Chapter 115: Chapter 114: His Devious Plan

The mission Eleanore had received before Flora arrived was still hanging in front of her. She was too exhausted and annoyed at the same time. When she returned to the room, the system window was still flying over her head.

Devastated, she pressed no and as if the system had crashed, it glitched for a few seconds before appearing in front of her just as it was before.

|| Chapter 4: Marriage Of Happiness (Revised)

Caelestis could never digest the fact that his love was taken away by none other than his best friend in the original. He who had left his crown in search of his wife of a few months, was heartbroken to find out that she was now with Hael Sinclair. His once best friend and now his formidable enemy.

He couldn’t accept the fact that she no longer needed it, so she wouldn’t look at him. Thus instead of waiting for the right time, he chose to attack the entire rebel army himself. But how can a single person kill an army of thousands? It was a suiside mission from the beginning. Thus, he meets his end. An end he chose and a death full of regrets.

This time, his hand changed because (you) Eleanore Sinclair is still alive. But the man who has loved someone so much that he was ready to die when she refused to be with him, could do anything this time as well.

Quest 1: Successful Marriage Of Baroness Stella

Task 1: Marry Caelestis Lancaster

Do you accept the task?

Yes/No||

No matter how many times she clicked on No the notification didn’t change. As if urging her the accept the task like any other and move on.

However, this is not a joke. This is about her life and her marriage. Even if this might not be the real world, what’s the guarantee that she could return to her world?

"What if I get stuck here forever, with this man?" She wondered. "What if I am dead in that world? What will I do then?" She just couldn’t help but have this thought then forget about it all in a minute.

There are other ways to have Hael marry Stella. If she completes the quest before the task, then she might not even have to follow the task at all. That’s right, she won’t have to marry Caelestis like that.

Eleanore shook away all her strange thoughts and decided to focus on having the male lead and female lead marry each other.

Marina knocked on the door of her mistress. Eleanore had clearly ordered her to not come to her door at all, until she herself called her. She hesitates as she waits for her permission to open the door.

"Yes!" She hears and opens the door.

"My lady." Marina stands at the doorstep. "The grand duke is here." She informs me.

Eleanore stares at Marina for a while deep in thought, then sighs. "Have him sit in the living room." She orders.

Marina was confused on hearing that. "Are you sure, my lady?"

"Yes, Marina. I’ll be there in a minute." She turns to the window and decides to figure out the reason behind this absurd task.

When Eleanore enters the living room on the same floor as her room, she finds Caelestis sitting there looking at the orange sky that had given the white room a tint of orange as well. The rays shone on his pale skin and in his black hair got a highlight of brown.

His gaze turned to her and slowly a smile broke on his face. Eleanore was mesmerized by the scene; she went blank and still couldn’t believe that a man this beautiful is so evil that the mere thought of marrying him felt disgusting.

She shook her head, warding away that dangerous thought. Her feet walked to the sofa opposite his. She then sat down and waited for him to start but he didn’t say anything.

It looked like they were in some staring competition and none of them were ready to speak first. Her gaze didn’t move from him and neither did his. They were stuck in that moment with thoughts too dangerous for any of them to reveal.

Caelestis had come there in hopes of that same refusal. He was shocked when the butler welcomed him in and guided him to the room. He sat there and thought maybe this is her new tactic. She might have him sit in here till night and then perhaps send him off. But to his surprise she appeared.

"Do you remember the bet?" He finally opened his mouth.

"What bet?" Her eyebrow arched in confusion.

"If you can prove that Stella loves you. I will get out of your way." He starts reciting her words from when she had set a bet with him to get her out of confinement. "When you are in love. You want the whole world to know that you are in love. I will help you. Stella will confess and marry you but if she doesn’t you will leave her alone. Until my brother comes back, prove that Stella loves you. I will help you as well. But. If she doesn’t then let her go like I let you go."

He raises his eyes to hers. "That was your bet."

Eleanore gulped. "It was and you were defeated. I won. She didn’t confess."

Caelestis laughs at this. He leans back and sadly looks at the sun that was no longer in the sky. "Do you also remember the latter part of that bet?"

"Which one?" She asked, feeling nervous when his expression changed.

"You asked me to get married to someone and get out of Stella’s way completely."

"That was a bluff. I said nonsense. You do not need to marry anyone. Just let her be happy. That’s all." Eleanore tries to just erase her embarrassing moment with laugh.

"No." Her face jolted back to him. "The bet is not complete without that last clause." He adds.

"Grand duke. There is no need." He gets out of his seat and walks up to Eleanore. His hand grabs the edge of the sofa behind her, and his waist bends a little. Enough for his head to get as close to her as possible.

"Lady Eleanore, how about we get married?" He asks, with a smile.

Eleanore’s eyes go blank on hearing that. She couldn’t believe that Caelestis, who hates her to the core, is now standing in front of her, suddenly proposing to her for marriage, out of nowhere.

"Is this a joke?" She glares into his eyes.

"No."

"You hate me."

"Not anymore."

Eleanore looks away for a second and then returns to his gaze. "How can I marry the man who loves my best friend, madly."

"That’s why, I must marry." He argues.

"What kind of stupid logic is that!" She stared into his eyes in confusion and rejection.

Caelestis smiled and moved back. He stepped a little far and looked at her. "Do you not love me?" He was too confident in that question. Thinking the answer would be affirmative.

Eleanore didn’t move and sat in her place as she answered in a stern voice. "No. I hate you."

He smirks as he falls back in his place. "I can’t believe I made you fall out of love." He says, his eyes fixed on the table with the beautiful, sparkling white vase, having various flowers decoratively set in it.

"You should leave now." Eleanore suggested.

"I am sorry for what happened. Even if Stella doesn’t love me, she would still be an important woman in my life. That’s why without seeing your condition and assuming you would be fine. I didn’t send the doctor right away."

"You thought I ran away." She brought up the real reason behind her anger and her hatred towards him. "I know, I am good at it. But that was all in the past. Did my changed behaviour does not make you believe in me?"

"I was wrong." His face dropped. "I should have believed in you, no matter what others said." He looks back up to her. "I want to remain friends with you."

"Impossible." She denies his friendship without giving it a single thought.

"Marry me, as a friend of Eleanore. Just to help me get over her. I want to win back my best friend."

"If I marry you. You will lose him forever." Eleanore corrects him.

Caelestis turns quiet.

"You should leave now, before my brother gets back because that would lead into a new fight." She got up. "That wouldn’t be good if you want to mend your friendship with him."

Without looking back again, she leaves the room and Caelestis. He obeyed. His plan had failed and now he could only return to his mansion, in disappointment.

Wouldn’t marrying Eleanore make Stella jealous? He had thought. Eleanore would marry him if he proposed to her, but she refused.

Caelestis took a glance at the Sinclair mansion before climbing in his carriage. "You can’t escape me, Eleanore. You took Stella and Hael away from me. Now, I will use you to win them back."

He climbs in his carriages and sets out of the Mansion.
