Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Calamity Level Dungeon (Part 3)

"[Switch]!" Chanted Isla as a couple of Dragonoids came charging towards me, the Monsters crashing onto each other and collapsing in a heap as she swapped their positions.

I swiftly whipped my left arm across, firing out a rapid, vertical slashing wave of Negative Energy towards the Monsters.

One of them hurriedly scrambled back onto its feet and got out of the way, a deep gash appearing across the other one’s torso as it was too slow to react, a roar of pain ringing out as blood streamed down its body.

I shot forward, ducking as the Monster swiped its claws at my head as I closed in, before driving my blade into its throat, yanking it out with a sharp twist as an agonized, choked gasp rang out, blood pouring out and streaming down the Monster’s chest.

"<Command: Get Over Here>," I chanted as I turned my attention to the other one, its body stiffening before it shakily began to approach me.

I raced towards it and leapt forward as I closed in, eliciting a howl of pain as I slashed its eyes, before spinning around as I slipped before it and whipped my blade across, slicing through its nape deeply, killing it as it collapsed onto its knees and fell over. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

I then sprang back as another Dragonoid came swooping down towards me, evading it before generating a tendril of Negative Energy and whipping it across with a flick of my wrist as it began to lunge at me, striking its shins and knocking it off-balance.

As the Monster stumbled, a dazed look appeared on its face as I shot forward and unleashed Lethargy, disorienting it before I reached out and grabbed the top of its head, firing out a burst of Mana Pulse.

The Dragonoid’s eyes exploded as a violent shudder erupted across its entire body, before its shoulders slumped to its sides, its body going limp as I killed it instantly, before it collapsed onto the fleshy ground with a slight splat.

A full-powered Mana Pulse to the head is enough to kill even High Level Monsters now, nice.

I then lifted my gaze as a deafening explosion rang out, right as the head of a Dragonoid went flying across the space and crashed onto the wall to the left, slowly sliding down to the ground.

Looks like that was the last of the Monsters on this floor. Not too shabby, we’re making some pretty steady progress.

We were a little over halfway through the Dungeon, in the seventy-fifth floor, and we’d only encountered Dragonoids so far.

Their numbers have been pretty manageable, we only ran into groups of five or less on the first twenty floors, then ten at most across the next twenty, about ten to fifteen in the twenty floors after that, and over the last fifteen or so floors, we’ve been coming across groups of upto or less than twenty.

Aria and I were doing most of the damage, but Rex and Ciel were more than holding their own too.

Isla’s been pretty solid backing us up with her Teleportation Magic, and while Keira has been less effective than she was during my first raid with her, she’s been doing well-enough.

If nothing else, she isn’t getting in the way or anything.

Ciel’s the only one who’s needed healing so far, but not because of the Monsters, none of them have so much as scratched her.

No, all the damage she sustained has been self-inflicted...she’d set off explosions a bit too close to herself on multiple occasions, and ended up getting caught up in the resulting blasts.

Just minor damage, nothing serious...this is my first raid with her, and could be my last considering that she’s in a different Guild, but I can’t help but wonder if this is normal for her?

Or maybe she’s just more on edge because this is a Calamity Level Dungeon? She doesn’t seem particularly anxious or anything, so I’m inclined to assume the former.

"It’s crazy how much easier fighting High Levels has gotten, huh?" Remarked Aria with a wry smile, approaching me as I gathered up the corpses and used Ravage on them.

"Yeah, but it’s probably only a matter of time before we run into something more challenging. So let’s stay alert," I replied, as I patted her head.

"Mhm, my thoughts exactly."

"Since there have been so few Calamity Level Dungeons in history, we don’t have enough of a sample size to determine the standard patterns. But based on how this one’s being going so far, I’d assume that we’ll run into more powerful Monsters, likely Wyverns, by the hundredth floor or so," Mused Isla thoughtfully.

"Yeah, that sounds right. I’m not seeing any signs of an unpredictable pattern so far," Chimed in Ciel with a nod.

"Hm, I believe this is what they call a false sense of security, like sleeping peacefully at home while a murder lurks outside your window," Sighed Damien dramatically.

"Okay, I get a bad feeling every time he talks. Can we leave?" Frowned Rex warily.

Yeah, that’s fair.

Damien’s been a bit extra emo today-...actually, we’re not too far from crossing twenty-four hours since we entered this Dungeon. And we’re only a little over halfway through.

Considering that it’s only going to get tougher, our progress will probably slow down the further up we go, and there’s also the trek back to factor in.

It’s going to be some time before we get out of this Dungeon, barring any unforseen circumstances forcing us to retreat.

"Cool it with the doom and gloom, man, it really isn’t helping," I remarked with a wry smile.

"Yeah, I second that notion," Nodded Sera in agreement.

"Let’s stay positive, we’ve made great progress so far, so we can afford to be confident, if not complacent," Added Aria positively.

"Yeah, couldn’t have said it better myself," I replied, before adding, "Alright, let’s take a break, shall we? Let’s rest up a bit and then press on."
