Shattering Humanity-Chapter 72: Two Tone Aura

Everyone lets Saku calm down before they bring up his 2nd Stage IceEye with the unprecedented two toned aura emitting from the puffy left eye.

Saku sniffles and wipes his eyes real quick still unaware of his 2nd Stage eye.

He looks down at his dog. The dog does not care about eye aura’s or eye stages, the 3 year old German shepherd with an IceEye, is just happy to see his master back home. Saku disengages and bends down to pet the pup. Making Itsuka finally open her eyes from her bliss, to the same look Shelly had when she saw Katsu’s IceEye physically turn to a second stage.

Saku(petting Friend): "Hey buddy! Were you a good boy?"

Friend: "RrufFf RuffRuff."

The dog then turns to Katsu and starts barking at the boy. Everyone gets confused while Katsu gets scared at the barks. Saku’s IceEye goes back to the base-kit and his white aura with the black streak goes away while Friend is acting out. Taylor sees Friend and gets excited.

Taylor: "Doggieeee!"

Saku realizes the situation and gets a look of horror before he runs for the door.

Saku: "Sshhhit! Come on Friend! You guys stall him!"

Friend: "RufF!"

Itsuka: "Saku!"

Saku gets to the door and lets Friend out first.

Saku: "I never let ’Lenny’ over there know about Friend!"

He runs out and slams the door shut on Taylor. The big man opens the door. Both he and Itsuka run out to an empty stone hallway in both directions. Saku and Friend are nowhere to be seen.

TayTay: "Doggy? Sock?"

Itsuka gets angry and yells in the hallway and it echoes.

Itsuka: "I guess the only things I’m good for are watching your dog and being a chest to cry into?! Huh?!"

Her anger slowly turns into sadness, with her head down, she walks back inside quietly. TayTay looks in both directions and then starts to get sad. The giant man’s low voice cracks as he is now the one missing Saku.

TayTay: "Sock."

Sol comes out of the training room. She looks up with her shining gold eyes that sparkle even underground.

Sol: "Come on Big Guy, forget about him, I bet you’re hungry! Lets find out where there’s a kitchen and..(blushes)...and Ma- MaMa will cook you up something special for a good first impression."

Taylor gets excited and laughs.

TayTay: "MaMa! Back!"

Sol gives a worried look at the lovable dummy, unknown to her that, just because her eyes perfectly match, he’s mistaking her for his deceased mother. Her expression relaxes and she gives a slight smile back up at him.

Sol: "I guess the more simple-minded that someone is, the easier it is for them to manipulate their senses to figure out and find happiness."

She holds out her hand and his giant fist takes it.

They walk back into the room to the group already talking about what they just witnessed.

Scylia: "Did he say anything about a nightmare recently? Maybe he did have an IceEye ability nightmare and he just didn’t tell you guys.(looks at Daisuki) From both times he’s either been a clone or with one, when I got the clone memories, he seems to not be fully invested in everyone’s well being."

Daisuki looks at the ground, thinking.

Daisuki: "He’s not a bad kid ’Scyl’, you heard what he said about his mom. (looks at Itsuka) He’s just really confused as a man who had no morale support growing up. To be honest, it’s surprising he turned out as enlightened as he did without a father and a neglectful mother. But, I’m not going crazy right? Did anyone else see Saku’s 2nd Stage IceEye aura have two separate colors?"

Shelly gets surprised.

Since she didn’t see Saku’s physical IceEye and can’t see eye auras, she looks at Katsu while she thinks to herself.

Shelly: *2nd Stage? Did Katsu have two separate colors in his left eye aura when his changed? Should I tell everyone Katsu’s eye changed too that morning after he got it? But he had just woken up, so Katsu having a nightmare would be possible. It is nothing new to him and he stopped telling me about them since they were always the same. His IceEye changed the morning after his transfer, even though he’s never killed a single Iceman. The eye’s design changed when he actually felt hurt from my reaction to the eye. What’s up with these Lefty IceEyes? And if Saku apparently unlocked his from peak happiness, does that mean...*

Katsu notices Shelly looking at him and smiles at her. Shelly blushes and listens back into the conversation between IceEye users.

Dom: "I thought his aura meant he wanted the smoke at first, but that wouldn’t make sense since he was crying, then I saw he had a clearly noticeable black streak within a white aura so I’m at a loss."

Daisuki: "I’ve seen color combinations using the primary colors but never two separate colors coming from the same eye."

Sol looks at Katsu and notices he has a Lefty eye just like Saku.

Sol: "Wait...are Lefties becoming more common or something? Both you and that jerk are the only two I’ve seen with an IceEye in your left eye but I thought it was always the right?"

Katsu smiles and rubs the back of his head.

Katsu: "Yeeeaa...we did find out a little more information about these alien ’sink-by-otic’ eyes since we left the mountains but for the reason only me and Saku have Lefties...we got no clue."

Shelly: "It’s ’symbiotic’, Katsu."

Katsu: "Simp-bio-tic." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Shelly: "Close enough."

Everyone except Taylor is thinking. Sol and Shelly both look at Itsuka. The woman Shelly looks up to as a Big Sis, is now the heartbroken girl of the group. Feeling Sol’s gaze, Shelly looks at the newcomer in her torn kimono and her leg with a dirty cut and dry blood down her leg. Shelly: "You’re hurt! Are you ok?!"

Sol looks down and gets surprised.

Sol: "Oh yea, I forgot. Haha. So little fact about me is I don’t feel pain. So when things like this happen, I can get myself a nasty infection and not even feel it until it’s too late."

Daisuki: "Woah, that’s amazing, that makes two amazingly gifted women in the group who don’t need alien powers to be extraordinary."

Sol shakes her head.

Sol: "You would think that, but there are some things you need to feel."

Daisuki looks at Shelly and remembers her rebuttal to his ignorance.

Shelly looks at Sol with a pitiful look.

Shelly: "That means you can’t feel anything then, right?"

Sol nods.

Sol: "You’re correct. My only two senses that work are my sight and hearing. I have diagnosed hypoesthesia, anosmia, and ageusia. The complete inability to taste, smell, and feel what I touch."

Daisuki: "I’m sorry for my ignorant comment lil lady."

Sol: "No offense taken Mina sir. In my own opinion, at least I have the two most important senses for a human. I’m sure there are people without their sight or hearing that would willfully give up a ’Luxury Complex Sense’ to have a ’Communication Complex Sense’."

From outside the hall Charybdis can be heard yelling.

Char: "Aye Bro hold on!"

Everyone looks as Aiden bursts through the door out of breath and Char right behind him.

Aiden: "What’s in that briefcase!?!"
