Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce-Chapter 47: A Familiar Back
Sean Sterling was a little surprised, but he was actually quite happy.
"What made you suddenly decide to ask me to dinner?"
Wren Sutton told him the truth. "No special reason. You drove me home, so I’m treating you to a meal."
Sean Sterling had guessed as much, and a smile touched his eyes.
"It’s a little formal, but I can feel your sincerity."
Wren Sutton’s eyes lit up. "Then it’s a date. My treat tonight."
"Okay." Sean Sterling agreed, not wanting to spoil her mood.
Come to think of it, he had never had a meal alone with Wren Sutton. Today was the first time.
Wren Sutton took out her phone, ready to make a reservation.
"Sean, what kind of food do you like? Any recommendations for a restaurant?"
Sean Sterling’s tone was easygoing. "Whatever the host decides is fine with me. You choose, I’m not a picky eater."
Even though he said that, Wren Sutton had no intention of just picking any random place. In fact, it made her choose a restaurant even more carefully.
It needed to have a good atmosphere and service, as well as great food.
She saw a newly opened Western restaurant on her phone, which reminded her of Xylos—the best and most authentic Western restaurant in all of Aston. Taking someone there for dinner spoke of class and made a good impression.
A while back, Adrian Lancaster had asked her to dinner at Xylos, and she had deliberately refused. Today, she finally had a chance to go.
With her mind made up, Wren Sutton immediately called Xylos to book a table. She was in luck and got a reservation without any trouble.
...
「Xylos.」
A Rolls-Royce pulled up to the entrance. Adrian Lancaster and Maya Marshall got out, the woman holding the man’s arm intimately.
Maya Marshall sighed, full of emotion. "Xylos is still the same as it’s always been, completely unchanged. It’s as faithful as a person."
Adrian Lancaster heard the loaded metaphor in her words. His feelings were complicated, so he didn’t reply and just walked straight ahead.
Just then, Maya Marshall suddenly remembered that the blue diamond necklace was still in the car; she had forgotten to put it on. Annoyed, she blamed herself for being so careless, her brow furrowing.
Adrian Lancaster stared straight ahead, not noticing Maya Marshall’s expression, but a familiar black Bentley caught his eye in his peripheral vision.
He slowed his pace and turned his head for a look, his gaze dark and sharp.
It was indeed Sean Sterling’s car.
Maya Marshall followed his line of sight and recognized the car as well.
"That’s Sean’s car."
"Mm."
"Looks like Sean is here for dinner too. That’s great! Let’s hurry inside and give him a surprise."
The two of them walked into Xylos.
A waiter came forward to greet them. Upon learning Adrian Lancaster’s identity, his attitude became even more respectful and cautious.
"Mr. Lancaster, this way, please."
The waiter wasn’t sure of Maya Marshall’s identity, so he just offered a polite smile and didn’t address her by any title.
Feeling ignored, Maya Marshall was not pleased. She took the initiative to assert her presence. "We booked the couple’s set menu. Where is our table?"
"This way, please." Still no title.
Maya Marshall was annoyed, but she couldn’t argue with the waiter. She had to consider Adrian Lancaster’s reputation.
After turning a corner, the waiter led the two to their table—the best seat in the entire restaurant.
It was the same table as last time. Adrian Lancaster couldn’t help but recall that unpleasant experience, and his expression turned cold.
Maya Marshall scanned her surroundings, looking for someone.
Finally, she spotted Sean Sterling not far away.
He wasn’t alone. A woman was sitting across from him, but due to the angle, Maya couldn’t see her face.
"I see Sean, over there," Maya Marshall whispered, discreetly pointing him out to Adrian Lancaster.
Adrian Lancaster was distracted and uninterested. He gave a quick glance before looking away.
Maya Marshall was extremely curious about the identity of the woman with Sean Sterling.
As far as she knew, Sean Sterling didn’t particularly like Western food. For him to be at Xylos, the woman who invited him must be someone special.
"Sean must be here with his girlfriend. Since we ran into him, I’ll go over and say hello. If it’s okay, maybe the four of us can share a table."
Adrian Lancaster was indifferent; he didn’t care either way. "Go say hello if you want. I won’t stop you."
Having gotten his permission, Maya Marshall happily stood up and walked gracefully toward their table.
Sean Sterling and Wren Sutton were so absorbed in their conversation that they didn’t notice Maya Marshall approaching.
The closer Maya Marshall got to Sean Sterling, the more the back of the woman across from him looked familiar. It actually looked a bit like Wren Sutton.
’Impossible!’
Maya Marshall immediately shook her head, dismissing the idea.
’A woman like Wren Sutton could never catch Sean Sterling’s eye.’
Eager to confirm her suspicion, Maya Marshall quickened her pace and walked over.
