Chapter 91: Chapter 90: A Brother’s Love For His Sister

"Elle! Don’t move. Stay there." Hael calls her from across the room that had caught fire.

Eleanore had found herself surrounded by the hot flames of fire and there seemed to have been no way out. She looked around and realised this was one of her memories’ dreams.

When she was ten her whole room had caught fire. In that fire everything burned away along with her distorted memories.

The one who had saved her was her brother Hael. The butler and the remaining knights that had decided to keep the Sinclair family’s legacy safe, tried to stop him from entering. He fought, till the end and jumped into the fire alone, then brought her out alive.

Eleanore’s back had burned a little and it was from then on that she had gotten asthma. For days she didn’t wake up and when she did, it stunned everyone in the mansion.

"Elle!" Hael hugged her immediately. "Are you okay? Does it hurt anywhere?" He asks.

Little Eleanore looks at him wearing a puzzled expression. "What do you mean? Am I hurt?" She asked as if she had forgotten everything.

"Your room had caught fire." Hael explained, stunned to see her like that.

"When?" She tilted her little head.

"Don’t you remember?"

"Uh-huh!" She shook her head.

"Eleanore?" Before he could say anymore, the doctor stopped him.

Since then, Eleanore couldn’t even remember that she had a mother, a father. She had even forgotten about her godmother and godfather, who had only died a few days ago. For Eleanore her only world and family were Hael and Caelestis.

Caelestis barged into her room a day later, when he found out that she had forgotten about not only her parents but also his.

"How can you not remember?" He asked. "Where did my mom go?"

"You have a mom?" She asked, still in the bed and injured from the incident.

"Of course. I do."

"I’m sorry, I don’t know what you’re talking about." She could feel a sharp pain in her head, until Caelestis suddenly pulled her wrist close to him.

"How can you not remember? My mother— She took you somewhere but only you returned. Where did she go?" He yelled, scaring her.

One of the knights guarding her room caught him and pulled him out of the room while he continued asking about his mother.

"Where is my mother?" He asked again as the door shut on him.

Eleanore’s eyes jolted open to the beautiful scenery in front of her. The dense leaves of the trees she had bumped into as she fell, were protecting her from the sharp rays of the sun. Yet a few broke through the small distance between the leaves to probably wake her up.

The sun was high up, Eleanore was not sure what time it was, and it was surprising that she was still lying where she had fallen, hours ago. The people who were supposed to come an hour later, never arrived yet the burning smell from above the tower had vanished.

Maybe those people did come but they never noticed her fallen in the dense forest. Eleanore thought that maybe her luck was too good. She was able to fight those huge bulky men, with those useless items the system had provided. Then she fell from about five storeys high and yet she was still alive and if that all was not enough, she was safe and sound, unseen by her enemies.

Just how well had these trees hid her?

Eleanore tried to move, but her leg wouldn’t move no matter how hard she tried. The hand that she had used to protect her head with, was also stuck beneath her.

’Maybe my luck isn’t that great, after all . Looks like I broke a hand and a leg.’

She tried to give her body some time, to help her mind catch some waves from her nerves. Soon her hand under her head moved and she was able to get it out. It had turned red and except for being a little scraped on the back of her palm, it looked fine. It was not broken.

But she couldn’t say that for her right leg, it just couldn’t move. It doesn’t look anything severe, but it looks like she might not be able to leave her bed for a few days once she reaches home.

She sat up and tried to get on her feet, putting all her weight on her left leg. She leaned her back on a tree trunk once up she was standing and realized that those two limbs were not the only ones that were hurting. In fact, her whole body was in immense pain.

There were few scratches in her elbows and arms, her waist was painful, she suspected that some of her ribs might be broken maybe, but it was just an estimate.

Eleanore decided to ignore all of this and go back to the Lancaster mansion, as she knew that Stella needed her.

With the help of her new memories, she found out that the tower she was locked in is in the dense forest situated behind the Lancaster mansion. If a healthy person walks a whole day they can easily return back to the mansion by midnight.

However, Eleanore was not in a condition to walk that much, even if she tried by the time she’d reach, Stella would be dead. She exhales at that thought, holding onto a thin branch holding out from a wide tree trunk, she had come across as she walked.

She couldn’t see anymore. Her vision had blurred and soon her sanity would be as well. Her body was giving up and no matter how much she tried to motivate them, they wouldn’t listen. There was no way she could walk any longer.

When she looked over her shoulder, to see how far she had gotten from the tower, she felt disappointed. The tower was still visible; it was pretty close. The tip of it was still not within her area of vision. It was hidden somewhere in the sky.

Eleanore cried as she felt defeated. ’What to do now? I can’t do this anymore. I’m too tired and it hurts.’

Just as she started to lose hope, she heard it. A voice far away from her but it was not clear. She tried to focus all her strength on hearing and heard it. Her name. "Elle!" There are only four people who call her by her pet’s name.

And she knew it. This voice belonged to her brother, Heal. He is back from the mission, right on time, to save her. Like always. She can expect this from no one but her brother. She can only rely on him.

"Brother!" She said, it was barely a whisper.

Looks like she is indeed very lucky. Very lucky!

Eleanore gulped, her throat felt dry when her saliva passed through it. She sat down on the roots of that tree that almost felt like a natural bench made only for her and tried to gather her strength.

"Brother!" She screamed, painfully and he heard it in one go.

"Elle! Where are you?" He yells back.

"Brother—" She wanted to tell him that she was near the tower, but her throat was too dry and her energy was too low.

"Yes, where are you?"

"Bro—th—er!" That was all she could say.

"Stay there. I am coming." Eleanore hears a horse neighing, and its footsteps tapping on the rigid ground, close by. "Keep calling me." He demands and Eleanore follows.

She doesn’t stop and continues calling Hael, until he emerges from between the trees, as if tearing through them just for his sister. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Immediately as he sees her, he gets down the running horse and rushes to her. He brings her face in the bowl, made out of his two palms and tears start forming behind the whites of his eyes.

"What happened?" He couldn’t bear to see her in that state.

Her face was badly scarred, she looked exhausted, her body looked exhausted. Hael couldn’t understand what he was feeling right now inside him. It was a mixture of everything. Anger, fear, pity, helplessness, scared, everything, all at once.

"I was kidnapped." Her voice barely escaped from her mouth.

Hael immediately pulled her into a hug on hearing that. "Don’t worry. I got you." He says, to assure her.

Eleanore closed her eyes in relief as she felt the warmth of the brother in her arms and knew for sure that now, she was safe.

"We must hurry brother." Eleanore pulls herself out of his protective embrace. "Stella is dying." She speaks.

"I don’t care." He spits out, as soon as he hears that vile woman’s name. He hated her. He hated her to the core. It was because of her that Eleanore is in this state. It was because of her that the three of them were having these rifts between them. It’s all because of her. It’s all her fault.

"But I do." Eleanore pulls out the small jar of antidote from her pocket and passes it to her brother. "Keep it safe. This is the antidote of the poison she took. I can’t explain more, right now. But believe me this will save her and only this."

"We need to tend to you first. Look at how—" Eleanore cuts him off.

"Brother, please. Promise me you will have her drink this no matter what." She holds out her hand waiting for him to hold it. "Promise me, you will save her. Promise me, when I wake up, she will be there to welcome me back. Promise me."

Hael’s tears that he had worked so hard on holding back, started streaming down his eyes. His sister was in a state that is indescribable and yet all she cares about is that damn woman. What’s so great about her that everyone wants her around them?

"I promise." he tightly grabs her hand

Eleanore felt relieved on hearing that. Soon she lost her consciousness and fell into his arms.
