Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 97 - 96: Their Love Story
It was the same occurrence again. Caelestis had come to Sinclair mansion again for the third time now. But she refused to meet him again. The fact that he didn’t believe in her and instead stood next to that foolish Dean, unsetted her.
Dean had always hated her, and she had put no efforts in making him like her. But it was different for Caelestis. True, he hated her and probably still hates her till date, but what about all her efforts in the last three months. Did they mean nothing? Did she not appear as a changed person?
How foolish of her to think that he had turned half of a better person than he ever was! A person can never change, no matter what you do because that’s in their nature.
Which makes her wonder, what could be the reason for him to appear consistently, every day at the Sinclair mansion with one request. To meet Eleanore, not Stella but Eleanore. For what exactly? To torment her and blame her like before?
"Ask him to leave and not show up again. It is embarrassing to refuse every day." She tells Marina, who nods before leaving the room.
Eleanore still couldn’t leave her bed. It felt like months sitting there, watching at the door waiting for someone, anyone to come entertain her. She felt helpless and half a human she used to feel. She couldn’t go to the bathroom on her own or take a peaceful stroll in the gardens of her home.
Once Marina had left, her eyes locked on the door, waiting for someone. For a second there she even imagined, Caelestis breaking into her room and demanding answers as to how she got that antidote. Suspecting her like always and blaming her like there was no tomorrow.
She sighed on that thought.
Fortunately, when the door clicked open again, it was not Caelestis. Instead, she found Stella standing there with a bright morning grin stuck on her face.
"Good morning, Elle." She says as she walks in like a child, hiding something behind her back. "I got you a little something." She adds.
Eleanore feels thrilled on hearing that. Stella tries to surprise her every day since she had started staying here, for her. It is not anything grand. Once it was a handmade cookie basket, another time it was a dress, she had stitched herself in a single night. And she appreciates it all.
Stella brought forward her gift. It was a hat decorated with fresh flowers, from the garden. She handed it over to her and Eleanore immediately knew that she might never wear it ever, but she would love to keep it safe in her closet, if only the flowers could last forever.
"It’s beautiful." She says, as she gently brushes her hand over those beautiful flowers. Their scent, so overwhelming and beautiful that Eleanore couldn’t stop feeling great, every time it passed through her nostrils.
"Then, should we go on a walk?" Stella asks, extending her hand in front.
Eleanore caught those thin, slender hands that were strong enough to help her up and support her while she took a small round of her room.
As they walked, Eleanore asked about the conversation they had last time. "Did you get a chance to talk to my brother?" She asked.
It was hard to believe but Eleanore accepted the fact that Stella likes Hael. After all, that’s the true destiny of the female lead, they are meant to be together. She almost cursed herself, for everything that she had done, to make things work between her and Caelestis. Then again, that was also essential to have Caelestis understand that Stella will never be his. So at least, her efforts weren’t wasted in this matter.
"No, that Dean. He just never leaves him alone." She sulks.
Eleanore chuckles at how cute she looked every time she did that. "He never lets me meet my own brother."
"Unbelievable. What a vile man!" They laugh together at that.
They come back to bed, and Stella helps her sit back in it. Eleanore didn’t want to but she had no choice. Her leg had started throbbing again. Any more walking and it would become unbearable.
"So, Stel." She begins, once Stella had also settled down beside her. "How did this happen?" She asked, out of curiosity.
Stella turned to her, puzzled by that question. "What?"
"I mean, you, falling for my brother. How did all that happen?"
"Ah! That. It’s a very embarrassing story." She blushed and Eleanore patiently waited for her to reveal it.
"It was my first debut in the noble world. The Hunting Festival." She begins.
Stella, a poor orphan girl, was nervous all day as she worked on her dress. She wanted it to look as unique and eye-catching as possible. For this was her only chance to make a place for herself in the wide world.
But she always doubted her great skills, a bit too much. Even when she had worn it and had set out for the banquet of the nobles, she still wasn’t very confident in that dress.
In the party she was introduced as a booming dress maker. A throng of men surrounded her, asking her various questions. Some of those questions were pretty uncomfortable. She had barely escaped from them, only to bump into another one.
But this one was a bit different. He didn’t say anything, just helped her from falling, when she dashed into him out of nowhere. After that he left. His silence was so charming that she was unable to forget his face for days since then.
"You are an excellent dressmaker. You should be more confident in yourself. Don’t take help from some noble to rise up, do it yourself." He once said, at a banquet where Eleanore had first time insulted her.
Hael had given a very important piece of advice and if she could, she would have loved to accept it, but nothing was in her hand. Caelestis’ friendship had become a burden and his favours a debt. One she could never relieve herself from.
After that she never again heard from Hael. He was a man who loved to observe the dumb nobles from a corner and ignore their foolishness, like it never happened.
Stella liked him from the moment he appreciated her skills. It was for the first time anyone ever talked about her dress and not her body that complemented their designs.
At every banquet / gathering. She would simply look at him from far away and feel happy with just that. She never once thought that Hael would ever notice her and that she had a chance to become the duchess of the kingdom. She never wanted those things to begin with.
Until her crush changed, to that blooming love she had never felt before. A love so sweet, and mesmerizing that it gave her the strength to accept her feelings.
When his lips touched hers that day, she knew that it was him she wanted, and it was him she would love till the very end.
She knew it, that she loved him and it would never leave her heart even if he never accepts it.
"My brother kissed you. When?" Eleanore was shocked to hear about that.
"It wasn’t exactly a kiss. It was more like a method to have me drink that antidote." She corrects her.
"Wow! That’s so romantic. Almost like a fairytale." She laughed, when she saw Stella blush hard on that.
Seconds later, her face rose out of her palm, her expression showing determination, as if she was about to go on a war. "Elle!"
"Yes."
"You might not think I am capable of being the duchess. You might also think that he is too good for me. But even if you start bullying me again, I will at least let him know that I love him." She says, making Eleanore burst into laughter.
"I would never do that again, ever. To be honest, I like to picture you as my sister in law." She holds both of Stella’s hands tightly. "Believe me, I would love to play wingman for you guys, if need be." She says that with utmost sincerity.
"Oh! Stop it." Stella pulls her hand out of hers and hides her face in her knees in embarrassment.
Eleanore couldn’t help but laugh again, enjoying her expressions that changed every minute. But this happiness in her didn’t live for long.
Immediately, as if to remind her that the world she is in is not real and that she has a mission to complete, the system window erupted in front of her.
