Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons-Chapter 604 - 534 The Non-Operational Soul Return Place
Kreya returned with the retreating resistance army, along with Pedi and the others, walking back over.
Looking at Kane's creation before her, it didn't take long to transform such a large White Bone Palace into what it is now.
Kreya realized the Authority of Creation Kane had obtained, a power over this world.
"How is it? Not bad, right? Everything was planned roughly according to your requirements,"
Kane said to Kreya beside him.
Kreya looked at the newly transformed Soul Return Place in front of her, nodding in satisfaction.
The White Bone Palace now had a completely new appearance, transforming entirely into the Soul Return Place Kreya desired.
According to Kreya's requirement, the palace was shaped into an octagram supported by 36 stone pillars, each engraved with the life-to-death process of a creature. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Among them, 8 stone pillars extend straight upwards from the top of the palace, later forming a stone tower, also octagonal in shape.
The top of the stone tower holds a huge brazier, looking as if cradled in a pair of hands.
The exterior of every building of the palace needed engravings, intentionally or unintentionally depicting some of Kreya's deeds.
Including how Kreya led the resistance army to fight back, annihilate the Black Monarch, and restore peace to the world's death.
A touch of mythical quality was present.
Each seam at the angles of the Soul Return Place held a large door, at the entrance of which stood a centaur statue.
However, these centaur statues were not of Kreya, but carved in likeness to Kreya's Ghost Knight.
Kreya's statue stood at the center of the palace, exceptionally large, reaching a height of 10 meters.
"What's the purpose of constructing this way?" Kane asked.
Kreya, looking at the palace before her, answered, "This meets the general requirements for the Soul Return Place, allowing for more efficient soul return."
With that, Kreya walked towards the palace.
The black Gemstone floating beside her emitted black light, representing the operation of her authority, strengthening Kreya.
In Kreya's hands, black and white flames reignited, accumulating more until finally forming a massive Fireball, several times larger than Kreya herself.
She then held this gigantic Fireball and forcefully threw it towards the high tower in the sky, the Fireball shooting straight towards the top of the tower above the palace.
The large Fireball smashed into the brazier at the top of the black tower, immediately gathering in the center, igniting a fierce black and white flame soaring skyward.
As it burned, the black and white flames spread downwards along the high tower.
Eventually, similar flames ignited on the rooftops at the 8 corners of the palace, like the tower in the center of the guard.
The centaur statues' weapons at each door also ignited with black and white flames. On Kreya's statue at the palace center, her hands assumed a hollow grip, similarly igniting with a flame.
With a fragment of the Platinum Scepter, and similarly possessing authority over the world, Kane felt the world's change as the palace's flames ignited.
This change seemed to come from the world becoming more complete, or rather, the chaos of its rules being reduced.
The Death Rule, unenforced for a hundred years, was once again being properly arranged.
He already felt that the existence of the undead would no longer occur; the undead curse had vanished.
The world's death will return to normal now.
However, the issue arose, and he could sense that, accordingly, the other Three Kings could also clearly perceive the world's changes.
"Strange?"
Hearing Kreya's words, Kane asked, "What happened?"
"The Soul Return Place can't function at all? The souls of the deceased aren't coming this way at all,"
Kreya said, then muttered to herself.
"Is that how it is? No wonder the Black Monarch didn't fulfill his duty; this doesn't truly count as fulfilling the Soul Return Place's duty, naturally lacking deeper understanding of death."
After muttering for a while, Kreya gazed at Kane's puzzled eyes and began to explain.
"Our previous assumption was correct; the Golden Bridge is indeed this world's parasite—the path of souls has long deviated from the rules. All the souls are heading towards the Golden Bridge, where they're infused with golden energy and begin reincarnation anew."
"This means the world's death rules were altered many years ago, with the Golden Bridge altering souls within the world's life forest.
And now, due to the world's fragmentation, the Golden Bridge lacks energy, so it's begun consuming souls."
"The world's life will only diminish under the Golden Bridge's devouring until it completely vanishes."
With even the rules altered, there was no longer a necessity for this Soul Return Place to exist, and even if Kreya built it, it was useless.
Thinking of this, Kreya said, "Forget it, let's go. This place can only function again after we complete the task."
After hearing Kreya's words, Kane couldn't help but start thinking.
So, the authority over death, though in legend granted by the Golden Bridge to the King of Platinum, was actually still formed using the world's own power.
Otherwise, how could the authority granted by the Golden Bridge contradict the actions of the Golden Bridge itself?
