Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 426: The Regenerating Zombie

"Cut it apart!" Ouyang Jin shouted.

Immediately after, all kinds of attacks came down on the zombie making it impossible for it to move even an inch.

Wind blades aimed at its arms, knives came flying slicing off flesh from its body, flames followed burning it inch by inch.

The creature was hit multiple times, its limbs severed and body torn apart.

However, every time a part of it was cut off, it would grow back at an alarming speed.

"This isn’t working!" someone shouted.

Leng Pan’s mind raced as she joined the battle.

Cutting it down wasn’t enough.

Destroying limbs wasn’t enough.

Even decapitation might not be enough.

"Core..." she muttered.

Lu Zhen heard her immediately.

"The crystal core."

Leng Pan nodded.

"It has to be the source."

"But it’s not in the head," Lu Hao said suddenly.

Everyone turned to him.

"It’s moving," he added.

This was the first time they had encountered something so bizarre. All the zombies they had fought before had their cores in the head.

However not only was this zombie’s crystal core not in the head, it was also constantly moving.

This made locating it and taking it out even more difficult.

No wonder this zombie had eliminated the others and remained here alone.

Leng Pan thought about it and decided to change strategies.

Attacking it randomly was never going to work because it could consciously move its crystal core to avoid danger.

So, they had to make sure that it didn’t get that chance.

For that to happen, the zombie had to be stationary as well.

Thus, Leng Pan immediately ordered.

"Stop attacking it randomly. Let’s pin it down and see if we can’t take out that crystal core."

Everyone reacted immediately.

Ouyang Jin created a tornado around the zombie, limiting its movement. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Those with metal abilities created chains and threw them into the tornado, wrapping around the zombie tightly.

"Pull." With an order from Leng Pan, those holding the chains pulled them hard and the zombie came crashing to the ground.

Before it could move, Leng Pan conjured ice spears and drove them into different parts of its body, pinning it firmly on the ground.

No matter how much it struggled, it couldn’t break free.

Now, its limbs weren’t severed, they were just pinned down, so it couldn’t grow new ones and escape.

She signaled to Lu Tao, who was holding his sword in an attack stance.

Upon seeing his sister-in-law’s signal, he activated his X-ray vision and checked the zombie thoroughly from head to toe.

He spotted the crystal core moving around and trying to hide again.

Without waiting, he moved closer to his sister-in-law and whispered in her ear where it was.

With a precise location, Leng Pan made two long swords from her water ability and brought them down in two places.

The crystal core had moved to the zombie’s thigh. It seemed that it had some intelligence and was hiding in a place where no one would be able to guess.

The two swords cut the zombie’s leg in two places. Cutting through the bone and separating the crystal core from the rest of the body.

Before the zombie had the time to regenerate, Leng Pan used one of the swords to pry open the part of the thigh that had been severed from the rest of the body and took the crystal core out.

At the same time, Lu Zhen threw a ball of crimson purple flames on the rest of the body and it was burned to ashes in seconds.

Only the crystal core remained on the floor.

Leng Pan squatted and picked up the crystal core. It was a darker color than most of the ones she had seen before.

She wondered if it could be used in different ways or if anyone with a different ability could absorb it.

"Everyone, hurry up and pick up more supplies. Space ability users, see if you can carry more. If not, leave the rest to me." She said as she looked around the building that still had many scattered boxes of processed food.

After clearing out the first building, the team moved to the next building.

Each building seemed to be a section of the processing plant that specifically dealt with a specific kind of food.

There were fruits, vegetables such as mushrooms, meat including fish and beef, and other types of food.

The team was in the middle of collecting boxes of canned pineapples and strawberries when they heard the sounds of fighting coming from the direction of the factory entrance.

That was where they had left the other half of the team as back up.

Lu Tao looked towards the direction of the fight and activated his X-ray vision then he froze for a second before speaking.

"Our team is in trouble. They are surrounded by a large group of survivors. About fifty of them and our people are already at a disadvantage."

When those still collecting supplies heard this, they immediately dropped everything in their hands and all ran towards the entrance of the factory.

They had to support their team members, otherwise they stood no chance of leaving this place alive let alone winning.

When the group of survivors saw more people coming from the factory, they paused for a moment, as if to determine if they should keep fighting or not.

However, when they realized that there were less than twenty people in total, they got cocky and decided to fight to the end.

However both Lu Zhen and Leng Pan had no intention of fighting with survivors unless absolutely necessary.

"We can share the supplies inside. There is no need for humans to turn against each other when we already have aliens and zombies as enemies. Don’t you think?" Leng Pan spoke first to see if she could negotiate with the other team and avoid wasting time and strength.

"Why should we share? There are more of us anyway and it doesn’t matter if we fight or not. You won’t win anyway." One of the members of the other team said cockily.
