Chapter 423: Men forget their friends when they are getting laid

He quickly grabbed it and hid behind a pillar but he didn’t escape unscathed. He had a sharp cut on his cheek with blood dripping down. He hissed in pain but didn’t focus on that.

Fingers trembling, he accessed the control panel of the drone, his eyes scanning the intricate lines of code. Time seemed to slow down as he tapped into his knowledge of advanced programming this character possessed. While he was trying to figure it out Bi Yu suddenly bumped into him after she ran towards him.

"What are you doing? Whatever you are doing won’t work. These drones are impenetrable," she said but Qie Xieling ignored her. He recalled the algorithm, its complex instructions etched into his memory.

His focus sharpened disregarding their surroundings. He connected his communicator to the drone and typed furiously, his hands a blur on the keyboard. He executed the commands, invoking the dormant power of the algorithm. The control panel flickered to life, its display illuminating his face with an ethereal glow.

As if sensing the imminent threat, the drones intensified their assault. Their lasers converged on them behind the pillar, the heat of their beams searing the air. The ground shook beneath his feet, debris exploding around them.

With each keystroke, he manipulated the drones’ encrypted frequency channels, weaving his way through the intricate defences. His mind raced, calculating probabilities, anticipating countermeasures. The algorithm, a digital weapon of last resort, danced at his fingertips.

Finally, a breakthrough. His eyes widened as the drones faltered. Their coordinated attacks ceased, replaced by erratic behaviour. They spun out of control, colliding with each other in a symphony of metallic chaos. The once formidable swarm was now a disarrayed mess.

As the last drone sputtered and crashed to the ground, he let out a sigh. He turned to Bi Yu who was looking at him with shock in her eyes and asked, "Are you going to tell me where he is or you don’t know?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Bi Yu looked at the crushed drones on the ground with sparks flying in the air before saying, "I... how did you?"

Qie Xieling sighed before getting up. He had already wasted enough time with her and knew he had to find Luo Muchen himself.

He walked away leaving a flabbergasted Bi Yu. He ventured deeper into the sprawling palace, his footsteps echoing through the dimly lit corridors. The air was heavy with tension his heart racing like a bullet train. His eyes darted from shadow to shadow, wary of any potential threat that lurked in the darkness.

With deftness born of desperation to save his man, he managed to evade a few soldiers and the King’s formidable guards who were running towards the chaos outside. The palace seemed almost deserted, save for the occasional distant sound of hushed voices or the flickering glow of torches.

While he was hiding in a dark corner a figure emerged from the shadows behind him. His instincts kicked in, and he swiftly drew his weapon, ready to defend himself. Yet, when he turned to face the person, he saw it was Bi Yu.

Lowering his weapon, he exhaled a sigh of relief. "Seriously," he said, his voice laced with a mix of anger and annoyance. "What are you doing here?"

Bi Yu’s eyes met his, her expression serious and resolute. "I will help you find him," she replied, her voice firm. "I may not trust you completely, but if there’s even a chance that Prince Luo is in danger, I won’t stand idly by. However, if you are lying, I won’t hesitate to end your life right here."

Qie Xieling studied her for a moment, weighing his options. He knew he couldn’t afford to turn away any help, especially from someone who knew the palace in and out. The tension between them lingered but they had no choice but to set aside their differences.

"Follow me," she said as she took the lead guiding him through the labyrinthine pathways of the palace.

They soon reached the palace security room and Bi Yu scanned her biometrics. The guard stationed there jumped in surprise, his hand behind him hovering over the SOS button as his voice trembled, "Ge-General Bi?"

Bi Yu’s stern expression softened as she recognised the guard. "At ease, soldier," she said, her voice laced with reassurance. "It’s good to see you’re still holding your post."

Before the guard could respond, Qie Xieling entered the room with swift yet silent steps. The guard’s eyes widened, his finger lingering near the emergency button, his intentions unclear. Sensing the tension she moved towards the guard, ready to ease his nervousness.

However, Qie Xieling’s actions were quicker than anyone anticipated. In one swift motion, he raised his weapon and fired. Startled, General Bi shouted, "What are you doing?!"

Qie Xieling’s voice remained calm amidst the chaos. "I just tased him," he explained, his tone composed. "He was trying to press the emergency button. I don’t kill people so casually."

A mixture of shock and relief washed over her face as she rushed to the guard’s side. She examined him closely, her trained eyes searching for signs of life. With each passing second, her anxiety grew until she finally spotted the subtle rise and fall of his chest. He was alive.

Letting out a breath she said, "I am in charge here. You don’t get to act without my consent."

Qie Xieling didn’t have time to play ball-bursting games with her. He started looking around and Bi Yu glared at him while saying, "Don’t touch anything." She started searching for any sign or clue as to where the prince was but after going through all the feed she still couldn’t find him.

The longer she searched the more she grew frustrated. She was growing more and more flustered. Qie Xieling couldn’t wait any longer. He called Jolie in his mind and asked for help.

’Jolie,’ he said and Jolie who was painting Luo Shih’s nails answered with annoyance.

’What now? I am busy,’ she said and Qie Xieling retorted,

’With what? Hurry up and help me look for Luo Muchen.’

Jolie rolled her eyes before saying, ’Fine but I am still mad at you. It’s true what they say. Men forget their friends when they are getting laid.’

Qie Xieling, "..."
