Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Please Give Me a Chance to Say Goodbye to You

But Evelyn was disappointed.

In the suit pocket, apart from the small cloth bag and pills she had sewn for Caden, there was absolutely no ID card.

Her thoughts drifted momentarily; unknowingly, a lot had happened between her and Caden.

He was actually quite nice to her—handsome, wealthy, and the first man she had been intimate with. Marrying him would indeed be a huge advantage for her.

A sudden shock hit her, she shook her head vehemently, driving away those chaotic thoughts and continued searching for her ID card.

Just then, a blush crept unknowingly onto her cheeks, even she didn’t realize it, as her emotions began to surge uncontrollably.

Evelyn looked around and pinned her hopes on finding the ID card in the cabinets.

Yet after checking two cabinets, she still didn’t see what she wanted.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Evelyn was startled, holding her breath, instinctively ran behind the door to hide, only realizing she was on the second floor, so the doorbell ringing downstairs had little to do with her.

The one ringing the doorbell was Eleanor Keaton, who hadn’t given up. She had just escaped from home, heading straight to Caden’s place.

Seeing Eleanor, a hint of impatience flashed in Caden’s eyes.

"Brother Caden," Eleanor immediately showed a sweet smile, "I know I’m just infatuated with you, and you’ve never liked me."

A trace of sadness appeared in her eyes, she continued, "But, can you let me say goodbye to my infatuation since I love you so much?"

"Go back," Caden said without a nice tone, preparing to close the door.

"Brother Caden!" Eleanor quickly blocked the door, "I just... wanted to come bless you."

Seeing Caden silent, Eleanor continued, "My brother advised me for a long time, and my parents were angry and fell ill because of my immaturity. I finally figured it out now; actually, loving someone is about making them happy. If you can be happy with Evelyn, I’ll bless you. Just..."

She looked at him, took a deep breath, and said again, "But, I still remember Brother Caden praising my coffee as delicious, let me make you one more cup, okay?"

"No need." Caden replied coldly, his dark eyes showing no warmth.

"This will be the last time I’ll make coffee for you!" Eleanor shouted, "I promise never to bother you again! Please give me a chance to say farewell to you and my secret love, okay?" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Saying that, she hurriedly added, "I brought my own shoe covers and cup, I won’t touch anything in your house!"

Caden stood silently for a while before turning aside, letting Eleanor in.

As if fearing he would change his mind, Eleanor immediately ran to the kitchen, a calculating look flashing in her eyes.

Before long, Caden’s phone rang; the phone was in the bedroom, and he slowly walked upstairs.

Focusing on finding her ID card, Evelyn had no time to escape and quickly hid in the wardrobe.

At least, it’s safer than behind the door!

Turning on the main bedroom light, Caden picked up his phone, his gaze sweeping around, a deep something flashing across his eyes.

His eyes returned to the phone—it was a call from James Lockwood.

Having left the banquet hall for so long, James was only calling now.

Pressing the hang-up button, Caden had no intention of answering the call—decisions he makes are never changed!

Hidden in the wardrobe, Evelyn was so frightened she didn’t dare breathe.

She didn’t know what was happening outside, but she hadn’t heard any footsteps drifting away, indicating Caden should still be in the bedroom.

She was very afraid he would suddenly open the wardrobe.

If that happened, she would surely be exposed!
