Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 483: Let me go...
Qie Xieling thought that he had entered the wrong carriage. He thought he had entered the wrong carriage so he peeked his head out and lo and behold, it was the Lee family’s carriage.
Qie Xieling wasn’t at all confused. He knew she would be his replacement but she didn’t feel like fighting such a sickly-looking person. She looked so sad and he undoubtedly felt some sympathy for her.
Zi Mixen saw the look of pity in his eyes and she was quite infuriated. She concluded that he was looking down on her like she wasn’t worth his time.
Qie Xieling approached her cautiously. Her coughing fits echoed in the confined space, and the sight of her wiping blood from her lips sent a shiver down his spine. She seemed innocent and vulnerable, but her words, when they came, were laced with malice.
"After he divorced you why are you still looking for him?" she sneered, her voice dripping with bitterness. "Still clinging to the hope of winning his heart, are you?... How pathetic."
Qie Xieling, "..."
He couldn’t believe she would be this mean when he had helped save her. Her tongue was like that of a viper, venomous and unpleasant.
He loved Luo Muchen but he couldn’t bring himself to fight with an invalid. He decided to take a step back and wait for Luo Muchen outside.
Zi Mixen saw the look of pity in his eyes grow in intensity. This angered her even more. She pulled the coat closer and said, "He has already moved on... you are of no use to him even as a concubine. We will be married soon."
Qie Xieling wanted to tell her that her so-called future husband had kissed him in the hot spring earlier but he was afraid that would send her over the edge. She expected him to fire back or say something mean that she could pretend like his words had worsened her condition but to her surprise, he turned around after uttering a soft, "Okay."
Zi Mixen, "..."
She couldn’t let him go like this thus she said, "Just go back to the brothel. You are undeserving of him... Go back to opening your legs for paying clients."
Qie Xieling licked his lower lip before walking out. Surprisingly, he wasn’t mad at all. He knew these women were just venting their frustration to a love rival so he didn’t take it to heart. As long as she didn’t hit him like Bi Yu. When he stepped out he was suddenly grabbed and his mouth covered. When he looked up he saw it was Luo Muchen so he calmed down considerably and let him drag him away.
Luo Muchen had been coming back from venting out his anger when he saw Qie Xieling sneak into his carriage. Thinking he had changed his mind and was going to go with him, he rushed over only to hear two voices coming from the carriage. One was Qie Xieling and the other was Zi Mixen who was in his carriage for some reason.
When he heard her talk like that to Qie Xieling he thought his wife would show a temper and declare his territory but he just said, "Okay," and walked out.
He didn’t know what he was feeling right now. Everyone else seemed to be fighting to be with him but Qie Xieling just gave up just like that. It was incredibly infuriating for some reason. The forest stood dark and ominous, its trees casting long shadows in the moonlight.
Qie Xieling stumbled as Luo Muchen dragged him deeper into the bushes, a mixture of anger and confusion etched across his face. It was the second time that night that Qie Xieling found himself pressed against a sturdy tree trunk, the rough bark digging into his back. Luo Muchen’s eyes burned with a volatile mix of anger and hurt, his grip on Qie Xieling’s arm tightening.
"Why are you here?" Luo Muchen’s voice was laced with a raw intensity, his words dripping with resentment that stemmed from who knows where.
Qie Xieling sneered, a flicker of defiance dancing in his eyes. "Why are you so angry, huh? Is it because I found out your secret?... An unmarried maiden with a married man, who wants several concubines, alone tonight. Even a blind bat can see what is going on here... just give me what I want and I can go," he said but there was hurt in his eyes. He wasn’t giving up, he was just feeling defeated. If he was faced with this much competition in the real world he might end up this dejected.
"Which is?" asked Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling answered quickly.
"A divorce, of course," he retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. The words hung in the air, a bitter reminder of the betrayal and deceit that brought them together in the first place.
Luo Muchen’s face contorted with a mixture of anguish and anger. He longed to lash out, to unleash the pent-up emotions that sprung up all over again. But something held him back, an inner struggle to maintain control. With great effort, he swallowed his rage, his jaw clenching as he fought to keep his composure.
"So that you can be with the one surnamed Bi or...?" his trembling voice with suppressed emotion paused before he continued, "Go back to the brothel."
Qie Xieling glared at him before saying, "So you can marry a wife more useful to you and you can live happily ever after." Luo Muchen had expected him to be angered by his words, but the pain etched on his face caught him off guard. The realisation of the hurt he had caused settled heavily upon him, and for a fleeting moment, he regretted his flippant remark.
"I...," Luo Muchen stuttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn’t mean it like that... I can’t stand it... I don’t want you to leave me."
Qie Xieling, "..."
This was an expected yet unexpected turn of events. "You want me to stay and become a concubine? Is that it? I might be from a brothel but I hate sharing. I won’t share my man so if you aren’t prepared to do that you let me go."
