Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 77 - 76: Villain’s Changed Behaviour

The maids, who had been destroying Eleanore’s property, stopped. Sensing tension between the two. The servants and maids who were not involved, had all gathered around the room. Enjoying a show, they might never get to see it again.

The head maid Sierra was passing by the third floor, seeing if everything was going well. Immediately as she started to climb back down, she heard loud shouting coming from Lady Eleanore’s room. She quickly marched to the open entrance of the room and was taken aback by the chaos in the room.

She knew Adena was a brat but to this extent? Instead of interfering here and getting on the bad side of Adena, she chose to go call her master.

Adena, furious by all the questions, Eleanore was shooting her way, all she wanted to do today was show this person her place. How dare she meet alone with Caelestis? How dare she join hands with him? Laugh for him, smile for him? Why her? Caelestis is and will always be hers. No matter what happens.

She straightened her back, getting her head straight and calming her fiery nerves and moved closer to Eleanore, almost eradicating the distance between them, completely. "I can do whatever I want. While you are a guest, I am a member of this family." She says, her words barely understandable as she talked through her teeth.

Eleanore simply smirks at that. "And yet you are disrespecting an esteemed guest of your family. You are doing a great job as a member of this family."

"I don’t care." She screamed, losing her temper again.

"Who the hell gave you the permission to enter my room?" Eleanore raised her voice as well, as her own anger surged in. She curled her fingers into a fist, digging deep into her own palm. "I am the only sister of the duke of Sinclair. How dare you disrespect me?"

"You. Are. No. One." Adena counters, as if by saying that, she could erase Eleanore’s identity.

Eleanore is and will always be higher in status than her. She can deny it but can’t change it.

"Let’s see what the grand duke has to say about that." Eleanore turned to leave her room.

For a second there, Adena her nerves going numb. She was scared that this might actually get her in trouble. What if Caelestis truly kicks her out?

To stop Eleanore from leaving the room and complaining about this to her brother. She tried to catch a hold of her and pull her back but instead caught a piece of fabric of her dress and tore it off, accidentally.

Eleanore was wearing a thin, sleeveless, cotton night dress that day. What Adena had caught was the strap of that dress, which with one pull snapped off of her skin.

"Adena!" A loud shout from across the room, made her shiver in fear. It was Caelestis and he had seen it all.

Caelestis marched towards them and gently covered Eleanore in his coat, before turning to Adena. "What are you doing?" He asks, his eyes filled with anger far fiercer than her own.

"I— that—" She stammered. "I didn’t do it for one purpose." She said like a brat who never accepts her own mistake. "I found out that the assassin first appeared in this room. I only came to look for some clues."

"Clues? You were looking for clues? Really? Doesn’t look like that to me." He yelled. "Look what you have done to her room?" He points out all of the things that belong to Eleanore, thrown on the ground, turning the room into the mess it is now.

"Who gave you the permission to pull off this act?" He questioned.

"You said I could help." She argues.

"I asked for help, not arrogance." He had almost lost it. "How dare you insult my guest, Adena?"

Caelestis was about to grab her wrist and pull her out of Eleanore’s room but was interrupted by Eleanore’s sudden appearance between the two siblings.

"Lady Adena Velrose. What you did today is unforgivable." She says, ready to get out of the room instead, to get fresh air. She was very angry and if it was in her power, she would have loved to punish her accordingly. But she brought herself together and realised, it would be best if the matter settled down just like that. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

But Adena’s arrogance had no end. She just couldn’t take this kindness, Eleanore was offering and stayed out of her life.

"I do not need your forgiveness. I didn’t do it on purpose." She yelled.

And just then to serve her right for her trashy words, Eleanore had a gift, her right hand had been itching to give.

A slap landed across her face, hard enough to make her bite her lip and bleed. Adena held the wounded chin in her palm, as she turned back to look at Eleanore, in her same stupid fierce eyes, which no one was scared of.

"I thought you were clever, at first. When you came here, I realized you can be dumb too and now I have officially concluded that you are nothing but a shameless bitch." Eleanore remarked in a stern, commanding voice. "This is a piece of gift for you, in the name of your shamelessness. Hope it stays as a mark on your face forever."

Eleanore turns to leave, but Caelestis stops her by simply extending his arm in front of her. His facial expression trying to convince her to stay, when he saw her blazing anger rising in her scarlet eyes and yet a small tear lying in the corner.

"Adena, Leave." He said, turning back to her sister. His voice was so chilling that Adena couldn’t bring herself to open her dumb mouth again.

Any more argument could kick her out of this mansion. She knew. Thus, she obeyed and left.

Caelestis’ extended arm wraps around her shoulders, as he turns to the invigilators. "Get back to work. All of you." He ordered, his voice not changing the tone in which he had ordered Adena.

The crowd leaves, even Marina follows them out. She closes the door behind her back. When Victor emerges into the corridor.

"I heard, Lady Adena started a commotion here?" He said, when he saw Marina patiently waiting at the door.

"Yes." She answers.

Victor turns to open the door and tries to enter the room, but Marina stops her.

"The grand duke is currently in there." She speaks. "You are late. So please wait for him to leave."

In the afternoon, after doing a regular checkup of Stella, the doctor called for the duke and Lady Eleanore in emergency.

Eleanore had barely started to eat her lunch, when the butler burst in to request her presence in Caelestis’ room, where Stella is staying. She left her food and made it on time, when the doctor had just started talking.

"Don’t worry, he has not said anything yet." Caelestis assured her.

"Yes, my lady. The grand duke believes that you have just as much right as him to know what is going on with the Baroness." The doctor explains.

Eleanore turned her gaze back to Caelestis, as she stood next to him.

’He has changed.’ She continues to look his way.

This morning too he was acting differently. He took Eleanore’s side over his beloved cousin’s. ’Just why is he acting so kind, out of nowhere?’ Eleanore had been having this question hanging over her mind all day.

When Marina closed the door, Caelestis sat next to her on her bed and tried to console her. He said various things. Things like, he was sad his cousin pulled off such an evil act and that she shouldn’t have acted like that.

He also tried to assure her that he would punish Adena for that. Then added that he couldn’t believe she could ever behave like that. He was always under the facade that she was a kind, quiet person, who preferred to stay out of messy situations.

However, out of all those things, one conversation that even if she tried, she would never forget, was when she asked a rather valid question.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" She asked, as her nails dug into the coat, he had given to her and her eyes that had remained on the messy floor, all along the little speech Caelestis had given, never moved.

"Did you forget, Lady Eleanore? I vowed to be a good friend of yours yesterday and friends stand for each other, even if they are wrong." He scoffed seconds after saying that. "Ha! Moreover, you were right in this. How could I not stand up for you?"

Eleanore vividly remembered how her heart had fluttered on hearing that. Caelestis had changed at that very moment. He no longer appeared as a monster to her, but how? How did he change so much?

Did he change because she stopped obsessing over him or because she was able to somehow mend the toxic relationship between Stella and him? Just why?

"Koh! Koh!" The doctor coughed, bringing Eleanore out of her past memory and her eyes off Caelestis.

"Regrettably, my lord, my lady. I must convey this news, that if the Baroness does not wake up from her slumber within a day, she might fall into a coma. If that happens, we might lose her."

Unfortunately, it was the sad news that he wanted to relay.
