Chapter 542: Chapter 542: Final Dungeon - Seventh Floor (Part 2)

Point-of-View: Vaszel Vos Kealfaos

"My Lord, it seems the Final Dungeon is working against us."

"Hm? What do you mean by that, Spektar?" I responded with a frown.

"Well, of the nine remaining humans, seven of them now possess Personalis Arma," He informed me.

"Tch...I specifically made those to be incompatible with humans. I can understand a few exceptions, but this is too many, it shouldn’t be possible," I growled irritably.

"It seems like it is Kaivel Intrix’s doing. He has some sort of ability that allows him to safely link other humans to the weapons."

"I see, so that’s what it is. Well, no matter. Once I kill these humans, I shall reclaim all the Personalis Arma," I declared venomously.

"Er, sounds like you don’t have much faith in Deino, my Lord," He responded in bemusement.

"Well, considering that all nine of the others have fallen, I suppose I have lost a bit of faith in them. Deino may be the strongest of them, but still, I have my doubts about whether he can defeat all the remaining humans by himself. At the very least, I hope he manages to kill two or three of them."

"I hate to worsen your mood even further, my Lord, but..."

"What is it? Go on."

"Well, several of the humans have grown more powerful through the Final Dungeon, beyond the boost from their Personalis Arma. Some of their Auras have risen quite drastically," He informed me.

What? How?

"Exactly how much more powerful have they grown?" I inquired with a grimace.

"Three of them appear to be on a similar level to the Sentinels in terms of power, a few others are a bit weaker, but still significantly more powerful than Archdemons and Dragons. And then there are three that should pose no real threat, they are likely playing a support role."

This may be cause for concern...but in the end, it won’t matter. Even if they do have enough power to genuinely challenge me, they cannot kill me, it is simply not possible.

Inevitably, their struggle will end in vain, that much is assured...

Point-of-View: Kaivel Intrix

"So, what kind of Monster do you think this Sentinel is? The evolutionary cycle goes Caimanoids, Two-Headed Alligators and Cull Crocodiles, which makes sense...caimans are not as dangerous as alligators and crocodiles, and crocs are the most dangerous crocodilian species. So, what could the Sentinel be?" Wondered Cleo curiously.

"Ohh, good question. Maybe a salt water croc?" Suggested Aarav uncertainly.

"Hm...what’s the crocodilian species with the super narrow snouts?" I chimed in.

"Oh, gharials? Well, they look scary, but they’re actually not that dangerous to humans compared to the other crocodilian species, they mainly just eat fish," Cleo informed me.

"Then, maybe a prehistoric species? Like, weren’t there super massive crocodiles that ate dinosaurs?" Responded Aria with a smile.

Oh, yeah, that’s a possibility. Ai, know what those species are called?

<Of course I do>

<The one Ariella is referring to is probably the species known as Deinosuchus>

"What does he look like?" Jaden asked Avaritia.

"<Quite similar to a Cull Crocodile, except he is a bit taller, his limbs longer and stronger, and his scales are grayish-green instead of white>."

This conversation doesn’t really serve a real purpose, but it looks like it’s helping ease everyone’s nerves.

We’re fast-approaching the strongest of the threats we’ve faced so far, and then, we’ll face the biggest threat we’ve ever faced in the Demon Lord.

So, naturally, there was a bit of tension and anxiety about us. Thus, any distractions are welcome, we need to hold our nerve through the final stretch of this battle.

We’d covered a fair bit of ground already, and according to Avaritia, we’re getting close, which was backed up and confirmed by Cleo.

We had come across several Caimanoids, Two-Headed Alligators and Cull Crocodiles along the way, but breezed past them without any issue, the Apostles dispatching them with ease.

Aarav’s the only one left who hasn’t fought yet, not counting the three Aces, of course. I did consider taking him out of the equation by having Petrus take him into the shadows along with Brid and Jax, since, to be blunt, he’s probably the weakest of the remaining X-Aces.

But Aarav refused, insisting that it wouldn’t be fair for him to play it safe when the rest of us X-Aces have each risked our lives against the Sentinels.

Even if he ends up failing to kill the last Sentinel and dies, he can at least weaken him and make it easier for whichever of us fights next...that’s what he said, anyway.

I feel conflicted, but I suppose I’ll just have to have faith in him and hope that he-...hm?

There it is, the ring of pillars, we’ve arrived.

It was by the wall of the floor, the ground sloped down with a stretch of water across it. The water was moving back and forth like waves, like the shore of a beach.

A figure then rose out of the water, a humanoid reptilian Monster. He was tall, at around seven feet in height, with a strong, muscular figure, but appeared quite agile too.

He had dark grayish-green scales, which looked thick and durable, with a pair of white, bone-like blades across his back, with sharp, curved teeth along the edges.

His tail was pretty thin and long, a lot more wiry than the weaker species in the evolutionary cycle he came from.

His Aura, no doubt about it, it’s on another level compared to the other Sentinels. Appraisal:

Well, that’s alarming.

Physically, he’s an absolute beast, his MP being significantly lower than his physical stats brings down his Power Level a bit, but he’s still a good bit more powerful than the other Sentinels.

I grimaced as the ring of pillars expanded, the Aces disappearing into the shadows, before Aarav got teleported in front of one of the pillars, a tense yet determined look on his face as he clenched his fists and let out a slow exhale to compose himself...
