Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 64 - 63: The Enchanted Closet
The man had covered himself in complete black. Except for his murderous eyes nothing else was visible. Stella could feel beads of sweat forming down her hairline and cold sweat streaming down her spine.
The sword sliced through the wind when it was pulled out of its scabbard, then accompanied Eleanore’s scream. Asking Stella to come towards her. When she straightened her head, she saw Eleanore rushing back to her. She knew, by the time Elle reaches here, she would already be dead.
Obeying her friend’s words, Stella sprinted to her way. In seconds, Eleanore grabbed her hand and started pulling her out of the room. The head maid had already called the awakened people in the mansion by her scream.
The assassin followed them in a speed unmatchable by them. He was going to catch up with them before they could even leave the room. His sword an inch away from Stella, but before it could land on her, another word blocked.
Caelestis pushed back the sword of the assassin and in one go he had his head flying away. Eleanore heard the painful screech, but she believed in ignoring it.
Another assassin emerged in the room from the same balcony. Striking his sword in anger, revenge breaming in his eyes, for the death of his comrade. Stunned by the sudden attack, Caelestis dodged it but a scar had fallen on his right shoulder.
The clashing of swords echoed in the mansion, waking every sleeping staff. When Eleanore and Stella were in the empty corridor, they heard another clanking sound not that far from them. Going any further was dangerous.
Without thinking twice, Eleanore entered into an empty guest room that came up next. She locked the door from inside, and cursed this damn situation and the damn system that didn’t provide a warning at all. She looked for a place to hide, when Stella took the charge and opened the huge wooden closet in the far-left corner of the room.
They sat inside and closed the doors of the closet, leaving a little place for the air to pass through. They huffed vigorously from the energy they had exhausted by running this far. Their fast-beating hearts were audible to both. That’s when Eleanore realised, there should have been a third person. The head maid.
"Did you see the head maid?" Eleanore whispered.
Stella shook her head, before clearing her throat. "She was ahead of us, wasn’t she?"
"No, She was behind." Eleanore remembered the head maid standing at the door as they sprinted off to nowhere in the dark corridor of the third floor.
She exhaled, wondering what might have happened to her. Then remembered that Caelestis had arrived on time. She must be safe with him.
Just as she continued to dwell in her thoughts, the clicking sound of the knob echoed in the silence of the room. The two women held their breath and covered up their mouths with their hands, upon hearing that sound. Seconds later, a loud bang landed on the door, as if someone was pushing all their body weight to break open the locked door.
Eleanore shivered in fear, slowly feeling dizzy from the amount of tension and fear that had enveloped her. She leaned behind on the wooden side panel of the closet. Her breathing, speeding at a dangerously high note.
"Eleanore!" The voice from outside called her out.
The world in front of her eyes started spinning, when the man’s shouting turned into an ethereal and calm voice of a woman.
"Eleanore!" She heard, her blurred eyes finding a beautiful woman standing in front of her. Her cheeks were between the two palms of that woman. "Honey!"
Her eyes were welled up in tears, finding it hard to hold themselves in as she spoke. "Stay here. Mommy will be back to get you. Okay?" Her sweet voice cracking after every word she spoke.
The door of the room dashed open due to the continuous beating. "Lady Eleanore! Baroness Stella!" The man called them out again, as he walked into the room with the tapping sound of his shoes.
The woman let out a single tear from her eyes. Her lips sucked into her mouth as she continued to resist herself from shedding out the stream of departure that had overwhelmed her heart. The agony, the pain, the sadness was all visible in her eyes, that had the same shade as hers.
"I am Victor!" The man yelled. But that was not enough to bring Eleanore out of what she was seeing. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Stella saw Eleanore’s strange stare. She was crying, while staring at something above her. Her body was shivering a little and there was a hint of sadness in her eyes.
"Elle!" She called out but got no response in return.
She opened the two doors of the closet and Victor quickly spotted them, in the darkness. He rushed to them, shifting his bloodied sword in his left hand and pulled the handle of the right-side door. Only to find Eleanore, in a state he couldn’t quite describe.
"Lady Eleanore? Are you fine?" He asked, but she didn’t respond.
Defeated, he turned to Stella. "We do not have an exact count of the assassins. I killed two and the Grand Duke is dealing with the rest. He asked me to bring you two to his study." He explained the situation to her.
Stella nodded and crawled out of the closet. After getting on her feet, she turned to Eleanore and grabbed her hand. However, her attempt to pull her up on her feet was unsuccessful. With her strength, she couldn’t even move her.
"Let me help." Stella moved and let Victor grab her arm. He quickly helped her stand on her knees.
When she was out of the closet. As if it were a spell in that closet that was broken, Eleanore got her consciousness back. She was out of those memories that had taken away her movement and consciousness. It was like a spell, she never wanted to experience, again.
"Victor?" She was surprised to see him, her eyes still wet from tears.
"Elle." He softly placed one of his warm palms on her cheek, making her feel secure. "We must evacuate."
She didn’t need more explanation. With a nod, she held Stella’s hand again and started following him outside the room.
