Chapter 126: Chapter 125: The Threat And Obeyance

While the Sinclair mansion was asleep, in the shadows of the night Caelestis entered the mansion. His mind was set; his plan was simple. Stop the upcoming marriage by releasing the bomb of his own marriage.

He loomed over Eleanore, whose face had turned still from fear. Her body shivered as he set his eyes on her.

"You cannot run. I will make you pay for what you did." His husky voice rang painfully in her ears. "That stupid bet took everything from Eleanore. Now you must pay for it by marrying me."

"Why—" Her voice cracked as she looked for answers. "Why do you want to marry me, when you still love Stella?" She asks.

Caelestis mouth shuts up for a while. As she waits for the answer she thinks of a way to escape. She could scream and wake the mansion but would that work. He would block her scream midway. She was also short of strength in front of this man.

"You shall marry me, and their marriage will stop. That’s what I want." He answers.

"What makes you think I will listen to you? Don’t you know I hate you?" Eleanore comes closer to his face, her weight falling on her arms, giving her all the support she needed. "I would never marry your grand duke, never."

Caelestis clenches his jaw on that. "You will." He snarled.

His hand caught her nape and pulled her face closer. Eleanore almost screamed from the sudden force and his digging nails.

"If you don’t marry me tonight, Eleanore, I will kill him." His words didn’t sit quite right in her mind.

Her eyebrow arched in confusion. "What?"

"I will kill Hael and force Stella to marry me in front of his eyes. While you, Eleanore, will be able to do nothing." His chilling voice and his heinous threat scared her to the core.

She wanted to believe he would not do that. She wants to believe in that fragile rope of friendship the two of them still had in their hands and she wanted to believe in the hint of humanity she had seen in him in past few days.

However, she couldn’t. The immeasurable weight his words held, wouldn’t let her believe in any of that. Tears form in the back of her eyes as she feels helpless.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Her words sound feeble, her resolve broken.

"Because you started it." He remained unbothered when those tears locked in her eyes started rolling down on hearing those harsh words.

Caelestis didn’t care about her at all. He only wanted what he came for here and he shall have it at any cost. If Eleanore still refuses, he will truly go ahead and prove his words right. He had thought about this hard for the whole week.

If he can’t have Stella, he won’t let anyone have her.

That was his first thought when the news arrived. But he constraints himself. He was stopped by that feeble rope of friendship holding him from diving deep into the depths of hell. This was his only gift to that friendship and if it doesn’t work, the rope would break.

"So, it was all a lie, right?" She hissed, as she cried. A clot forming in her throat, she hated this situation, this forcefulness and this helplessness. She hated it that even if she tried she could never fight it.

’Why does it always happen to me?’

"Yes, from the very start. Everything was a lie, a facade I created to lure you in." He answers, stroking away a few hair strands stuck on her face. "If you had not interfered and brought forward the date of marriage. You would have married me willingly."

Eleanore grits her teeth in anger, as she slaps away his hand that was playing with her hair. "You are too confident."

"Ha! I have always been confident." His smile made her want to hit him and she did.

Her hands were no longer in her control. The weak blows that landed on his chest had done him no harm. Instead, he lets go of her name and she falls back on the soft bed.

She covers her eyes with one of her arms, as she continues crying. While the nails of her other hand, dug into the bead sheet, crumbling it with all force to vent her anger but that didn’t help.

"I hate you so much." She whispers, before jolting and shouting at him. "I hate you Caelestis Lancaster and I always will."

"Doesn’t matter." He looks away. "Nothing matters, until you marry me tonight." He grabs her wrist, but she pulls it out of his grasp.

"No!" Her resolve for not this was just too strong. She still wanted to deny all the facts, the seriousness in his eyes that turned to fury on hearing that. His hand nearing his sword that was fixed in its scabbard for far too long and the murderous aura surrounding him.

Eleanore wanted to deny it all. But she couldn’t. Of course, from inside she had accepted her defeat but for some reason her outsides were hesitating.

"Fine. It’s your choice." He pulls out his sword and turns to the door.

His mere few steps, sends chills through her veins. The realisation hits. She is at the disadvantage, and she must obey this monstrous man. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Eleanore falls on her knees and holds tightly on one of his legs. Shocked by the sudden touch, he looks down at weeping Eleanore.

"I’m sorry. Please don’t kill my brother. He is my only family." She cries.

Caelestis kneels down, his thumb tracing her jawline as he speaks. "You must do something in return. Only then I can spare your brother. Will you, do it?"

His finger stabs below her chin, bringing her to face him. Eleanore shuts her eyes, her face felt wet from the tears that left her bowling eyes. She was vulnerable. "I will."

Caelestis smiles, her words spread joy in him, and a laugh escapes his throat. He thought this would be harder but somehow it was too easy. Too easy for his own good.
