Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce-Chapter 50: Mrs. Lancaster, You’d Better Be Obedient
Wren Sutton had a strong reaction. The color drained from her face as she covered her mouth and left her seat.
Maya Marshall remained unmoved, sneering inwardly. ’She’s just faking it, playing the victim for sympathy.’
Sean Sterling looked at Adrian Lancaster and jutted his chin. "Not going to check on her?"
Adrian Lancaster had been about to go, but being prompted by someone else left a sour taste in his mouth.
It made him look like he didn’t care about Wren Sutton, especially since the one reminding him was Sean Sterling.
Adrian Lancaster’s brow furrowed, his mind filled with the image of Wren looking sick and about to throw up.
A thought quickly struck him. His pupils trembled, his gaze deepening.
’Could she be...’
Adrian Lancaster shot up from his seat and went after Wren Sutton, his heart pounding with anxiety.
Maya Marshall couldn’t stay seated and stood up as well.
"Adrian, where are you going? I’ll go with you."
Sean Sterling grabbed her arm. "It’s not appropriate for you to go over there right now."
Maya Marshall was dismissive. "Why not?"
Sean Sterling cut straight to the point, his tone serious. "Wren Sutton is Adrian Lancaster’s wife."
The day they left The Seagate Villa, he had spent a long time reasoning with Maya in the car. He thought she had listened, but she was still just as stubborn, with no sense of boundaries.
"Maya, you’re not a child anymore. Stop making things awkward for everyone."
"..." Maya Marshall was speechless. A sharp pain pierced her heart, the light in her eyes instantly dimmed. Her body swayed, and she collapsed back into her chair.
Spotting her wine glass, she picked it up and chugged a large gulp. Then, with reddened eyes, she slumped onto the table and began to cry softly.
"I can’t accept this."
...
Wren Sutton ran into the restroom and leaned over the sink, dry-heaving a few times without throwing anything up.
But her stomach was still churning violently, her throat burned, and tears welled in the corners of her eyes. She felt absolutely miserable.
Just then, the door behind her was pushed open.
Wren Sutton looked up and saw Adrian Lancaster in the mirror.
Before she could even register her surprise, he was already walking toward her.
A complex emotion clouded Adrian Lancaster’s features. He gently patted Wren Sutton’s back and handed her a wet wipe.
"What’s wrong? Did you eat something bad?"
Wren Sutton cleaned herself up a bit. "I think so."
She refused to consider any other possibilities.
The words had barely left her mouth when another wave of nausea and the urge to gag rose in her throat. Her face turned a little pale.
She remained bent over, her hands braced on the sink.
In her peripheral vision, she saw Adrian Lancaster.
He was staring intently at her, which made her so uncomfortable that the urge to vomit vanished.
"You should go. This is the women’s restroom."
Adrian Lancaster’s frown deepened, but he didn’t move.
"Is this really the time to worry about that? Is there a side of you I haven’t seen?"
’The way he said that...’
"..." Wren Sutton was feeling unwell and had neither the mood nor the energy to argue with him.
’If he wants to stay, let him. If someone comes in, he’s the one who’ll get an earful, not me.’
"I’m taking you to the hospital."
Wren Sutton shook her head. "It’s too late. I don’t want to go."
Adrian Lancaster’s dark eyes stared at her, as if trying to see right through her.
"You don’t want to go, or you don’t dare to go?"
"That’s ridiculous. Why would I be afraid to go to the hospital?"
"If you’re not afraid, then let’s go now."
Without another word, Adrian Lancaster swept Wren Sutton into his arms and started walking out.
Caught off guard as her feet left the ground, Wren Sutton let out a cry of surprise.
"I said I don’t want to go today! Put me down."
"You’re going whether you want to or not." Adrian Lancaster’s face was taut, his tone forceful and unyielding.
Wren Sutton hated this about him.
Domineering, arbitrary, always doing as he pleased without any regard for others’ feelings.
"I’ll say it again, I’m not going." She struggled fiercely, resisting. "Put me down!"
Adrian Lancaster stopped walking, letting Wren Sutton pound on his chest.
He looked down at her, his eyes filled with deep displeasure.
His breathing grew heavy, and a dangerous aura began to radiate from him.
"Mrs. Lancaster, you’d best behave. I haven’t settled the score with you for tonight’s events yet. Don’t provoke me further."
"Settle the score?" Wren Sutton laughed in anger. "What score do you have to settle with me?"
"You know exactly what."
Wren Sutton felt a chill in her heart.
"What right do you have to settle scores with me? I have one meal with Sean, and you won’t let it go. But what about you and Maya Marshall, acting like a couple everywhere you go? Have you ever considered my feelings?"
Adrian Lancaster’s face tightened, his chest heaving.
"You’re different from her."
Wren Sutton scoffed. "Of course I’m different from her. At least I’m not a homewrecker."
Adrian Lancaster retorted angrily, "Maya Marshall is not a homewrecker! I’ve told you this more than once. Stop being so unreasonable."
’Unreasonable...’
A dense, sharp pain spread through Wren Sutton’s chest. Her hands and feet turned ice-cold, and her whole body trembled.
Even now, Adrian Lancaster refused to admit that Maya Marshall was a homewrecker, refused to admit he had betrayed their marriage, and instead blamed her for being unreasonable.
Wren Sutton was mentally and physically exhausted. She felt as if she had been plunged into an ice cellar, numb and hopeless.
’Let him say what he wants. We’re getting a divorce soon anyway, so why should I care so much?’
"I get it. Your sweetheart isn’t the homewrecker, I am," Wren Sutton said with difficulty, fighting back tears.
If she could turn back time, she absolutely wouldn’t have married Adrian Lancaster four years ago. And she certainly wouldn’t have had a secret crush on him seven years ago.
Adrian Lancaster’s heart soured at her words, and he reined in his hostility.
"That’s not what I meant."
Wren Sutton said nothing, her eyes a sheet of cold indifference.
After a moment of silence, Adrian Lancaster forced himself to ease the tension. "Your health is what’s important. Let’s go to the hospital first. We can talk about the rest later."
Wren Sutton knew in her heart that with Adrian Lancaster’s terrible temper, a trip to the hospital tonight was unavoidable. She was powerless to stop him.
"Aren’t you afraid Maya Marshall will get jealous if you carry me out like this?"
Adrian Lancaster was unconcerned. "Xylos has a back door."
A cold smile touched the corners of Wren Sutton’s lips.
’No wonder.’

「Hospital.」
On the way there, Adrian Lancaster had already called ahead to arrange everything.
After parking the car, he took Wren Sutton directly for the examination, and she cooperated fully.
’Might as well get it over with.’ Besides, with the constant nausea and dry-heaving, she also wanted to know what was wrong.
Adrian Lancaster waited with Wren Sutton for the results.
He had draped his coat over her when they got out of the car, but her hands were still cold.
"Why are your hands so cold?"
"I’m used to it," Wren Sutton said lightly.
Adrian Lancaster frowned, then simply pulled Wren Sutton onto his lap, holding her in his arms to warm her up.
Wren Sutton was mortified and furious.
Even though it was nighttime and the hallway wasn’t as crowded as it was during the day, it wasn’t empty. People still passed by occasionally.
"This is a hospital, don’t mess around! Let me down."
Adrian Lancaster didn’t care if anyone saw. He held Wren Sutton securely in his arms and took her hand.
"I’m warming up your hands."
Wren Sutton was speechless. "You don’t have to."
"Yes, I do." Adrian Lancaster resolutely refused to let go.
"..." ’Is there something wrong with him?’
Wren Sutton couldn’t break free, and she didn’t want to cause a huge scene with Adrian Lancaster in the hospital. It would be too embarrassing.
Resigned, she had no choice but to let him be.
「A few minutes later.」
Adrian Lancaster’s furrowed brow relaxed as Wren Sutton’s hands gradually warmed up.
"They’re not so cold now."
The words had barely left his lips when his phone rang. It was Maya Marshall.
Adrian Lancaster hung up.
Not even three seconds later, Maya Marshall called again.
Annoyed by the noise, Wren Sutton said, "If you don’t answer, she’ll just keep calling."
Adrian Lancaster hesitated. Just as he was about to answer, he heard Wren Sutton’s voice again.
"Take it outside. I don’t want to listen to you two talk."
That was exactly what Adrian Lancaster was thinking. Leaving her with a quick, "I’ll be right back," he got up and left.
He had been gone for barely half a minute when the test results came back. The doctor called Wren Sutton into the office.
"Miss Sutton, you’re pregnant."
