SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S FIANCÉ-Chapter 27 - TWENTY SEVEN
Chapter 27: Chapter TWENTY SEVEN
- KILLIAN -
My watch beeped. My alarm has rang for the fifth time since I snoozed it. It’s afternoon yet Hazel is still fast asleep. I promised to bring her to her dorm by eight but I guess that’s not happening.
I leaned over my chair to stare at the body sleeping peacefully on my bed. I don’t know what to think.
A student in a professor’s bed sure would be the talk of the decade if it got out. I sighed and leaned back, staring at the file I’m working on my desk.
Is that what she is to me though? A student?
I turned back to face her.
I’m starting to fear and wonder if she means more. More than Kate.
A grin formed on my face as I laughed. I don’t know what to name what I have with Kate. I love her though. Very much.
My eyes peered at the bump in the duvet of my bed where she lays.
Hazel was in that room last night, I need to change the locks or at least block every bit of passage in there. My jaw tightened. I fear what would’ve happened if she actually saw something.
I fear what I would’ve had to do to her. I need to keep her away from me as possible but when she pulls stunts like she did last night, it’s hard to leave her alone.
Why?
I scoffed. That’s a question I don’t want to answer. I cleared my throat and averted my attention to my laptop. The file is still downloading. Why on earth is the network slow today of all days?
A moan caught my attention. I saved the file on my laptop and closed it without turning it off. I’m guessing she’s awake. Hazel raised herself to sit up straight on my bed. Her hand scratches her eye as she yawns.
"Have a nice rest, kitten?"
"Hm?" Her fingers made its way to her messy hair and she scratched it hard. I hope she doesn’t have lice. It’ll be bad for me because we shared pillows. Hazel studied the room, sleepily before looking at me and I doubt she even saw me. "Give me a second, my brain’s still booting." She held a hand high and yawned.
This made me smile. That’s cute. I actually waited.
"Mmm, good morning Killian." She giggled, smacking her lips together.
"Fully up, kitten?"
A pillow came flying my way and hit my face. It dropped to the ground. She threw that at me.
"I can’t stop you from calling me that, but I can at least react to it." Her hands went up in the air as she stretched. "What’s the time?" She asks, still stretching.
I check my watch. "Half past three."
Hazel’s eyes widened. "WHAT?!" She jumped up the bed. "Why- How?"
"You were asleep, that’s how."
"And you didn’t wake me?" She blurts out.
I chuckled. "Trust me, with all that snoring, I was tempted to."
Hazel’s face flattened. That makes me want to burst out laughing, she obviously doesn’t snore and the few times she did, it sounded like a baby gasping for air. Breathing in and out softly.
"I’m never sharing a bed with anyone again." She blurt out.
Good. That way, I don’t have to worry about you doing something wreckless. My mind argued but I shook the thought away. She’s not my responsibility so I shouldn’t care.
"You’ll save some ears and give people quality sleep." I whispered and turned back to face my laptop. It’s closed but the flash drive is still in it. I took it out and dipped it in my pocket.
Hazel sat down on the bed. "What do I do now? Bathe? Eat? Head back to my dorm?" She yawned. "I’d rather sleep or let the earth swallow me." She leaned back on the bed.
She can’t stay here, that’s for sure. If S’ goes against our arrangements and sent Their agents, then it was risky bringing her home last night. Her being in that room was risky. If she saw anything, then her whole existence is at risk. But this could just be me overthinking. That’s why I did that last night.
[ Their is S]
Inject her. I did a little something to my kitten over there. I know it was wrong and I shouldn’t have done that without her consent or at all but I couldn’t help it.
I won’t be able to sleep if something happens to my fiancée’s friend because of me.
"Ow." She gasped, breaking my reverie. I averted my gaze from the floor to stare at her.
I raise my brow without saying a word, waiting for her so say what’s wrong. She will withoute asking, I know that already. Hazel stretched her hand backward, behind her head. "My neck hurts."
It must be the injection. I sighed with relief . "It’ll clear off soon."
"Clear off soon?" She breath. "Did you... did you put something in me?" Hazel asks confused.
My jaw tightened. I guess there’s no way out of this topic right now.
"Answer me Killian!" She raised her voice. Her tone is harsh. Hazel gave me the death stare.
I stood. For the first time, she doesn’t seem intimidated by my height and it puts a smile on my face.
"What’s funny? What did you put in me?!"
I shouldn’t be thinking about this but this sounds really sexual.
"I injected you last night."
"Why?!"
"Because you couldn’t sleep." I answered honestly. "It helps me sometimes when I’m restless or have insomnia." With how quickly she passed out, I must’ve given her an overdose. Good thing there are no side effects.
"And you couldn’t ask me first?! What is wrong with you?!" Hazel reached her hand to the back of her head again. "It really hurts for a syringe." Her voice quivered.
Shit. I got so used to the pain that I forgot she’s not me. She might not be able to bear it. She’s a teenager for fuck’s sake!
"Hazel I’m sorry. That was wrong."
"Very wrong. And stupid!"
This made me chuckle. Not because of what she said but how she said it. "You’ve been waiting to use that for a while now, haven’t you?"
"Yup. Pretty much." Hazel smiled back.
Now, the air is clear. I like how easy that was. I like how quiet the room is. It’s peaceful. I don’t remember ever being with someone and feeling at ease. It’s never been this peaceful.
There has always been something to ruin the moment.
"I’m really sorry for injecting you."
She waved her hand in the air. "It’s fine. That’s not what I’m mad at anyway."
"What then?"
She glanced at me then paced around my room. "At myself. You wouldn’t get it."
I sat down on the chair. "Try me."
"As nice as that sounds, I won’t. I shouldn’t even be here. I shouldn’t want to be here."
"I can take you back right now if you want. I’ll do anything to make you feel comfortable." I said. Hazel’s breath hitched when I said that. She met my gaze and stared at me. She looks... worried. Concerned. Guilty.
"It’s not that, Killian." She walks to my window and spread the curtain open. "It’s something else. You wouldn’t understand."
Although I want to push more, I chose to stand back. I stared at my hands then clenched my fists.
I don’t want to ask more because I understand. Some things are pretty obvious without words.
"Hazel-" I started. She turned to face me. "I-"
Someone barged into my room when I started speaking, interrupting me. I trailed my gaze to the door. My brows creased. It’s Kate. Her eyes sway from me to Hazel.
"You’re here..." Hazel said. That sounded more like a question. I heard the doubt hidden in her words. "I thought differently." She glanced at me.
I didn’t lie earlier. Kate has never been here before. I just gave her a call because I said I would and gave her directions on how to get in and find her way around.
"I called her." I sad to Hazel. I stood and walked to Kate. She wrapped her arms around me and god on her tip toes. Kate kissed my cheek. "Hello honey, have you been alright?" I ask. My tone is soft. Softer than how I’ve spoken to Hazel these past few hours.
"I’ve been good. But we have a lot to discuss. More about last night." She said on my face and bit my cheek.
I put my hand around her back and kissed her forehead. "Sure. Anything for you."
I glanced back at Hazel. She’s just standing there and watching us. The look on her face is quite familiar.
It makes me feel awful. Mainly because.... I’ve know what it’s like. I’m well accustomed with that look myself.
Kate parted from my grip. "Hazelnut! Get ready let’s go. We have a lot to talk about, young lady!" Kate stormed to her and held her wrist the dragged her out of my room.
For a brief second, she locked eyes with me before averting her gaze.
Fuck. This is bad.
