As we sped across the countryside, I could see the traces of corruption energy that were all around.

The nobles of the Kite Kingdom had long been given weapons to protect themselves against the corruption energy monsters, but it was clear that this was a situation that was dire.

Even with these weapons, it was hard for them to clear out everything.

The only thing that they could do was save the people that they could and protect the things that they could.

Still, the signs of corruption that were spread out across the country really was something.

It really did seem like a large disaster.

"Does this mean that they are just going for broke?"

After all, for the forces of Destruction to commit forces like this, there was no doubt that it would have taken a long time to prepare. This kind of thing should have been prepared for the elementals, so why would they activate it now that we had sealed up the elementals?

The more that I thought about it, the more confused I was about this entire situation.

It really didn’t seem like a smart move on the part of the forces of Destruction.

The other thing that I noticed as we were flying through the air was that the corruption energy monsters all seemed to be moving in a single direction. They were just running across the countryside, but it seemed like they were all moving towards one single goal.

It was the same direction that we were currently flying in.

Just from this, it wasn’t hard to tell where they were all planning to go,

"The capital...They are trying to flood it to see if they can breach it and reach the one that they want to take..."

Joan gave a sound from below me to which I said, "I’m fine, don’t worry about it."

But after a pause, I added, "Let’s go a bit faster."

Joan didn’t say anything, but she did start drawing more divine energy to make herself move faster.

We had been keeping ourselves at a pace that didn’t drain us too much before this, but now it seemed like the situation was becoming dire. It really seemed like it was only a matter of time before something happened in the capital.

So that was why we were planning to push ourselves this last bit of the trip.

Only when we got close to the capital, there was a sound that we didn’t expect. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Roar!"

Other than this sound, there was a burst of golden light that also exploded.

It was just a single burst of golden light and passed by us without a problem, but we could see that the corruption energy monsters down below were being repelled by it.

In the distance, I could even see that there were some corruption energy monsters that were destroyed by the burst of golden light.

This golden light was anything but normal with how it affected the corruption energy monsters. But when I saw this burst of golden light and heard that sound, I couldn’t help thinking of something familiar.

"You don’t think that it’s..."

I didn’t finish my sentence, but I could feel the reaction that came from Joan that showed that she agreed with this thought of mine.

In that case, it seemed like the situation was much more dire than we thought it was if even this was happening.

"Go."

It was one simple word, but we didn’t hold back at all.

Since we were already this close to the capital, all it would take is another burst of speed to reach it. Since we were already here, we had to get there as soon as possible.

Which was why we stopped holding back completely and drew out all of our power to speed up as much as possible.

With this speed, it only took a few minutes to reach the capital.

Though during that time, it really seemed like a long few minutes.

Only when we arrived at the capital, we couldn’t help being surprised by what we saw there.

It certainly wasn’t what we had been expecting to see.

"Is that a golden dragon?"

This time, Joan didn’t answer since she was also shocked by what she saw.

It was hard to describe what we were seeing, but there was no denying this since we could see it very clearly for ourselves. There was this cover that seemed to completely surround the capital city and it was what was keeping the city safe.

From the appearance of this barrier, it seemed to take the shape of a dragon and it had the same golden colour as the burst of light from earlier.

"This is clearly Arthur’s power, but why is it so powerful?"

Once again, Joan had no response to what I muttered to myself.

Neither of us could make sense of what was happening here, but at least it seemed like the capital was safe because of it. No matter how the corruption energy monsters tried attacking the golden barrier, there was nothing that they could do to break through it.

In fact, the corruption energy monsters that made contact with the barrier received a form of counterattack when they hit it. It was as if the force that they hit it with was rebounded back to them and it destroyed the parts of them that made contact with the barrier.

"Let’s help clear it out. I don’t know how long it’ll be able to last."

This time, Joan gave a reaction as she agreed with me.

The two of us gathered our power once more as Joan gathered flames in her mouth.

Once we had gathered enough power, we released it all at once.

The flames immediately swallowed all of the corruption energy monsters that had been around the capital and purified them.

Though it seemed like when the flames made contact with the golden barrier, it also seemed to make it stronger.

"Just what is this power?" I couldn’t help muttering when I saw this.
