Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 76 - 75: Adena’s Jealousy
The pouring rain had turned the environment of the beautiful garden gloomy. The cold freshwater droplets were sending shivers down those attending this event and yet the one hosting it were without any umbrella. The three family members stood there under the cold rain and yet couldn’t feel a single droplet touching their body.
Others were shocked to see that even the strong duchess of Sinclair could break like that. She had always been a fighter, full of spirit, always happy and loud. Thus, today when she has gone silent, no one felt good about it. They felt as if someone had drilled an empty hole in their hearts. On realising that that hole won’t be filled in soon, all of their faces fell.
The duchess had held both her children’s hands in her two cold ones. The warm tears that met with the cold droplets made it hard for her to distinguish between the true temperature clouding her body.
Hael had sealed his mouth. Just seconds ago, he was playing with his best friend and then a heart wrenching news arrived in the mansion. His father was murdered by assassins disguised as thugs, in the middle of the most flooded street of the capital. The duke lost his life almost immediately, at the sight. Giving no time to his loved ones to even bid him goodbye.
The little girl on the other side had no idea what was going on. What is death? She didn’t know and yet she felt a plague of sadness in her heart and again, couldn’t understand why. She turned to her mother, whose eyes looked blank as they stared at the black coffin lying under a large tree.
Eleanore, curious about it all, asked her mother, anyway. "What is all this mommy? Why are we standing? It’s cold and where is dad?" She asked, and started looking around to find her dad but couldn’t find him.
She then settled on listening to her mother’s answer. She waited for a long time but still got no response in return. To get the answer, Eleanore vigorously shook her mother’s hand and continued to bombard her with questions.
As an elder brother, Hael took it upon himself to explain the situation to his little sister. He let go of her mother’s hand and walked towards his sister. "Elle! Father has gone far away. You can no longer meet him." He says, trying to sound as considerate and sensible, as possible.
"Why? I want to play super-woman with him." She says, unable to understand her brother’s mysterious words. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"You can’t. He is gone. Forever." He repeats his harsh words again.
Offended by her brother’s words, little Eleanore starts yelling and crying. "I wann my dada!" She cries, stomping her legs on the ground.
Once her cries get loud enough to reach the duchess’s ears, she simply picks her up in her arms and cares her to sleep.
Eleanore wakes up again. She slept last night expecting to remember some heartfelt moments with her father and mother but instead a sad reality, that she had to learn at a very young age surged in.
A small tear escaped her eyes as the sun rose in her room, followed by many others. She had truly come to hate sleeping and waking up to such sad memories, as if she had once lived them.
Marina had prepared a bowl of warm water for her mistress to wash her face in.
However, when she saw her crying silently, her mind went blank. She removed the thin curtains covering her bed, "What’s wrong, my lady?" She asked, concerned.
"Nothing." Eleanore uses her sheets to whip off her tears.
Just then the door to her room barges open, almost banging on the walls behind, without any warning or permissions. The two ladies in the room turned their gaze to see who had the nerves to pull such an insolent move?
It was someone, whom even Caelestis can’t stop from doing whatever she wants.
Adena Velrose.
She entered the room with a wide smile stuck on her annoying face. She walked into someone else’s room confidently, accompanied by some of her minion maids, Eleanore had noticed since she moved here and had remembered.
"Search the room." She orders. The maids quickly disperse into different directions.
One opens the closet and starts searching for something, almost tearing some of the material off her dress she was supposed to wear today and for the next few days. Marina had worked all night yesterday to iron them up and neatly arrange them according to days.
Another one slips into Eleanore’s wardrobe and lord knows what she might be doing in there, probably ruining all her expensive dresses. Fortunately, most of the wardrobe was empty, since Eleanore hadn’t brought all her collection here.
Marina found another maid, running her hands through Eleanore’s cabinet. She couldn’t take this chaos anymore, when one of the maids just simply pulled her mistress’ bedsheet off her.
"How dare you?" Her rageful words, almost terrifying the maid who had pulled that dumb stunt, probably on the orders of Adena.
Eleanore gently got out of her bed and stopped Marina from pulling all the hair out of that maid’s scalp. "Marina, the lady wants to play detective. Let her have fun." She says, succeeding in pulling that delicate nerve of Adena.
"I am not playing. I am actually trying to find clues." She rants in frustration.
"Oh, really? Then tell me, Lady Adena Velrose. What clues did you find? And what clue led you to my room." Eleanore folded her arms around her chest, as she asked a pretty genuine question. She had the right to know the reason behind this chaos in her room.
"I am running through all the rooms in the mansion." It was a lie. Eleanore knew it. Adena just wanted to bully her.
From the moment she debuted in the noble society, Adena believed she was her competition and that she deserved everything Eleanore had more than her.
"And the first one you had to run through was mine?" She said in sarcasm.
