Chapter 62: Chapter 61: Letter From Her Dear Brother

A beautiful white bird came and landed on Eleanore’s balcony. At first, she didn’t even realise that something like that was waiting for her, until it started kicking the window door with its tiny legs.

Eleanore, who had laid down alongside Stella, asking the details of what had happened in the Banquet, stood up at the sound of that.

She swiftly made her way to the window door and opened it, only to be greeted by the bird her brother had once used to send a letter to Caelestis. A small piece of paper was tied to its right leg, in a tiny roll.

She remembered her brother’s words. He had said he would send letters when the mission reaches its end. A big happy smile broke on her face, as if he was her real brother and not just a fictional character.

Stella followed her from behind and was confused by the strange bird sitting on the balcony railing as if it owns it. Her friend rushed back in and pulled out a sachet from her cabinet. Without any detail, she emptied the sachet, which contained bird food, on the floor of the balcony. She swiftly loosened the tightly tied piece of paper off his feet.

"What is that?" Stella finally asked, out of curiosity.

"A letter." Eleanore continued smiling as she started to unroll the letter that seemed small but was instead quite big. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"From whom?" Stella tried to peek but then composed herself, trying to maintain her ladylike demeanor.

"My brother." She replied as she started reading the letter.

Dear, my little sister,

It began, almost making Eleanore cringe over how Hael never forgets to add little as a suffix to sister even in a simple letter.

I am well and have earned a lot here. The nights are silent most of the time, but I always find work for myself, to remain busy. However, there hasn’t been a single day or night, I haven’t worried about you. The dry winds here, force me to remember where I have left you alone.

I hope no soul in that house is creating any trouble for you and I hope your insomnia is not acting up. I wish for you to have a good sleep every night while I am away.

All that aside, I am writing this letter to inform you that, my dear little sister, I will be back soon. Keep yourself safe for a little longer from this monstrous world. May we have a reunion soon.

Your loving brother,

Harry

"Harry? But isn’t your brother’s name Hael?" Stella asked as she reached the end of the letter. "And why does the letter sound like he is some common man who left his sister alone in this lonely world?" She was confused.

"Well, for starters. Harry is probably his fake name; he might have adopted it there. Earn means evidence and that the time has come to strike on Koa. He said, "monstrous world", referring to the Grand duke and he also said that he will be arriving soon." Eleanore answered.

Something in Stella lit up. For some reason, she felt a strange happiness for someone she had never even spoken to.

The still weather in the lands made Hael sweat as he looked outside the half-constructed factory window. He could only wish that the letter passes the verification and reaches his sister. "A few more days and I can finally see her." He murmured.

"Will your dumb sister even understand the letter?" Azriel spoke up, forgetting that the person standing in front of him was not Harry but his captain.

Hael glared at the general standing behind him. Laurent understood the situation and blew an elbow on Azriel’s stomach.

"I apologise, Captain." He bowed.

"My sister is not dumb, she has always been clever and did a good job at hiding her intelligence, that’s all." Hael, offended by his comrade, defended his sister.

"Yes, captain."

Hael rolled his eyes in disbelief before releasing an exhausted sigh. "Are you ready?"

The two generals had worn a black suit, to make it easy to camouflage themselves, in the shadows. They shook their heads in agreement. Then tied the mask around their mouth. Hael too tied the black cloth around his mouth to hide his identity.

"Let’s go and bring an end to this mission. Laurent. Guide the way." Hael ordered.

Before they left the building, Hael found Azriel’s eyes filled with worry. He believed that his kind general was still worried about the innocents, who might get hurt in today’s raid. Especially his one-month long partner Kar.

Hael patted on his shoulders. "Don’t worry. We will try our best to save the innocents." He spoke.

Azriel gulped on hearing that.

They swiftly and silently walked down to the underground entrance, which Laurent had found. The canal was a sewage system connecting to the main castle.

The exit was pretty far away from the room where Koa resides. He avoids leaving his heavily guarded room, from the fear of getting assassinated, the moment he steps out. Perhaps, he was aware of the sinister things he had done and was escaping his judgment.

They quickly neared the exit and entered an empty corridor in the west of the castle. According to Laurents finding, the corridor where the exit opens up should be empty. It was empty but strangely dark.

Although this place is rarely visited by anyone from the castle, it shouldn’t be unlit. Laurent felt as if something was off, but he wasn’t sure.

Is it possible that the maid in charge of lighting up the corridor, when the evening falls, could have forgotten her task or gotten sick? Considering how deserted this place is, no one else took up the task. But what are the odds of that?

"Captain!" He called out his superior, unwilling to take any risks. "The lights shouldn’t be off." He remarked.

"That’s right!" A voice came from the shadows. "The lights were turned off for your welcome."
