Ruling the Historical Romance Novel as the Female Supporting Character-Chapter 326: The Sneaky Xue Qianhao
Su Yijia was more interested in moving on from the drama than in watching Wang Futong’s downfall. She felt that paying too much attention to such events would only diminish her good deeds.
"Forget about it. We need to listen to the news now," Su Yijia said, nudging Qin Kaize, who was still covering his nose and mouth.
Qin Kaize had no interest in Wang Futong’s theatrics either. With no one around, he simply picked up Su Yijia in one arm and carried her back to the living room.
Grandpa and Grandma Lin had gone to fetch two buckets of water to clean up the urine from the yard. He hurried over to help them with the buckets.
"Grandpa, Grandma, let me handle this," Qin Kaize said. Since he hadn’t been able to do anything when Wang Futong arrived, he was eager to make himself useful now.
Grandpa Lin stopped him with a hand. "You stay with Jiajia. It doesn’t matter if we listen to the news or not."
"Right, after we finish cleaning up, we’ll take a walk," Grandma Lin added.
The elderly couple enjoyed chatting and were wary of the neighbors causing trouble if they gathered together. They weren’t close to them and preferred not to deal with their nonsense.
"Finish the watermelon; otherwise, flies will come," Grandma Lin urged Qin Kaize.
Realizing he couldn’t persuade them otherwise, Qin Kaize opened the radio and sat back on the sofa, though his expression was still serious.
Su Yijia scooped a piece of watermelon and fed it to him. "Don’t worry. Grandpa and Grandma are just making sure we don’t have to deal with nosy neighbors later. Once Wang Futong’s trial is over, they won’t dare bother us again."
After about ten minutes, Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin had finally cleaned up the mess. They put everything back in place and asked, "Ze, do you think Wang Futong will cause trouble again?"
"Not likely. Her crimes are confirmed, and she’ll be serving time in prison. It’s a sure three years, but we’ll see if the sentence is more severe," Qin Kaize explained seriously.
Grandpa Lin and Grandma Lin were both taken aback. For someone as unreasonable as Wang Futong, it was better for her to be locked up sooner rather than later. Her nature would likely lead to even bigger problems in the future.

With Wang Futong out of the way, and the surprise attack causing Xue Qianhao to act in self-defense, the family was in high spirits. Su Yijia, even while working or reading in the space, couldn’t help but smile.
"Someone’s outside?" Su Yijia noticed a change in Qin Kaize’s demeanor as he detected something.
They both went outside, and Qin Kaize moved closer to the window. After a moment, the figure outside the fence began to move towards the dock.
"It should be Xue Qianhao," Qin Kaize said, his expression slightly tense.
"It’s already 9:30 PM. Are there still ferries leaving the island?" Su Yijia asked, surprised.
"The last one is at ten," Qin Kaize said, putting on his shirt and bending down to give Su Yijia a quick kiss on the lips. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Be good and rest at home. I’ll follow him to see what he’s up to. If there’s anything unusual, I might not come back tonight."
"You want to leave me alone at home? We haven’t even taken a bath together today, and now you want me to sleep alone. How cruel," Su Yijia pouted, resting her head against Qin Kaize’s abs.
The normally serious Qin Kaize was immediately stirred by her actions. Su Yijia playfully poked him, causing a deep intake of breath from him.
"Be good. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow." Qin Kaize took her mischievous hand and kissed it. Seeing that she didn’t lift her head, he continued to gently coax her. "I’m no longer in the team, so no one will leak such confidential matters to me. I need to see who Xue Qianhao is trying to contact."
Whether it was dealing with Wang Futong or preventing them from being schemed against, Qin Kaize needed to be sure.
"Be careful! A cornered dog will jump over the wall, and nothing is more important than your safety." Su Yijia looked up, her eyes filled with concern.
Even though she wanted to deal with the troublesome couple once and for all, Qin Kaize’s safety was her top priority.
After thinking for a moment, Su Yijia retrieved a bracelet from the space and handed it to Qin Kaize.
"You know how to use this. If you’re in danger, use it directly. It contains only anesthetics, so no need to worry about running out."
Though she also wanted to give Qin Kaize the gun she had won from a lottery, it was too large and not as convenient to hide. The bracelet, though designed for women, was small and easily concealed.
Qin Kaize took the bracelet, pulled her close, and shared a deep kiss. They kissed for two minutes before he reluctantly let go.
As Su Yijia watched him leave and listened to his footsteps fade, she sat on the bed feeling a pang of loneliness. She had never felt so alone before, and the separation from Qin Kaize made her heart ache.
Realizing how much she had fallen for him, Su Yijia sighed heavily and got up to take a shower. Back in her room, she continued to organize ancient medical books in the space. Although she initially intended to sleep there, she feared Qin Kaize might come back and find her missing. So she took her cooling blanket to the bedroom and used it as a cover.
That night, Su Yijia had trouble sleeping, while Qin Kaize followed Xue Qianhao to two locations. Even when Xue Qianhao went to a guesthouse in the early hours, Qin Kaize stayed outside, not leaving for a moment.
The next morning, Xue Qianhao was seen wandering around the city and even went to the local police station to inquire about the situation. During the day, he didn’t engage in any suspicious activities. Qin Kaize watched him board the ferry and only returned home on the one o’clock ferry, arriving at 1:20 PM.
Aside from the summer bugs chirping, the house was quiet, as if everyone was taking a nap.
