Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 137 - 136: The First Dance After The Marriage
Instinctively, he held her shoulder and moved her head up to him. "Why are you crying? What did he say?" He asked, somehow worried for her when this situation itself was also created by him as well.
"I—" She stammered. "I didn’t have the courage to face him." She speaks. "I cannot bear to see that disgusting looks on his face."
His heart melts when he sees her in that situation. Completely broken, far worse than he ever was. Just when he was about to wrap his arms around her, Stella appeared in front of them.
"Eleanore?" She called her.
Eleanore looked away and quickly whipped away her tears when she heard her. She took two deep breaths, before turning to Stella and pushing down Caelestis’ hands from her shoulders.
She wore a huge smile, that hid all her pain and despair. It stretched loudly from one edge of her face to the other.
Stella threw her arms around Eleanore and gave her a warm hug. "It’s good to have you here." She speaks.
"Yes, it’s good to see you." She hugged back, as she held back her tears but the lump in her heart continued rising.
Everyone in the ball’s eyes turned to them and those who hadn’t noticed the presence of the grand duke and the new grand duchess, also knew now.
When Eleanore opened her eyes to release the hug, Hael appeared in front of her. She moved a little back, nervous and hesitant. She pressed her lips to suck in all the emotions she was feeling just a while ago but then came rushing up when he heard his voice.
"I didn’t invite you two." Those were his first words on seeing his sister after two whole days.
If the scenario had been different. If he hadn’t been so angry with him. He would have smiled elegantly and rushed to her to pull her into a hug and swirl around in the circle at the same time in excitement and utter joy.
But that didn’t happen. She didn’t receive a smile or a hug or a swirl while they hugged. What she received was his cold demeanor and icy words.
"Right. But we did receive an invitation." Caelestis pulled out the invitation letter from his side pocket.
"I didn’t send them." He showed no emotion on his face as he uttered those hateful words.
Eleanore somewhat knew that the invitation was sent by Stella, when her personal maid Celine helped her in. However, she had not expected her brother to say those words wearing a null expression as if he didn’t care at all.
In a split second their gaze met, his were cold before they looked away from hers and she couldn’t bare anymore. She just couldn’t look at him anymore and her eyes fell. For the first time in her entire life, her head fell to the ground in shame in public.
"The invitation was sent by me." Stella says. "I wanted my best friend to be here to celebrate this new beginning of my life. "Am I not allowed to?"
Hael flinched on hearing that. His coldness disappeared. "Ah! no . Of course, not. You can do whatever you want, my love."
Eleanore’s gaze shot up when she heard that sweet, tender voice for it. The only difference was that it was not directed to her. It was directed to Stella, his wife and now she was no one to him. She snatched the wine glass from Caelestis’ hand and gobbled it up.
And he simply watched her emptying it like she was dying from thirst.
The sound of piano playing a romantic song, filled the tense air with the blossoms of love. The mood in the hall shifted and everyone’s attention was back on the people it should be in. With that, Eleanore could finally breathe.
She picked up another glass from the waiter moving with at least six wine glasses. Before he could leave, she took two more and even gulped those up. However, nothing worked.
No matter how much wine she drank the lump wouldn’t go down and her thirst wouldn’t deplete. Before she could take another glass. Caelestis held her hand and pushed it down as he tightened his grip on her wrist.
"Stop it! You are not very good with alcohol." He remembers the day Alastor brought her completely drunk and unaware of herself.
"I am thirsty!" She shot back, but he ignored him and fixed his eyes on Stella.
Stella was smiling the whole time he entered the ball. Not even once that smile seemed to have vanished from her face. She looked happy, immensely happy. As if she had attained everything she ever wished for and had no jealousy hidden between those emotions.
Caelestis had expected to see something on her face, in her eyes or her demeanor but there was nothing he could pinpoint. She had truly moved on and needed nothing more.
Just as he dwelled in those thoughts, the song ended and now it was time for others to dance. Stella whispered something to Hael and then walked back to Caelestis and Eleanore’s way.
Instead of approaching Eleanore, she approached Caelestis. "Grand duke, would you give me the privilege of your first dance tonight?"
The crowd gasped on hearing that., Just minutes ago she had declared Eleanore her best friend and was now trying to steal the first dance of her friend’s new husband.
Ethically, Caelestis should have this first dance with his new wife, in every event they attend henceforth. However, this was their first event after the ball. He should thus absolutely dance only with her and no one else.
While Caelestis was aware of this fact, he didn’t really care about it at all. The woman, who he had thought had given up on him completely and felt nothing for him at all. Was now standing in front of him, asking for his first dance and he couldn’t help but accept it.
"Yes." He says, as he places his hand on his palm and consumes her beautiful smile. While letting go of Eleanore’s as he moved forward with Stella.
