mistake as Cole gradually grew light-headed again.
He was losing consciousness again.
Bryan was startled as he saw Cole’s raised head fall back down again.
"Did he just lose consciousness again?" Bryan asked with a shocked face. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"Hahahah, that was kind of hilarious." The duo burst into laughter.
They laughed for a while before regaining their composure with a sigh.
"I guess we have to wait for more time now,"
This time, it didn’t take Cole too long to regain his consciousness. He was back awake in about an hour.
The newly awoken Cole could see his environment clearly, and his head had stopped ringing so violently.
Looking at the dark building that towered in front of him. Cole could only wonder.
"Is this where Michael and his guys stay?"
He turned to look at his teammates that were also looking at him with worry in their eyes.
"Hello, guys, what’s going on now?" Cole asked.
The other two were shocked to see Cole’s immersion delve straight into the mission without anything else.
"Uhmmm, these kids aren’t actually here," Bryan responded.
They expected an exaggerated response from Cole. Since he was the major investor in this mission.
"Hahahaha, Bastard. You decided to be a thorn in my side upon your death," Cole laughed out.
"But you seem to have underestimated me," Cole thought.
"You guys need not worry; I know the exact spot they are," Cole said to his teammates.
Linda’s and Bryan’s eyes widened in shock as they looked at Cole.
"How?" Linda asked.
"There have been signs everywhere; I just failed to catch it earlier."
"Give me a little bit of time, guys," Cole said while he closed his eyes.
The moment he closed his eyes, Cole began chanting the World Absorbing Mantra in a bid to heal a little of his injuries.
Though he knew it wasn’t the right decision, there was nothing he could do. He had to save those kids as soon as possible.
As the Life energy flowed through him. Cole could feel his injuries slowly healing and his body regaining a bit of energy.
After a bit more, he stood on his feet and said to his teammates.
"Let’s go, guys."
Cole turned around and began sprinting forward as fast as he could. Away from the building.
They slowly returned to the more populated portion of the Slums as the incidence of people increased.
Despite that, Cole didn’t stop or slow down; he just kept sprinting forward as fast as he could.
The other two behind him noticed the direction he was heading, and doubts began forming in their minds.
"Why are we heading there?" Bryan thought.
But since he trusted Cole enough, he didn’t raise any rebuttal to alarm the others.
After a bit more, Cole finally arrived in front of a familiar building.
It was the second location they came to search for Micheal, the same one where Cole had that specific encounter with Micheal.
Instead of going into the building, though, Cole quietly moved to the side of the building.
Through a dark alley before stopping. He looked down at the hatch that was in front of him.
"You are really smart Michael," Cole muttered before opening the hatch.
The others observed Cole’s actions and also followed his line of action.
They followed him down the hatch now into the underground space.
After arriving here, Cole finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Even though he had been completely confident in his realization. He still wasn’t a hundred percent sure.
But now that he had confirmed the presence of this space, he was now assured his line of thought was right.
Cole waited for a while, observing the two directions. He couldn’t make a decision on where to actually go.
Giving up that decision, he turned to Bryan, who was more advanced in these things.
"Bryan, do you mind?" Cole said.
Bryan only nodded his head and moved forward. He closed his eyes and focused for a while before suddenly snapping them open.
"Let’s head over here," Bryan said.
The others didn’t say anything; they only followed his direction and hoped for the best.
From that spot, Bryan took the lead and led them all underground.
At a point in time, Cole finally found the jolt he needed. He could suddenly feel they were heading in the right direction.
The more they walked. The gloomier the underground space became.
Cole had already been forced to activate the Eyes of Scrutiny. To check the surroundings.
Just like he had expected, faint threads of dark energy could be slowly observed everywhere in the surrounding area.
"We are heading in the right direction," Cole thought.
Linda was also looking around suspiciously as if she could sense something in the surroundings, but no one seemed to notice.
Bryan, who was in the lead, looked back at the others regularly to see if they were still there, a sign of how scared he actually was.
After about ten minutes, they finally arrived in front of what seemed to be a door.
It was a makeshift door that separated a part of the underground place from the others.
"We finally found them," Cole thought.
Without wasting time, Bryan moved to the door and broke the lock in one fluid motion.
"Haaaaaaaaa," they suddenly heard from inside.
