Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Anger

On the other side of the city in a military base, Commander Qui sat behind a desk in his residence while looking intensely at the device on the table.

It had been months since the last time a message came from this device.

At first he had thought that his elite squad had gone undercover, which was why he couldn’t reach them easily and they couldn’t send messages back.

However, he had recently found out that they had joined another base.

At the thought that the members of his elite team that he had poured so many resources into to make them stronger through experiments were now someone else’s soldiers, the blood in his veins nearly boiled.

In his anger, he picked up the device and smashed it hard on the floor, splitting it into numerous pieces.

He had just sent them to search for the catalyst core to help him grow his power, but those ingrates had turned on him and joined the enemy.

Thinking of the report he recently received, he was angry at himself for not acting sooner and eliminating those troublemakers before they grew strong.

Now, he wasn’t sure if they had already regained memories of their past lives like he had.

If only he had listened to his own advice and eliminated trouble before it became a real problem.

Now, those two commanders were beyond his ability to take out.

He heard that even the alien princess had sent some generals and soldiers to cause trouble but they were wiped out.

It went to show how much those two brats had become strong.

He also started suspecting whether they were the ones who had found the catalyst core.

Was it possible that their rapid growth in strength had something to do with it?

However, even though those two had been there in the ancient earth, they knew nothing about the catalyst core.

That was something that the aliens brought from their planet. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

There was no way humans knew about it.

But, what had they offered to make such loyal soldiers switch sides?

He had especially not expected Raze to switch to the other side.

With his temper, he should have fought with them for his loyalty if they even tried to recruit him

So, what exactly had happened?

Of course, Commander Qui would never suspect that the humans he was looking down on had the ability to use the catalyst core to conjure memories of the previous life.

They had used those memories to make his elite squad switch sides.

After all, they were soldiers who vowed to protect their country and a commander who sided with aliens to sell out humanity didn’t exactly scream ’loyal.’

Taking a deep breath, Commander Qui called out to the soldier guardian outside his door.

"Someone, come here."

A soldier wearing a faded military uniform with some patches on different places walking in immediately and saluted.

"Yes, Commander."

"Has there been any news from those traitors?" Commander Qui asked aggressively, causing the soldier to almost drop on his knees.

However, he steadied himself and spoke honestly.

"Nothing new. Just that after the last battle with the aliens, they haven’t done much and not many people are leaving the base."

Commander Qui listened with furrowed brows wondering why there hadn’t been any activity.

Did they suffer huge losses and now they were recuperating?

Or were they planning something else?

"Is there something they are specifically doing? Something that could tell us what they are really up to?" Commander Qui asked again.

"No, apart from going out for a few hours everyday to collect supplies, nothing unusual has been discovered." The soldier replied.

"Okay, you can leave now. If there are any new developments, tell me immediately." He ordered.

The soldier saluted and left.

Outside the door, he looked towards the horizon and wondered when he could join his brothers.

He really didn’t want to stay beside this crazy commander who colluded with aliens to take what rightfully belongs to humans and give it away.

He didn’t deserve the title of commander.

People were fighting with their lives to preserve what little humanity was left, yet he was busy selling out humanity to aliens for some personal benefits.

If not for their need to monitor his movements and prevent him from harming too many humans, the soldier wouldn’t have wanted to stay there.

Unfortunately, Ouyang Jin had told him to stay behind and stay close to Commander Qui.

If anything happens, he could send a message immediately.

Inside the office, Commander Qui took out a folder from a drawer on his desk and looked through the contents again.

He had checked it so many times he could tell where every character was with his eyes closed.

However, he was still not satisfied with the results.

That fire had set the back a long way in the experiment.

The test subjects they could find now weren’t as strong as the once before and their talent wasn’t as good.

He had been very satisfied with the test subjects who ran away from the lab, especially that guy who could turn invisible.

If he could transfer that ability to himself, he would be able to enter many places undetected and could gain more power.

However, now he couldn’t do it because of the carelessness of the guards.

The results of these new test subjects were less satisfactory.

Even the president, who was funding the experiment, wasn’t happy with the results.

If those traitors could come back, he would definitely use them for the experiment and extract their powers

However, for now he had to go and see that princess again.

He had promised to give results in a short while but he still had nothing.

Moreover, she had lost so many powerful soldiers, she was definitely not happy about it.

If not for the promise of the power to rule the world they had promised if he helped them, why would he want to work with such unreasonable aliens?
