Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Secretly Meeting a Man at Midnight

It all came back to Spencer Sawyer, and the effects of the alcohol had mostly worn off.

The sole reason he was in such a foul mood and had drunk so much tonight was that little kid’s words: "My mommy isn’t home."

He admitted that the words had hit him hard, but it was a reality he had to face.

"Spencer, what’s wrong?" Wren Sutton asked, noticing his strange expression. "Let me help you inside." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Spencer Sawyer snapped back to his senses and forced himself to stay calm.

He desperately wanted to ask Wren Sutton when she had gotten married, who the man was, and what he did for a living.

’Then again,’ he thought, ’I have no right to pry into her private life. I’m just an old friend from school, not her ex-boyfriend.’

"This is far enough. Thank you for all your trouble tonight. I’m fine, you should hurry home and get some rest. You don’t want your family to worry."

His words were perfectly reasonable, so Wren Sutton let go of him. Taking the hint, she stood at the doorway with no intention of going inside.

"Spencer, you get some rest too."

"Okay."

Spencer Sawyer closed the door, and Wren Sutton turned and walked into the elevator.

Back in her own apartment, Wren Sutton was relieved to see that Zoey was sleeping soundly and hadn’t woken up.

’Such a good girl,’ she thought.

...

「Jadeport. A hotel room.」

Adrian Lancaster stepped out of the bathroom just as a call came in from Maya Marshall.

He didn’t really want to answer, but he did anyway.

It was as if nothing had happened at the Marshall family’s home the other day. Maya Marshall didn’t sound the least bit guilty or embarrassed; she was acting just like her usual self, without a care in the world.

"Adrian, are you asleep?"

"What is it?" Adrian Lancaster was still stewing over what had happened, and his tone lacked its usual gentleness.

Maya Marshall didn’t know Adrian Lancaster had gone to Jadeport, but she was certain he wasn’t home. ’He’s probably spending the night at the office or a hotel,’ she thought.

’Otherwise, Wren Sutton wouldn’t have the guts to sneak out in the middle of the night to meet another man and cheat on Adrian.’

"Actually, there is something I have to tell you. It concerns both your reputation and that of the Lancaster family, so I can’t keep it to myself." Her voice was a perfect, calculated mix of reluctance and helplessness.

Adrian Lancaster’s expression turned icy, a storm brewing in his eyes. "What is it? Stop beating around the bush and just say it."

A triumphant smirk touched Maya Marshall’s lips.

’See? Even fate is on my side, letting me witness such a great show with my own eyes.’

"Just now, I was driving past The Starfish Grille when I saw Wren Sutton helping a man out of the restaurant. He seemed drunk—staggering all over the place, with his arm draped over her shoulder. Wren helped him into a car, and then she got in herself. I was going the other way, and by the time I turned around to follow, they were already gone. I don’t know where they went."

Upon hearing this, Adrian Lancaster flew into a rage. He ground his teeth, the veins on his temples throbbing.

’Wren Sutton, how dare you!’

’No wonder she refused to come to Jadeport. The Quinn family’s full moon banquet was just an excuse. The real reason she couldn’t leave was some other man!’

Maya Marshall continued to fan the flames. "Adrian, I swear, every word I said is true. I’m not lying to you. I have photos and a video for proof. Do you want to see them?"

An icy chill radiated from the depths of Adrian Lancaster’s eyes, and the air around him seemed to drop below freezing.

’She even has photos and a video.’

"Send them to me."

This was exactly what Maya Marshall had been waiting for. "Adrian, please don’t be angry. Maybe it’s not what we think. There might be some other explanation."

Adrian Lancaster warned her sharply, "Don’t let a single other person see those photos and that video. And make sure they don’t get out."

"Of course I won’t show anyone else. Don’t worry. As soon as I send them to you, I’ll delete them from my phone for good."

Adrian Lancaster hung up.

A few seconds later, a WeChat message arrived from Maya Marshall.

He quickly tapped it open.

Sure enough, the contents of the video were exactly as Maya Marshall had described.

Adrian Lancaster gritted his teeth, wishing he could reach right through the screen. "Wren Sutton, how dare you betray me."

There was no way he could swallow this insult.

He exited WeChat and immediately called Kevin Dawson.

"Book a flight. We’re flying back to Aston tonight."
