SEXY MECH SYSTEM-Chapter 48: Buff System and Upgrades
Ding! Ding! Ding!
[New feature added.]
[The system has been updated.]
[New feature: Buff System.]
[Congratulations, host! You can now check all buffs unlocked.]
"Unimaginable..." Syril mumbled, forgetting that someone was beside him.
Oh, right. He was asleep.
"Believe it, boy. You won’t complain the system is ’stingy’ now, will ya?" Raja began teasing.
"Pfft! Let’s see if it’s worth the hype." Syril jabbed back.
He quickly opened the new tab, smiling awkwardly.

[BUFF SYSTEM.]
[Available Buffs: ]
[1. Healing Buff.]
[2. Evolution Buff.]
[3. Sex Bonus Buff.]
[4. Incense Buff.]
[5. Cognition Buff.]
[6. Hypersensitivity Buff.]
————~~~~~————~~~~~———
’Six buffs... I know some of these, but the others...’
{Author’s Note: For reference for other buffs and more explanation about buffs, check Chapter 22 and 23.}
[Cognition Buff: This buff boosts the user’s capability to learn, acquire knowledge and understand.]
[Hypersensitivity Buff: Boosts user’s primal senses such as sight and hearing, and enhances nervous coordination.]
’Unbelievable. It can’t be, Raja.’
"Believe it."
’So, the reason my motions have been fluid and I have better eyesight is because of this? And now that I’m going to college, I have a booster that will put me ahead?!’
"Yes, my scum. You’re already smart, and with the system’s booster, you’ll surpass Einstein’s level."
’This feels like a cheat. A good cheat.’
"You were chosen, and it’s your cheat."
The corners of his cheek turned slightly, smiling until his gaze fell on that outstanding buff.
’The Incense Buff.’
Now, if you were wondering how Syril got powered up and was insanely angry when he battled with the duo thieves, here’s your answer.
[Incense Buff: This buff enables core stats Agility, Strength, and Stamina to double when user is enraged in a battle. It fuels the user’s anger and keeps the core stats doubled until battle ends. Side effect: the core stats are halved for next five hours.]
Raja had explained this one beforehand, telling him how the buff had helped to secure his victory.
Syril loved the idea of the buff, its aid was by far great, but the issue was its side effect. If he couldn’t overpower his opponents by normal means, he could trigger the buff with rage and gain a great advantage, but that meant subjecting himself to half manpower when the battle ends.
If more enemies visit during that period, he’d have to rely on his halved power to subdue them.
Still, it was a great buff, and more interesting stuff was yet to come.
"Remember, power comes with a price, and resorting to one’s anger in a battle might not necessarily give a desirable outcome. Think of the side effect as a way to curb one’s recklessness." Syril remembered the exact words Raja said the other day.
He smiled and focused on the screen again.
"What’s next, right?" Raja asked, predicting his companion’s question. "Inventory."
Syril found it easily, the interface shimmering before another tab opened and bright words were displayed.
[INVENTORY]
[Quest Points: 600.]
[Stat Points: 5.]
[Skill Upgrade: 1.]
"You have more questions, ugh?!" Raja drawled playfully.
’You bet.’ Syril responded in a heartbeat.
"I’m so glad you’re no one’s boss! How did your teachers in high school survive?"
’And what is that supposed to mean?!’
"Okay..." Raja started his explanation, ignoring the young man’s lamentation. "We discussed Quest Points (QP) before. What you don’t know are Stat Points and Skill Upgrade."
"First of all, you know your skills can be upgraded to the next level through the Evolution Buff. Now, the Skill Upgrade is a special feature that levels any skill of your choice to the next level instantly. It doesn’t care about the experience (EXP), neither does it care about the skill. Just select the skill of your choice, and it automatically levels."
’Whoa! That’s superb.’
Raja faked a yawn and made a kissing sound.
"What a dick..." Syril muttered under his breath.
"Moving on, we have the Stat Points (SP). These are points you assign permanently to any stat of your choice. Whether it’s your Mana or Agility or Stamina or Charm or whatever, just select the amount of SP you wanna give one, and it automatically adds up."
Syril shifted on his seat now, raising his chin and staring into the wagon’s ceiling.
"What?! Surpassed the ’hype?’" Raja playfully asked.
’Yes... the power dynamics are far too...’
"Unique and great?" Raja completed knowingly.
Syril could only nod, words or thoughts seemed insufficient to describe what he possessed.
"Very well. I’m glad you’re aware."
Syril heaved a sigh of relief and maybe content, silently thanking the gift that came from trash.
He soon smiled and stared out of the train’s window, seeing that the train was just coming out of a tunnel.
’I left my own tunnel too that night. Now... I can only see light...’
"Seriously? Is this dude trying to be poetic now? You’re a fucking fucker, a pussy and a pussy banger. Save those words for the chicks."
’Always a dick.’
"That’s our difference. I’m not a weak pussy."
’That’s not what I...’ Syril sighed helplessly. ’You’re a mess.’
’Now, let’s see what my inventory has to offer.’
He soon found himself in the system’s store, staring blankly at the list of availabilities he couldn’t still purchase.
Everything there was grey. He didn’t even have half of the price of the least item.
And it even hurt that he couldn’t preview the availabilities because of his insufficient funds. The items only carried absurd QP and names by its side, staring at him without revealing anything.
Syril dejectedly left after scrolling and scrolling.
"Don’t be dispirited. Complete more quests and come back."
Syril played his own turn of ignoring, and just carried on.
’For my Stat Points...’
He visited the Stats tab.
[STATS.]
[Mana Point (MP): 82.]
[HP: 100.]
[Strength: 42.]
[Agility: 20.]
[Stamina: 50.]
[Charm: 11.]
He had six fields and had only five SP.
Syril wasn’t a fool not to know there’ll be competitions, conflicts, brawls, or bullies. Brandon already proved it wouldn’t always be rosy. And stepping on Greenville’s ground as a student meant every moment was to prove yourself.
Any opportunity you get to show who you are or your capabilities could erase abject poverty or help secure a very bright future.
Without any form of defense or assault to stand on this ground, Syril knew his years in Greenville could mean living in the shadows, or worse, dying before he amounted to anything.
And being an underdog, someone without much to back him or support him, a probable target of powerful ones or top dogs, he knew he was in for a lot.
So, firstly, increase his assault or defense.
He could have easily distributed the SP to five stats, one each for five, leaving only one stat out, but Syril went against that.
Spreading the SP so thin would have little to no effect as it wouldn’t be much of an addition.
He decided to pour all into one, trying to favor one against others.
But with six stats in his arsenal, which should he choose and would be advantageous or right?
If he decides to go with Mana Point, that could be a right decision, or would it?
His ability consumes mana a lot, and currently having just one ability skill which couldn’t serve as defense or attack, that didn’t seem like the right decision.
So, he dropped it.
Mana Point was out of the picture.
Now, he was left with HP, Strength, Agility, Stamina, and Charm.
He removed HP instinctively. It seemed like a bad decision because increasing his HP only meant standing long before he eventually dies. No form of defense or attack too. Maybe defense but not the type that prevents assault. He was still very susceptible to damage.
Which only leaves him with four options; Strength, Agility, Stamina, and Charm.
Stamina too was easily removed. It was a false defense like HP. No true defense or attack.
Stamina was also useful in sexual intercourse, but currently, his stamina could satisfy most. Unless he meets those who have stamina based abilities that surpasses Sherry’s.
So, he’d leave stamina for now.
Now, we’re left with just three options.
Strength, Agility, and Charm.
Hmm... Tough ones, huh?
Strength and Agility could possibly be game changers.
He could choose Strength for assault, and Agility, in some cases, could serve as assault or defense.
But Syril went against both, too.
Why, you ask?
Charm was also a very important stat. Yes, his agility and strength were at their peak (for normal humans), but many ability users were specialized in these departments.
Some ability users could easily overcome strength, and some could also easily subdue agility.
So, Charm won the points.
Besides, he had more than one skill dependent on his Charm, and the stat could suffice in many cases due to the versatility it encouraged.
It wasn’t just the Silver Tongue skill that was dependent on the stat, his newest addition was also dependent on it.
And that was his fighting skill; Phantom Jab.
[Phantom Jab: A powerful skill heavily dependent on Charm and somewhat dependent on Agility. The skill enables the user to create an illusion that a punch will be delivered with a hand or somewhere, however, when opponents move to parry or escape the falsely predicted jab, it comes from another angle or is delivered with another hand. It’s a fast, powerful trickery and assault that combines the Charm and Agility stat to be successful.]
Syril remembered the details like it was one’s total account balance.
And without wasting more time, he poured all of his Stat Points on Charm.
[This process is irreversible. Are you sure you want to put 5 SP in Charm?]
*Yes.*
[5 SP successfully assigned to Charm.] 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
[Charm: 11 → 16.]
Syril felt a short tingling sensation over his body, confirming the task was done.
One more leveling to go.
