Chapter 50: Chapter 49: The Scared Villain

Another hour passed and Marina also joined them. When Stella saw her descending the stairs, she quickly climbed the remaining ones to reach her. "Is there any special place Elle likes to visit?" She aside.

Marina was shocked when Stella suddenly arrived at her face. She heard her question and pondered over it for a moment then shook her head.

Disappointed, Stella descended down the stairs with Marina.

"You should sit down for a while Stella." Caelestis suggested.

"My leg isn’t important right now, Grand duke. Are you not scared for her? Look at the time!" She argued. Disbelief creeping up her veins on seeing that coming from Caelestis. He should be more scared than her. Eleanore is his responsibility.

Caelestis turned her head to the left of the hall, from where he was standing. It was past ten now, and none of his knights had found Eleanore yet.

Of course, he was worried. What if someone had kidnapped her or worse killed her off. How would he answer his best friend? Deep inside, he knew well that Hael would kill him for this mistake.

He gulped, his mind racing and coming to a decision seconds later. "Butler." He called out the butler of the house. The butler, who was standing in the shadows, came into the light with a sword locked in its scabbard.

Caelestis picked it up from his hand and sprinted ahead to the door. When the door opened, he was left shocked. "Crown Prince?!" He said.

Alastor was standing in front of the open door, carrying Eleanore in his arms. He smiled softly on Caelestis’ appearance.

"Elle!" Stella shouted from behind. She rushed to her friend; her nightgown flew in the air as she quickly crossed Caelestis and stepped outside in the cold.

She looked at Alastor and asked, "What’s wrong with her? Is she hurt?" She asked, her eyes filled with compassion and worry.

"No, my lady. She is just drunk." He replied with a mocking smile.

Stella exhaled at that. ’Thank god! She is not hurt.’ She thought. "But why is she drunk?"

"Honestly, my lady. My hands is hurting. How about we talk inside." Alastor suggested.

"Sure." Stella gestured to Caelestis to move aside. He obeyed and moved, still shocked by the situation that had occurred in front of him.

Alator walked in and followed Marina upstairs, towards Eleanore’s room. Stella followed him and so did Cealestis.

Once inside the room, he gently placed her on the bed and helped her adjust comfortably there, then covered her under her warm bedsheet. When he turned around again, Stella shot her question from before at him again.

"Why is she drunk?" She asked in a stern voice.

"Well, I invited her to the royal knights drinking party, when I found her sitting alone at the square. Initially, she was going to drink only a small glass of alcohol. When I left her just for a few seconds, she was already on her second jug." He replied.

"How could you let a lady drink that much alcohol?" Cealestis questioned Alastor’s sense of responsibility.

"Ah! That was my fault. But she enjoyed herself." He said.

"Enjoyed?" Caelestis yelled. "She looks wasted and drunk."

"Why does that matter, grand duke? She enjoyed herself though." Alastor argued, somewhat enjoying this conversation.

"Crown Prince!" Caelestis yelled. "Lady Eleanore is my responsibility. Do you have any idea how worried we were?"

"Really? Grand Duke, you were worried?" Alastor asked in a serious tone now, remembering the incident that took place on his birthday.

"Yes!" Caelestis shouted again.

"Oh God! Shut Up!" Eleanore woke up from all the shouting around her. She sat up and extended her hand out. "Marina!"

Marina held her mistress hand and sat in the little place one bed that her mistress had left. "Yes, mistress?"

"Who the hell is barking in my room? Throw them out." Eleanore ordered. Her eyes were still closed.

"Yes, mistress." Marina accepted the order.

Eleanore fell back on her back, continuing her sweet sleep.

Marina got up and said, "My lords and Baroness. If you all could please leave my master alone and let her rest."

"Maid!" Caelestis yelled again.

"Goodness!" Eleanore sighed, covering her ears by a pillow beside her. "Make them leave Marina."

"Grand duke, please leave." Marina requested again.

"Maid, do you have any idea who you are talking to?" Caelestis glared at her, just like how he glared at her a week back, on the day she was punished by her master.

"Yes, grand duke. Apologies but I can’t obey your order over my mistress’, just to upset her again."

"Grand Duke. Eleanore needs rest." Stella said, helping him out of the room. Alastor also followed them out.

"Then I shall take my leave, Grand duke, Baroness." Saying this, Alastor left for his palace.

Next morning Eleanore woke up with a severe headache. She couldn’t remember much about last night, but knew that she was having a hangover from all the drinking she did yesterday.

Eleanore pressed her fingers against her temples as she got off her bed. Marina opened the curtains to let some light enter the room.

"Bring me some tea." She ordered, as she walked to her usual seat with much difficulty.

Marina started to open the door, but before she could open it, it swung open in front of her. This stunned both Marina and Eleanore.

"What have you done!" Caelestis yelled as he dashed into the room and grabbed Eleanore’s hand.

"What are you talking about?" Eleanore was confused and her head was still spinning from a hangover. On top of all that, this man here is shouting at her early in the morning.

"You insulted Stella at the tea party?" He asked. Although it sounded like a question, deep inside he already believed that it was all Eleanore’s doing.

"What? I wasn’t the one who insulted her."

"Lady Eleanore. I know you well. Verbena Mallory is a friend of yours, isn’t she?"

"No. She is Lady Adena Velrose’s friend." Eleanore was puzzled and couldn’t understand where Caelestis got to know about that incident.

"If she were Adena’s friend, why would she mention your name instead." Caelestis pointed his index finger at Eleanore, warning her. "Don’t you dare hurt Stella by playing such petty tricks."

"Caelestis!" Eleanore yelled back at him. "I am trying to help you here and yet you keep criticizing me."

"Yes, because all your plans uptill now have flopped." Saying this he started out of the room.

"It’s not my fault if your feelings for her are not genuine."

Caelestis ignored her words and left the room.
