Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce-Chapter 64: The Conditions Are the Same as Last Night
It wasn’t that Wren Sutton was so fond of the blue diamond necklace that she absolutely had to have it back. She just couldn’t swallow this insult.
Adrian Lancaster turned, his gaze searing as he looked at her. "It’s impossible to get the necklace back," he stated adamantly.
Wren Sutton wasn’t surprised. She had expected him to say that.
’How could Adrian Lancaster bear to take back something Maya Marshall had her eye on?’
Besides, it was the necklace he had used to propose. Its significance was extraordinary, making it even more impossible for him to ask for it back.
"In that case, give me the money. One hundred million, based on the transaction price from that day."
The corner of Adrian Lancaster’s mouth curled into a disdainful sneer, as if mocking her for being delusional.
Wren Sutton didn’t care. As if it were a matter of course, she pulled up the payment QR code on her phone.
"Don’t bother with a check. A direct transfer will be fine."
Adrian Lancaster concealed the emotion in his eyes, his voice low. "Mrs. Lancaster has gotten quite brazen, hasn’t she? Demanding money so directly."
For the sake of the one hundred million dollars, Wren Sutton let his words go in one ear and out the other, refusing to argue with him.
’The necklace is definitely not coming back, so I might as well get the money.’
"The necklace was mine. Taking it to give away to someone else for free isn’t your style."
Adrian Lancaster started walking toward Wren Sutton.
His cold, imposing presence closed in on her.
Wren Sutton stood her ground, steeling herself.
"And what style is that, hmm?"
Adrian Lancaster ignored the QR code, looming over her condescendingly.
He blocked most of the overhead light, casting Wren Sutton in his shadow. The fingers hanging at her side curled into a fist.
"You’re a man of your word. You said one hundred million, so it’s one hundred million."
Adrian Lancaster gave a smirk. "Flattery won’t work on me."
Wren Sutton looked up, her eyes widening in disbelief. "Don’t tell me you’re going to renege on the deal."
"And why not?" Adrian Lancaster’s tone was flippant, a wicked glint in his eyes.
Wren Sutton’s breath caught in her throat. She lowered her phone, embarrassed.
’Looks like I overestimated Adrian Lancaster’s character. I thought too highly of him.’
And in return, reality had just slapped her hard across the face.
Anger flared in her heart. Her accusatory gaze was laced with disappointment and sorrow, and before she knew it, her eyes had turned red.
She ground out through clenched teeth, "You’re shameless for going back on your word."
Adrian Lancaster’s expression was cold. "I gave you a chance last night. You didn’t take it."
Wren Sutton recalled what happened. "That was something else entirely."
"The principle is the same. It’s all about the money."
The darkness in Adrian Lancaster’s eyes deepened. He tilted Wren Sutton’s chin up, his hot breath fanning across her face. His other hand rested lightly on her waist, slowly pulling her into his arms.
"I’ll make an exception and give you one more chance."
Wren Sutton froze.
"The terms are the same as last night. It’s up to you whether you take it or not."
Hearing this, Wren Sutton’s heart clenched with a pang of pain.
’This isn’t an exception. He’s clearly forcing me to compromise, using money as a test of my obedience.’
Filled with rage, her last sliver of hope died. She put her phone away and shoved him back with all her strength.
She just couldn’t bring herself to call him ’husband.’ The word itself was sickening.
Adrian Lancaster frowned, displeased. "Are you going to let another opportunity slip through your fingers?"
Wren Sutton regretted coming to the office to find him. With a cold expression, she grabbed her bag and turned to leave.
"I don’t want your damn chance. I don’t want the necklace and I don’t want the money. Just pretend I never even saw it. You can give it to whomever you please."
With that, she turned and walked away.
Adrian Lancaster’s face instantly darkened.
"Stop. I didn’t say you could leave."
Wren Sutton paid him no mind and kept walking.
Just as her hand reached for the doorknob, she heard sharp, hurried footsteps behind her.
An instant later, Adrian Lancaster slammed his hand against the door, trapping her between it and his body.
"What do you think this is? A place you can just come and go as you please?"
He stood behind Wren Sutton, his arm barring her way.
Even though Wren Sutton didn’t turn around, she could feel the savage aura radiating from Adrian Lancaster.
She had neither the strength nor the desire to argue with him any longer. She just wanted to leave as quickly as possible.
"Don’t worry. This is the last time. For the rest of my life, I will never set foot in The Lancaster Group again."
Adrian Lancaster’s hands, hanging at his sides, clenched into tight fists. A wave of frustrated anger surged in his chest.
"Playing hard to get won’t work on me."
"You’re overthinking things. I wouldn’t deign to play such games with you. Because you aren’t worthy."
Her last three words were like plucking a whisker from a tiger’s jaw.
Veins bulged on Adrian Lancaster’s forehead. A towering rage churned in his eyes, like a tidal wave about to swallow everything whole.
Furious, he roughly spun Wren Sutton around to face him, his anger erupting.
"Say that again, I dare you!"
Wren Sutton was furious herself, her emotions having been bottled up until this moment.
Aside from her pleasant time with Lucia, nothing else that had happened today had gone right. She felt incredibly wronged, and the source of it all was Adrian Lancaster.
"You. Aren’t. Worthy."
Adrian Lancaster’s eyes were bloodshot, burning with a furious blaze. He couldn’t calm down.
"I’ll show you just how worthy I am."
With that, he swept Wren Sutton into his arms and strode toward the private lounge, radiating a terrifying, savage energy.
A terrible premonition seized Wren Sutton, and she began to struggle in terror.
"Adrian Lancaster, put me down!"
BANG! Adrian Lancaster kicked open the lounge door and threw her onto the bed.
"Adrian Lancaster, you bastard!"
Wren Sutton instinctively tried to flee. She had just gotten to her feet when Adrian Lancaster grabbed her by the waist and pinned her back onto the bed.
"Where do you think you’re going? You think you can escape from my territory?"
Wren Sutton was completely unable to move, like a lamb to the slaughter, forced to accept her fate.
"Let me go!"
Adrian Lancaster forced her fingers to interlock with his, his gaze an aggressive violation.
"This mouth of yours says nothing but things I don’t want to hear. Don’t blame me for punishing you."
Adrian Lancaster ripped off his tie with one hand. Before Wren Sutton had a chance to resist, he crushed his lips against hers, kissing her deeply and wantonly.
"Mmph..."
Wren Sutton couldn’t breathe. Kissed until she was breathless, exhausted, and miserable, tears streamed from her eyes.
Just then, the click-clack of a woman’s high heels echoed from outside the office, growing closer.
Kevin Dawson intercepted her.
"Ms. Marshall, President Lancaster is in a video conference. You can’t go in."
