Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Not in a Hurry to Expose Wren Sutton’s Identity

「The law firm.」

Aaron Pierce returned to his office. He had just taken off his coat and sat down in his chair when his assistant knocked on the door and came in.

"Leo Pierce, I’ve finished sorting, labeling, and organizing the files you requested yesterday."

"Thank you."

The assistant placed the files on the desk. "There’s one more thing."

Aaron Pierce glanced up at him. "Go on."

"About five minutes ago, Kevin Dawson, the assistant to the president of The Lancaster Group, called. He’d like to invite you to dinner tonight and will be sending a driver to pick you up."

Aaron Pierce was well aware of The Lancaster Group’s standing in Aston. He’d also heard about the president’s swift and decisive methods.

In all his years of practice, he’d never had any dealings with The Lancaster Group. Their paths had never crossed.

’A sudden dinner invitation...’

"Did Assistant Dawson mention what it’s about?"

"No, but I’m guessing it’s about a lawsuit—something not suitable for discussion over the phone."

Aaron Pierce’s expression remained impassive. His sharp eyes glanced at the calendar on his desk.

’He had no plans for the evening, so he could certainly spare the time for dinner.’

"Understood. You can go back to your work."

After the assistant left, Aaron Pierce returned to his work, becoming engrossed in the case files before him.

The minutes and seconds ticked by. Before he knew it, dusk had fallen, and the city’s neon lights began to glow.

Aaron Pierce was still immersed in his work.

He didn’t stop until his assistant knocked, reminding him it was the end of the workday and that the driver from The Lancaster Group was waiting at the entrance.

Aaron Pierce glanced at the time. "Tell the driver to wait ten minutes. I’m going to finish this file."

"Of course. I’ll go tell him now."

The assistant gently closed the door. Aaron Pierce picked up his pace, finishing his task just as the ten minutes were up.

Ten minutes later, he stood up and left the law firm.

The driver, who had been waiting for some time, opened the car door as he approached. "Mr. Pierce, please. Assistant Dawson sent me to pick you up."

"Thank you."

The car traveled along the main thoroughfare, reaching the restaurant in just over ten minutes.

Aaron Pierce was surprised. ’He hadn’t expected Kevin Dawson to choose a Cantonese restaurant, let alone one he frequented.’

’The food here was authentic—it tasted just like home.’

’If this wasn’t a coincidence, then this Assistant Dawson was truly impressive. He certainly knew how to cater to his guests. A man befitting his title as assistant to the president of The Lancaster Group.’

Aaron Pierce put his thoughts aside and walked into the restaurant with a steady gait. A waiter guided him to a private room.

Kevin Dawson rose to greet him. "Mr. Pierce, I’ve heard so much about you."

"Assistant Dawson, you’re too kind."

The two men exchanged a polite handshake, each leaving a good first impression on the other.

Kevin Dawson had clearly given instructions beforehand, as the food was served very quickly.

As they ate and talked, Aaron Pierce could sense Kevin Dawson’s sincerity.

"Assistant Dawson, I doubt you invited me here just for dinner. Please, feel free to speak plainly. What case does your company want me to handle?"

’Kevin Dawson loved dealing with intelligent people; it made things so much easier.’

"Since you’ve put it that way, Mr. Pierce, I won’t beat around the bush. There is indeed a case I’d like to ask for your help with."

Aaron Pierce set down his chopsticks and leaned back, relaxing into his chair. "I’m listening."

As he spoke, Kevin Dawson passed over a file he had prepared.

Aaron Pierce listened intently, his eyes briefly scanning the documents. When he saw the names of the two parties involved, a flicker of unconcealed surprise flashed in his eyes.

’It really is a small world.’

’Wren Sutton certainly had good connections. Both Spencer Sawyer and The Lancaster Group were concerned about her case, and both wanted him to help her win.’

"What a coincidence, Assistant Dawson. I just met with Ms. Sutton this afternoon."

Realization dawned on Kevin Dawson. "Mr. Pierce, are you saying..."

"Ms. Sutton and I have already reached an agreement. I will be handling her case personally." With that, Aaron Pierce handed the file back to Kevin Dawson.

"I won’t let her lose."

Aaron Pierce was curious about The Lancaster Group’s relationship with Wren Sutton, but as a rule, he never inquired about people or matters irrelevant to the chain of evidence in a case.

’Kevin Dawson grew pensive. He hadn’t expected Wren Sutton to move so quickly and contact Aaron Pierce before he could. President Lancaster would certainly have questions when he found out.’

’If he didn’t get a clear answer, he wouldn’t be able to report back properly.’

"Mr. Pierce, forgive me for asking, but I have one question."

"Please."

"I was just wondering, who introduced you to Ms. Sutton?" Kevin Dawson wasn’t yet ready to reveal Wren Sutton’s identity.
