Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 49: The Baby Is Gabriel Galloway’s
Ethan Yardley didn’t know what was wrong with Serena. When he learned she was in the hospital, he rushed over in a panic.
As he hurried toward Serena Yardley’s room, Ethan saw two men brawling in the hallway outside a room not far away.
He even recognized one of them.
It was Gabriel Galloway, the man who had been at his family’s old mansion a while back.
Ethan wasn’t interested in outsiders. His girl was in trouble, and he had to go see what was wrong with her.
He was about to stride forward when the two men’s conversation suddenly stopped him in his tracks.
"Then tell me, is the baby in Serena Yardley’s belly yours?"
Quentin Montgomery, his mouth and nose bleeding from the fight, asked, refusing to give up.
Gabriel Galloway grabbed him by the collar and roared, "Yes, she’s carrying my child! That’s why I’ll be enemies with your Montgomery Family for the rest of my life."
Quentin Montgomery shoved Gabriel’s hand away, wiped the blood from the corner of his lip, and said coldly:
"A man like you, who fools around while knowing he’s engaged—the Montgomery Family has no interest in you."
Resigned, Quentin Montgomery angrily stormed off.
He merely glanced at Ethan Yardley as he passed, not stopping on his way to the elevators.
Ethan Yardley stood there, ramrod straight. A sinister violence seemed to emanate from his very bones, like a demon incarnate. A murderous aura swirled around him, his presence overwhelming.
Putting the connected call to his ear, a few bone-chilling words escaped his thin lips: "Send some men to the hospital."
After hanging up, he closed in on Gabriel Galloway, each step saturated with killing intent.
Gabriel Galloway hadn’t expected Ethan Yardley to show up at a time like this.
Realizing his mistake, he quickly tried to explain, "Ethan, listen to me, just now..."
THWACK!
A fist slammed viciously into Gabriel Galloway’s face, sending him stumbling back several steps, completely off balance.
When he straightened up, two of his teeth were gone, and his mouth was full of blood.
He tried to explain again, but Ethan Yardley grabbed him and beat him mercilessly.
Gabriel tried to fight back, but he was no match for Ethan.
He was beaten so badly it was a gruesome sight, left lying on the floor, barely breathing.
Ethan Yardley planted his foot on Gabriel’s chest, his expression savage. His gaze stabbed into him like an ice pick. "You dare to covet my woman? Do you have a death wish?"
Gabriel Galloway was so beaten he didn’t even have the strength to make a sound, lying there motionless, his face covered in blood.
Just then, a group of bodyguards appeared at the end of the hallway.
Ethan Yardley lifted his foot, calmly dusted off his sleeves, and gave a cold command: "Since he doesn’t value his life, send him to hell."
The bodyguards understood and quickly moved forward to drag Gabriel Galloway away.
After dealing with Gabriel, Ethan finally looked toward the nearby hospital room door.
He refused to believe what he had just heard.
’His Serena...’
’The woman he had protected, so pure and innocent, as lovely as a wildflower swaying in a summer breeze... could she have had an illicit affair with Gabriel Galloway?’
He didn’t enter the room. Instead, he turned and went to find the doctor, wanting to understand her condition first.
The doctor recognized Ethan Yardley and didn’t dare hide anything, so he told him the truth.
"Mr. Yardley, the young lady just had a medical abortion. She’s very weak."
Ethan Yardley thought he’d misheard. His eyes blazed red as he grabbed the doctor by the collar, his face contorted. "What did you say?"
The doctor stammered in fear, "I-I said she just had a medical abortion. She took medication that induced a miscarriage. She’s very weak right now and needs to rest for a while."
Ethan Yardley shoved the doctor away. As he walked out of the department, his steps were unsteady.
He couldn’t believe it. The person he cherished more than anything, the one he’d treated so delicately... not only had she been pregnant with another man’s child, but she had taken pills to get rid of it, afraid he would find out.
She had actually been carrying another man’s child.
No wonder she’d been trying to get away from him lately.
’So her heart had belonged to someone else all along.’
She had betrayed him long ago.
Why?
Ethan Yardley didn’t understand.
He had been so good to Serena, giving her the best of everything. Aside from the matter with Sylvia Schuyler that he hadn’t handled well, how had he wronged her in any way?
And she had the nerve to say she didn’t know Gabriel Galloway.
’Didn’t know him? They didn’t know each other, yet they had a child together, while he, Ethan Yardley, was played for a fucking fool.’
’How dare the two of them carry on right under his nose?’
Ethan couldn’t bear the humiliation. He clenched his fist and slammed it into the nearby wall.
A loud BANG echoed, seeming to make the entire hospital wing tremble.
Blood oozed from between his well-defined knuckles, dripping onto the floor.
His face was dark and twisted, his eyes bloodthirsty and cruel. He stood there, hating himself for not having subjected Gabriel Galloway to death by a thousand cuts, for not grinding his bones to dust just moments before.
After a long, long time, suppressing the volcanic rage within him, Ethan finally pushed open the door and entered the hospital room.
Serena Yardley was lying on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Sensing someone enter, she lowered her gaze. When she saw it was Ethan, her heart ached, and she couldn’t help but cry out to him, her voice full of grievance.
"Ethan..."
In the past, whenever he saw her cry,
no matter the reason, Ethan’s heart would ache, and he would go to her, hold her tight, and comfort her.
But now...
Ethan stood by the bed, his face as hard as iron, his gloomy eyes bloodshot.
Looking at Serena Yardley, he let out a cold snort. "Does it hurt?"
Serena Yardley looked at Ethan in surprise.
She didn’t understand the contempt in his tone.
She knew she was in the wrong for hiding the pregnancy from him.
But she felt so awful right now, and she desperately wanted him to hold her.
Her small face crumpled as she pleaded, a mix of grievance and coquettishness in her voice, "Ethan, hold me~~"
"Serena Yardley."
Ethan suddenly flew into a rage, shouting furiously:
"How long were you going to hide this from me? Did you think I wouldn’t find out if you just pretended nothing happened?"
He ignored the fact that she had just had a miscarriage, stalking forward to grab her by her frail shoulders, his anger uncontrollable.
"Who gave you the nerve to do this to me? How dare you."
His eyes looked as if they would split with rage. He wanted nothing more than to strangle her with his own two hands, right here, right now.
In the entire world, no one had ever dared to treat him, Ethan Yardley, this way.
How dare a mere woman like her.
’Was it because he had spoiled her too much that she had become so audacious?’
’If that was the case, then he, Ethan Yardley, was also unforgivable.’
’Then let’s go to hell together.’
He raised his hand, wanting desperately to slap her across her delicate, beautiful face.
Serena Yardley was stunned.
Seeing him raise his hand to strike her, she was terrified, her face pale with panic. She had never imagined that hiding her pregnancy would make him this furious.
She let out a sob and tried to explain, "I didn’t mean to hide it from you. It’s just that you said you didn’t want me to have children, so I didn’t tell you.
"I’m sorry, I failed to protect our child. It’s my fault, I’m so sorry..."
"So because I said I didn’t want you to have my child, you went and had one with someone else, is that it?"
In the end, Ethan couldn’t bring himself to strike her. He lowered his hand and stood there, glaring at her with cruel, cold eyes.
"Serena Yardley, stop acting in front of me. You went behind my back with Gabriel Galloway, got pregnant with his child, and then took pills to get rid of it because you were afraid I’d find out. The evidence is irrefutable. You can’t deny it.
"You listen to me. I will never forgive you. For the rest of your life, don’t ever expect me to show you an ounce of tenderness again."
