Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 96 - 95: Stella’s Secret
On the other hand, Eleanore had done wonders for a blooming couple.
Hael sat opposite Stella, in his carriage. Both uncomfortable and unable to break this silence that had plagued them for like eternity.
"How was your mission, duke?" Stella took the initiative to break it.
"It was good. But how did you know I was on a mission; it was a national secret." Hael asked, his expression indescribable.
"Um— that Elle— I mean Lady Eleanore told me. We read your letter together." She answers.
"Which one?" One of his eyebrows arched on hearing that.
"Did you send more than one?" She asked, unaware of the second letter that had arrived while she was unconscious from the assassination attack.
"I did. Looks like the one you read was the first one." He concludes.
"Indeed."
The conversation ended there, and Stella couldn’t find another topic to discuss, for like minutes. So, she gave up and instead moved her gaze to the road. This newly found freedom felt like a new world for her. This new world consisted of nothing new. The same old capital, people running here and there, children playing, people stopping by to see a fight that had arisen in the middle of the street.
Everything was the same, nothing changed. What changed was the air she was breathing in. It was filled with calmness and happiness. No worries, no Caelestis Lancaster to fear about, no body to be sacred of, nothing. Just complete freedom.
It didn’t take much long for the Sinclair Mansion to arrive. The butler and Dean were waiting at the entrance to welcome the duke, wearing a huge grin on their face.
Hael helped Stella down the carriage and walked up to his people. "You two look happy today? What’s wrong? Did Eleanore wake up or something?"
"Yes, my lord." Dean answered.
Heel wasn’t expecting that answer. He was dying to hear it and was scared that it would never happen.
His heart raced, as he thought about his sister waiting to meet her on her bed. All nice and healthy. Without waiting there to waste anymore second, he rushed to the main entrance and Stella followed him.
She lacked a bit behind, as she ran out of breath, once she had climbed the innumerable stairs of Sinclair mansion. How are there so many stairs here? And why?
Hael opened the door to his sister’s room and found Marina helping her up, probably taking her for a short walk or something. But he froze in his place when he saw her well, standing on her feet, laughing with her maid when she stumbled little.
"Elle!" He said, and Eleanore heard it.
She turned her gaze towards her brother, but before he could say anything more, a loud gush of wind passed by him.
"Elle!" Stella joyfully called her out, rushing to her and then pulling her into a hug. "I can’t believe you are awake. I was so scared." She cried.
Eleanore laughed when Stella hugged her and started crying like a baby. "I was also scared but now that I have seen you healthy and moving, I am overwhelmed by happiness."
Stella smiles brightly, before helping her sit back in her bed along with Marina.
Once she had taken back her spot on the bed, she turned to her brother. Eleanore extended her hand out in the air, calling her brother to come closer.
Hael walked to her and caught her hand, then quickly pulled her into a tight hug. "Thank you for coming back." He says,
"How could I not? I promised." She says, feeling a sense of relief on finally seeing the two people she wished to see the most.
Hael and Eleanore talked for a while. They heard about the mission. How he fought the enemy, about the dark mage and every challenge they faced, in detail.
After that Hael left to attend to his work. He had to prepare a report that was to be submitted to the King, in the upcoming meeting.
Stella found herself a spot next to Eleanore in her bed. They chewed on some grapes as they talked about a lot of things.
"When did you wake up?" Eleanore asked as the juice of the grapes busted out of its thin skin when she bit it in her mouth.
"Two days ago." She plucked another grape from its branch and threw it in her mouth. "Probably, after you left that day." she said, chewing the grape.
"Do you still feel pain?" Eleanore asked, turning her gaze back to her friend.
"No, when I woke up, I wondered if taking that poison was a dream? I couldn’t feel a thing." She laughed at that. "What about you? Are you still in pain?"
"A little. My leg hurts the most. Fortunately, it is not severely fractured. But sadly, I might have to stay bedridden for a few more days." She replies.
"I’m sorry." Stella gulped the remaining grapes in her mouth, feeling awful about this situation.
"It wasn’t your fault. I wasn’t kidnapped because of you." Eleanore tries to assure her.
"Then?"
Eleanore looked at Stella for a while. Wondering if it would be safe to share this detail with her.
"That’s a secret." She decided not to tell her, in the end.
"Why? Please, tell me." Stella asked, sulking.
"I will, if you tell me a secret of yours." She laughs at that cliche escape she used to evade from that question, only to be shocked by the secret Stella shares.
Stella straightens her back and turns to Eleanore. Her face carried that serious expression, making Eleanore gulp. Forcing her to feel anxious.
"I will tell you this. But you must keep it a secret. Promise?" She speaks.
Eleanore simply nods. She finds it hard to choke out words, too curious to hear this secret.
"Remember you asked me who I like, if not the grand duke, while I was unconscious? I am going to answer that." She begins, increasing the intensity and curiosity for that secret in Eleanore.
Stela lets out a big, excited smile. "I like your— brother." She reveals, leaving Eleanore in a complete aw.
"What?"
