Chapter 100: Chapter 99: The Blame That Breaks Her

"It was because of you that my sister couldn’t leave her bed for almost a month. I ask you— why on earth were you even there? If you weren’t there, Caelestis might not have ignored her and would have kept her safe." He yells.

Stella couldn’t believe her ears. How could he say that? She didn’t expect this from Hael. He is a kind man, so why is he using such poisonous words?

His words felt like the poison she had drank days ago. As if the remnants of that thing had remained in her, she could feel it rising up in her veins again. The pain, the helplessness it brought together had started to plague over her. It’s burning sensation, found a place in her body again.

"If only you weren’t there!" His words rang in her ears.

Blood boiled in her, all that feeling of love, she had been feeling for him, vanished on hearing those words. How is this here fault? How can he blame her for everything that happened? She didn’t have Eleanore get kidnapped now, did she?

"It’s all your fault." He says, trying to grab his spectacles back and take his seat. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

But before he could hold onto his glasses, Stella slammed her hands on that poor table, as well. The impact was so hard that many things on that table fell off of it. One of which was his glasses. They shattered into pieces, when they collided with the harsh marble ground.

"How is that my fault? I didn’t want to be there, I wasn’t asked to be there." She shouts out. "You have no idea what I went through in those past three months."

"And I don’t care." He gets angry on seeing his only piece of glasses shattered. "I don’t care what you went through. It is none of my business. All I care about is Eleanore. That’s it."

"Good." She glares, as she steps back. "Great." She turned after shooting a glare his way, then left the room.

Stella got out of her bed and rushed to pull out her small briefcase from the corner, between the closet and the wall. She threw it on her bed, unzipped it and started pulling out her clothes from the closet, then dumping them in that bag.

Eleanore was too stunned to react when she got to Stella’s door. She had no idea what had happened in those closed doors of her brother’s study. Whatever it was, it had broken Stella. She was bawling as she tried to concentrate on packing her bag, as if trying to leave. Emotions of various kinds swirling in her stomach.

"Stel!" She called out and Stella turned her gaze to Eleanore for a split second before getting back to her packing. "Stel! Why are you crying?" She asked, as she took a few steps forward. "Did my brother ask you to leave or something?"

Stella didn’t answer her question and continued with what she was doing. Elenore walked closer to her and sat on her bed, watching her toss her belongings in it.

"Even if he said that, you don’t need to listen to him. This is my home too and I want you to stay here." Eleanore maintains her composure as she says that.

"He didn’t ask me to leave." Stella walks to her cabinet and pulls out a wooden box that contains her most prized possession.

"Then, why are you packing your bag and more than that, why are you crying?" She asks, as she sees her placing the box carefully in the bag.

"Nothing happened." She tries to avoid the question.

"Well, something happened, I can’t see it."

"I said, nothing happened." She shouts at her, as she zips up her briefcase and starts dragging a luggage bag twice her size out of the room.

Eleanore was shocked when she heard that loud voice of Stella for the first time. She froze in that bed, until she saw Stella disappear in the corridor.

"Stella!" She called her again, as they descended the stairs to catch up with her. "If you don’t tell me what happened, how will I be able to help you?"

"I do not need your help. So, stop following me, you’ll get hurt." The long staircase, of the Sinclair mansion, somehow ends rather quickly this time.

"Stella, if you want to leave, that’s fine. After All, you are a business woman. You have a boutique to take care of." Eleanore feels a stroke of pain she hadn’t felt for a few days. So she stopped midway on that tremendous, long staircase. She always hated them, one wrong step and a person could lose their life.

The fact that she had stumbled down a few stairs here, surprised her. How did she not break or something that time?

" —But if you are leaving because of something my brother said, then I must know it. You are my friend, I asked you to stay here. Thus, I cannot accept you leaving because of a stupid thing he said. You are my responsibility."

"He didn’t say anything stupid. He told the truth." Stella turned around to face Eleanore. "He said he hates me and it hurts. It hurts to listen to something like that from the man you like." She clenches her blouse, as she feels her heart breaking.

Eleanore couldn’t say anymore. She stood there, frozen, disappointed in her brother. For she knew how that felt. To be hated by the man, one loves. She has been there and she hates the fact that Stella is in her place now. That pain, that heart break, that agony. She doesn’t want any of that to even touch her friend.

Stella started out of the main entrance, when she heard no more arguments coming from Eleanore’s side. Soon she disappeared in the depths of fog that had clouded in her courtyard and until Eleanore could no longer see her.
