Chapter 93: Chapter 92: The Pleas

"We don’t have that amount of time. By the time I test that thing, she would be dead. She doesn’t have much time left." The doctor concludes. "Duke, we must try with whatever we have."

Hael nodded, understanding his words. He walked ahead but was blocked by Caelestis.

"I can’t let you give her an unknown substance." He says.

"Move." Hael tries to shove him away, but he doesn’t budge. "Caelestis!" He shouts his name. "I won’t let my sister’s efforts go to waste. She almost died to get this. So, get out of my way—"

The doctor and Dean, who had followed his master back here, caught Caelestis by both his hands and pulled him out of Hael’s way.

Hael knelt at the bed side and gently raised Stella up placing his hand under her head. Her skin had turned pale, and it looked like her body had no blood left in it. It felt strange as if she would wither away any second.

He shakes away that dense, unsettling feeling and opens the wooden cap of the jar, but how to make her drink it?

"She can’t gulp like that." The doctor hints.

Without thinking twice, Hael drank the antidote and then passed it to Stella by his mouth. When his lips touched her dry ones, he could taste the metallic taste of the blood. It was so overwhelming and strong that Hael couldn’t bear to continue, but he held it in, till he slowly passed the whole liquid to Stella’s mouth and she had gulped it.

Eleanore felt a gentle and warm touch as she remained unconscious in her bed. She was unaware of how long it had been. All she could remember was a voice and that warm touch. It didn’t belong to Hael, she knew it. But then who? —Was a question hanging in her mind.

"Please wake up." Multiple people had said that to her and she heard it all. For everyone’s sake she even wished to not bother them and wake up, but she was too tired to do that.

"I am begging you." It was that voice again. Eleanore realised that this voice only came at this time and only said this one line. "Wake up. I admit it was my fault. Please forgive me and wake up already." It sounded like he was almost begging her. His voice sounded thin with every passing day.

"Eleanore, I regret— I regret not standing up for you. So please, wake up and give me a chance to ask for forgiveness." It was another day, his words changing dramatically as if he can’t wait anymore.

It felt as if he was drifting away with every visit and Eleanore didn’t want that to happen. She wanted to see who this person was, earnestly begging for her to wake up. His words, his huge hand and his warmth, she didn’t want to lose them.

Thus, although her body was not ready, she opened her eyes to the brightness of the world in front of her. The world she does not belong to but has somehow made a place for herself in it.

The same old ceiling had domed over her. It was the ceiling under which she had awoken the first time she entered this world. It is the Sinclair mansion, and this is her room in her home.

Her fingers twitched and the one who had held that slender palm immediately saw her open eyes. He couldn’t hold back his happiness and immediately hugged her.

Eleanore felt a large body press over hers and the warmth she felt was somewhat different. When he rose, Eleanore could finally catch a glimpse of his face.

His long black hair brushed through her face as he turned to call a doctor. His emerald ribbon that tied his slippery, soft hair together, fluttered and she knew who it was.

Victor.

Was it Victor all along?

The doctor rushed in to check on her, she looked fine, but her leg was still not moving very well. It hurt every time she made a movement. Not just in her leg but in her entire body.

Hours later Marina arrived with food and Victor almost snatched it away from her and asked her to leave. To be honest, Eleanore had a lot of questions to ask Marina, like where exactly her brother is. Why is she not with her, instead?

"Elle! Is it hot?" He asked as he helped her drink some nice hot soup, which he had himself blown too cold.

"No. It’s tasty." She says, taking in another scoop of it.

"Would you like something else?" He asked.

"No." They turned quiet after that, until Eleanore had eaten all of it. She was so hungry that it felt like she had been starving for a century. Which reminded her, how long has it been?

And then a stream of questions flowed in her mind,

Where is Verbena?

That man that helped?

Is Stella, okay?

Is she alive?

Wait, what about the system, why is it so silent?

Did she even complete the emergency quest?

Immediately as she thought about it, as if the system had heard her thoughts, it emerged in front of her.

’Does that mean that Stella is alive?’

"How is stella?" She asked, as she saw Victor get up from the chair.

Victor sighed and took back his seat.

"Yes." He replied. "She is fine and healthy but unconscious from the last time I heard."

"What does that mean?"

"I haven’t left Sinclair mansion, ever since you got here." He explained.

"How long?" Eleanore asked, curious about how long she had been bedridden.

"Two days." He replies.

"Phew!" She exhaled. "That means I had been out for just two days. That’s a relief."

Victor’s expression changed on hearing that. He felt hesitant. He opened his mouth once to say something but stopped. Then as if avoiding Eleanore’s gaze, he looked around.

"How long have I been out?" She finally asked and Victor felt burdened.

"Something, two weeks." He replies, hesitantly.

"Two weeks?!" She felt shocked.

Just then the notification in front of her changed.
