"It just falls like rain..."

It really was a shocking sight seeing it when I had only heard about it before, but it was clear that this wasn’t a normal place.

After all, lightning bolts were falling down just like drops of rain.

There was nothing that was normal about this place.

But this was the place that we were about to step into.

After all, this place was the last place that had been marked on the map that Solista showed me.

Which meant that as long as we took care of the seal in this place, the whole situation with the corruption energy across the continent would be taken care of. It was also why there were many excited looks on everyone’s faces even though they were staring at the lightning falling like rain.

Otherwise there should have been terrified looks on their faces since this was quite the terrifying scene.

Just a single bolt of lightning would be enough to kill a person, let alone lightning bolts raining down like this.

But since we were heading into this place, that meant that we had to find a way to deal with the lightning.

"Since it’s lightning, then the only thing that should work is...The problem is how to make it mobile since it’ll have to be connected to the ground to work..."

I muttered to myself as I observed the lightning falling down.

The magicians from the Sorcery Empire had also been thinking about how to deal with this since it was their specialty.

In the end, the only suggestion that they could make was, "We can create a barrier that will block it, but it won’t last long. As such, we’ll have to make small trips into this taboo zone and find the pillars of the array."

To everyone else, this seemed like the most logical solution.

But I didn’t want to waste any time and I had something else that I could do.

As such, I raised my hand and said, "We’ll do this instead."

They all watched as metal gathered from beneath the ground and formed a pillar in front of us.

It was easy for me to gather metal with the power of earth that I controlled and it was even easier for me to compress this metal into this pillar with that same force.

Once the pillar was done, all of them looked at me with confused looks as they had no idea what I had created this pillar for.

I didn’t explain to them as I pushed this pillar through the ground into the taboo zone. I had created the pillar just outside of the taboo zone so that the lightning wasn’t able to reach it.

But the moment that it entered the taboo zone.

"Boom!"

There was a bolt of lightning that ignored everything else to fall down onto the metal pillar.

It wasn’t just a single lightning bolt that fell down on it, there were several other lightning bolts that all fell down at the same time and landed on the metal pillar. It didn’t take long for the others to realize what function this metal pillar had.

"But how is it doing this?"

That was the question that they all had with the expression on their faces.

Just a single glance was enough to tell that this was what they were all thinking at this moment.

I didn’t say anything as I walked into the taboo zone while they were all stunned, so they weren’t able to react in time before I was already in the taboo zone where all the lightning bolts were.

The magicians from the Sorcery Empire wanted to come forward to help me shield against those lightning bolts, but they soon found that there was no need.

"This thing will attract all of the lightning, so we’ll be safe as long as we’re under it."

The lightning bolts ignored me and landed on the lightning rod that I had created.

Even with my basic understanding of science, I knew that lightning had a tendency to strike the highest point. So as long as I had this lightning rod, then it should make things safer for me.

But as if to prove a point, there was one bolt of lightning that ignored the lightning rod that I created and came straight at me.

If it wasn’t for the fact that I had a barrier up myself, then it would have been dangerous.

Seeing the way that they looked at me, I said, "It’s mostly safe. There are cases where lightning bolts will ignore the highest point and strike at whatever is here, but it’s a small enough case that we’ll be safe with the lightning rod and keeping a barrier up."

They still had skeptical looks on their faces hearing this, but the fact that the lightning rod was indeed taking most of the hits from the lightning bolt did prove something. While it wasn’t perfectly safe, it was at least better than using the barrier alone.

Though they did have one more question.

"How are we supposed to move if this lightning rod is stationary? It has a certain range, so it’s not as if we can count on this thing while exploring."

It was easy to see that in the distance, the lightning bolts falling down were ignoring the lightning rod. This wasn’t something that could work in the entire taboo zone, it only had an effect in a certain area.

Once they left this area, then they wouldn’t be able to use it.

"It’s not a problem." I said as I raised my hand and pointed in front of me.

Since this place was always being hit by lightning, it meant that there was no one that actually exploited the resources that were in the ground since there was no safe way to mine it.

It was easy for me to pull these resources right out of the ground with the same power of earth and form another pillar in the distance.

The moment that this pillar formed, it had the same function as the lightning rod.
