Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 327: Planning to Marry Off the Granddaughter to Xia Weiguo
Qin Kaize pushed open the fence and immediately saw several plump rabbits munching on the greens in the vegetable garden. He walked over and grabbed two of the larger ones by their ears. The rabbits kicked their legs and quickly swallowed the remaining leaves.
Qin Kaize pulled out two pieces of twine and tightly bound their feet. He then picked up the four smaller rabbits that were still voraciously eating, seemingly oblivious to the danger. After binding them, he gave their round bellies a poke.
"Such greedy little things, you deserve to be caught," he muttered. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Turning around, he saw Niu Fanghua standing by the wall, eyeing him with a look of longing in her aged eyes.
"Qin..." she said with a wide, ingratiating smile.
Qin Kaize, however, ignored her and walked past with a stern expression, heading inside with the six rabbits.
Niu Fanghua’s smile immediately froze, a mix of frustration and urgency on her face. "How unlucky! I don’t know why those rabbits are so stupid, running straight into their house," she grumbled to herself.
Her craving for the delicious rabbits was undeniable, so she hurried back into the house without wasting any time.
"Xuewei! Go get some money and buy one of those rabbits from Qin’s house!" Niu Fanghua ordered urgently.
Fang Xuewei, who was changing clothes in the house, felt a sinking feeling upon hearing her mother-in-law’s voice.
"Mom, what’s going on?" she asked, pushing open the door with a hint of impatience.
Since her mother-in-law couldn’t stir up trouble outside, she had been causing endless trouble at home. Fang Xuewei wondered when it would ever end.
"Qin caught six rabbits. Hurry and buy one from his house," Niu Fanghua insisted.
"I’m not going!" Fang Xuewei replied without hesitation, feeling increasingly irritated. Seeing Niu Fanghua about to get angry, she explained, "Last time we needed some basic supplies, you had us buy a pound of lamb, which cost two and a half yuan. Now, with our two granddaughters about to meet their suitors this month, I need to buy them clothes, which will cost thirty or forty yuan. We don’t have any money left!"
She had originally wanted Commander Qin’s wife to make a couple of nice, affordable outfits, but it seemed that the Aunts had fallen out with Miss Su. As a result, she couldn’t get Miss Su to help with the dresses.
"These two girls are indeed a financial burden. Even if they dress up, there’s no guarantee someone will be interested," Niu Fanghua muttered under her breath.
"Mom!" Fang Xuewei snapped in a low voice.
Niu Fanghua flinched, afraid her daughter-in-law might go complain to her son. Her son was notoriously soft-hearted and spoiled the girls, always ready to stand up for them.
Fang Xuewei didn’t want to waste any more time arguing. With a stern face, she warned, "Mom, don’t bother Commander Qin and his wife this afternoon. You should be aware of how to speak appropriately. They aren’t someone you can push around. Look at Wang Futong, and remember what Old Mi said yesterday about Xue Qianhao’s upcoming fate. Don’t be so petty over a meal. It’s not worth it."
Fang Xuewei’s words made Niu Fanghua obediently retreat. "Fine, stop being so dramatic," she huffed angrily.
Once Fang Xuewei left, Niu Fanghua couldn’t help but return to the garden to glance at the verdant vegetable patch again. She was filled with regret.
If only she had come out earlier, she might have caught those rabbits before Qin Kaize did. But after all, this was Xia Weiguo’s home.
Niu Fanghua’s eyes flickered with a plan. Given Xia Weiguo’s generous treatment of his subordinates, she thought that if she could arrange for her granddaughters to marry him, it would be beneficial. Xia Weiguo was wealthy, and since their families lived next door, daily meat would be easy to come by.
Fang Xuewei was foolish to overlook such a good man in favor of young men whose future was uncertain. Niu Fanghua decided she needed to arrange a meal with Xia Weiguo’s family once he returned.

Qin Kaize placed the rabbits casually in the empty space of the living room. He gently opened the bedroom door and saw Su Yijia sprawled out on the bed, her mouth slightly open and a trail of drool visible in the light.
"You ungrateful little thing, sleeping so soundly while I’m away," Qin Kaize said, walking over and gently poking Su Yijia’s small, upturned nose.
Despite her high level of alertness, the familiar and comforting scent of Qin Kaize lulled her into deeper sleep, and she only gave a soft hum in response without opening her eyes.
"Mmm..." Su Yijia turned her face into Qin Kaize’s hand and nuzzled it.
"You’re finally back," she mumbled with a stuffy nose, sounding quite pitiful.
Qin Kaize picked her up and noticed the unusual texture and warmth of her red dress, which led him to investigate. It turned out to be another item from the system, which he had seen before. Unfazed by these "treasures," he held his wife tightly and used a pillow to support his back as he leaned against the headboard for a while.
Su Yijia, who had initially intended to ask something, fell back into sleep upon hearing his steady, heavy breathing. They both slept for a couple of hours and woke up just before four o’clock.
Nestled in Qin Kaize’s arms, Su Yijia rubbed her head against his chin and asked curiously, "Did Xue Qianhao really go looking for people?"
"Yeah, he’s getting desperate," Qin Kaize said, playing with her fingers.
Realizing he was too brief, he added, "Last night he visited two people. They shouldn’t know each other, but it’s unclear whether he approached them suddenly for help or if they were secretly collaborating. We’ll have to wait for the security team to investigate thoroughly."
Regardless, he had Xiang Yiyang keep a close watch on these individuals to ensure they didn’t exploit any loopholes to rescue Wang Futong.
"Only two people contacted? That means he’s not too urgent," Su Yijia commented, tapping lightly on Qin Kaize’s palm.
Qin Kaize chuckled, "Two is actually a lot. He’s only been here a short time, and there are already two in his contacts."
"Well, no matter the truth, it will be investigated thoroughly. Once this matter is settled, we need to hurry back to Hu City," Su Yijia said, now less concerned about Xue Qianhao. With Wang Futong dealt with, Xue Qianhao would have a hard time staying in the team, and once he was under scrutiny, he wouldn’t be able to cause much trouble.
As long as he didn’t bother them anymore, she wasn’t worried about the timing of his eventual downfall.
