Chapter 1834: Chapter 1835: Recommending Xiang Yu as Team Leader

Sirvi had everyone inspect their weapons and found that there weren’t many bullets left. Fortunately, they supplemented with weapons left by the Vulture Squad, which barely sufficed for the moment. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Let’s go," Sirvi said reluctantly.

He was currently furious with Xiang Yu, who had made him lose face in front of his brothers. He was determined to find an opportunity to make Xiang Yu pay.

"Look over there," one of the men pointed after they had walked for a while.

Everyone looked in the direction of the pointing finger and saw a convoy moving majestically past.

It was the Vulture Squad; they parked their vehicles at the foot of the mountain and a group of them, armed, stormed upward.

Upon witnessing this, everyone broke into a cold sweat and then looked gratefully at Xiang Yu.

If it weren’t for Xiang Yu, they would have been surrounded again.

"We should hurry and leave; they drive fast, and if they find the mountain deserted, they might chase us," Eck suggested.

"Yes, let’s hurry so they won’t catch up to us," Xia Cheng said, standing behind Xiang Yu.

Sirvi gritted his teeth and barked, "Retreat now."

With that, he sped away, looking very embarrassed.

Xiang Yu shook his head helplessly and followed them. He knew the Vulture Squad probably wouldn’t pursue them, as they would also worry about running into an ambush.

After running for a while and confirming there were no pursuers behind them, Sirvi finally stopped.

At this moment, they could hear gunfire ahead, likely from the location where their support troops were surrounded.

"Check your weapons and prepare for battle," Sirvi said resolutely.

The others looked at Sirvi and then at Xiang Yu, clearly wanting to know if Xiang Yu had any alternative opinions.

Xiang Yu said nothing, only checking his own weapon.

Seeing this, they felt relieved. If Xiang Yu had no objections, it must be the right decision.

Sirvi could discern everyone’s expressions. He gritted his teeth and said to Xiang Yu, "I see that the four new comrades are skilled and experienced. How about you four lead the charge, and we’ll support you from behind."

Before he finished, Eck disagreed first, saying, "We’re at war, we should look out for each other. Besides, their ammunition is running low. Asking them to lead the charge is sending them to their deaths."

Although the others remained silent, they seemed to agree with Eck.

"Who’s the team leader, you or me?" Sirvi glared coldly at Eck.

He had long had a problem with Eck, who never listened to him and often sabotaged his efforts.

Eck glared and was about to speak when Xiang Yu quickly gestured for silence and said, "No problem, the four of us will take the lead."

Xia Cheng was displeased and shouted, "Why us? That’s a death sentence!"

"Stop complaining, follow me," Xiang Yu said decisively, turning towards the direction of the gunfire.

Tie Zhuzi and Xiao Xuan followed Xiang Yu without a word, while Xia Cheng hesitated momentarily but ultimately trusted Xiang Yu and followed.

Watching them leave, Eck snorted and went after them.

"Why are you coming with us?" Tie Zhuzi grinned at him.

"I can’t let you go into danger alone. I know this terrain well; I can guide you," Eck replied straightforwardly.

Eck walked alongside Xiang Yu, wanting to speak but hesitating.

Tie Zhuzi patted his shoulder and said, "Speak up if you have something to say; don’t leave us in suspense."

Eck nodded quickly and said, "Brother Xiang Yu, you’re talented. If you’re willing, I nominate you as team leader."

Hearing this, Xiang Yu and the others were stunned, unsure why Eck would suggest this.

Eck continued, "Sirvi became team leader by stealing credit; he’s nothing and has no capability."

Xiang Yu smiled faintly and said, "After all, he’s the leader. We should support him fully."

"Nonsense," Eck replied indignantly, "You’ll see, after we return, he’ll claim all the credit for himself. Moreover..."

Eck glanced at Xiang Yu and continued, "He’ll frame you, saying you disobeyed orders and messed up his plan."

Tie Zhuzi angrily widened his eyes and said, "If he dares, I’ll twist his head off right now."

Xiang Yu quickly pulled Tie Zhuzi back, smiling and shaking his head, "Let him talk; the facts won’t change."

Eck was about to say more, but Xiang Yu stopped him and said, "Let’s quickly check out the situation at the front."

With that, Xiang Yu took the lead and moved forward.

Eck shook his head; Xiang Yu’s standing in his mind was already high, and he was sure Xiang Yu’s future would be remarkable barring any surprises.

Behind them, Sirvi leisurely led a group, admiring the scenery as if in no hurry.

"Team leader, the front might be dangerous; we should hurry," someone anxiously suggested.

"No rush, they seem capable and should be fine," Sirvi replied nonchalantly.

Though frustrated, no one else spoke up.

Inside, Sirvi smugly chuckled; he hated those at the front and hoped they’d perish there.

The gunfire ahead grew sporadic, signaling the end. They weren’t far from Eck’s base; the Vulture Squad seemed to have launched a blitz attack.

Xiang Yu led them forward, and as they reached the front, most were retreating, save for small squads providing cover.

"Should we charge in?" Eck asked Xiang Yu.

Xiang Yu shook his head, "The battle’s over. Charging in now would cause chaos and reignite the fight, costing us our lives."

Relieved, Xia Cheng lay there and said, "If that’s so, let’s rest awhile here."

Realizing there wouldn’t be another battle, Eck sat and said, "Xiang Yu, once back, I’ll recommend you as team leader. Be ready."

Xia Cheng laughed and said, "Actually, I gave the ideas. Why not recommend me? I’ll lead us to growth and success."

After all, Xia Cheng was once a leader; unexpectedly becoming a mere soldier here.

Commander Cao had advised him to start from the basics, and now he wanted to begin as a squad leader.

"Shut up," Eck retorted, "you have no say until I speak."

"He’s right, I haven’t spoken yet," Tie Zhuzi added, patting Xia Cheng’s shoulder.

Displeased, Xia Cheng gritted his teeth and sat silently...
