Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 418: After the Storm
The sky burned with blinding light.
Three streams of power, crimson flames, golden lightning, and a raging vortex of water, collided with the gravity field protecting the portal.
For a brief moment, it felt as if even time had frozen.
Everything felt quiet.
The gravitational barrier shattered like glass under unbearable pressure. Waves of unstable energy rippled outward, tearing through the air around the portal.
The alien leader didn’t seem to have expected that at all. It had still underestimated human strength.
The combined attacks of the three members of the Lu family had far surpassed anything a single alien could handle.
Even if it had higher strength than them.
As the three energies slammed directly into the portal, the dimensional distortion caused by the force of gravity exerted by the alien leader began to collapse violently.
Cracks spread across the shimmering surface like a hammer splitting a mirror.
The alien silhouettes still inside the portal suddenly twisted and stretched as the gateway destabilized.
Some attempted to retreat while others tried to force their way through, just to leave the area of impact. None of them succeeded.
A deafening rupture echoed across the sky as the portal imploded inward, folding into itself and as the energy levels increased, it exploded outward.
After the blinding light faded, the portal was gone and so were the aliens who had been close to it.
Not even their ashes remained.
The three humans who had caused all this stood on top of the two dragons looking at the place where the portal had been.
Lu Zhen lowered his arm slowly, his flames flickering weaker now after the massive energy output.
Lu Hao hovered on the neck of the dragon, lightning fading gradually around his body.
Leng Pan also steadied herself on the water dragon as the last remnants of the water vortex dispersed into mist.
Below them, cheers erupted across the battlefield.
"We did it!"
"The portal is gone!"
"Kill the rest of them!"
The momentum of the survivors increased instantly. All of them behaving as if they had been injected with chicken blood.
Without the portal and reinforcements, the remaining aliens had lost their greatest advantage.
However, the leader of the aliens wasn’t too happy about this.
Its eyes burned with furious violet light as it stared at the three humans who had ruined its plans.
"You will regret this." The alien said.
Leng Pan hadn’t expected that even aliens knew the villain language.
Many villains died right after telling the heroes and heroines that they will regret this.
Now, the script was the same.
Even without doing anything, the air around the alien began to distort again.
The gravity field expanded outward like a crushing wave affecting several weaker fighters on the ground and forcing them to collapse.
"This one is desperate," Leng Pan muttered.
"Then let’s end it quickly." Lu Zhen said solemnly.
Leng Pan took out three bottles of water out of the space bangle and gave one each to her husband and brother-in-law.
She opened the last one and drank carelessly.
The other two did the same because they knew that it was spiritual spring water meant to help them recover some of their energy quickly to deal with the alien leader.
After they were done, the three of them moved at the same time.
Lu Zhen shot forward like a comet of fire. Lu Hao vanished in a flash of lightning, and Leng Pan’s dragon roared and dived toward the alien leader.
The alien released a violent gravity pulse. It seemed that this was its main attack mode and facing other enemies would be useful because it could crash them to meat paste without much effort.
Unfortunately, this time, things were different.
It was outnumbered and outmaneuvered.
Lu Zhen’s flaming blade struck first and the alien’s shield appeared instantly, blocking the strike, but cracks spread across it immediately.
Lu Hao appeared behind the alien a split second later and a lightning spear pierced through the weakened shield.
The alien twisted violently to avoid a fatal blow, but the attack still tore through its shoulder armor.
It howled in pain but before it could react, Leng Pan attacked it from the dragon’s back. Her tang sword glowed with condensed water energy as she slashed down, completely stripping off the alien’s amour.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Lu Zhen’s flame sword came down and cleaved at the alien’s chest like a hot knife cutting through butter.
There wasn’t a big bang. Just silence as the alien froze in disbelief, then pieces of its body began falling to the ground while still on fire.
Below them, the remaining alien soldiers watched their leader fall.
Something in their expressions changed.
Without command or coordination, they suddenly turned and fled in different directions.
"Don’t let them escape!" someone shouted from the ground.
But Leng Pan raised her hand.
"Let them go."
Everyone paused.
Lu Tao looked up from the battlefield with confusion.
"Why?"
Leng Pan’s voice remained calm.
"Don’t chase a cornered enemy. They might decide to perish together. Besides, we need them to bring back a message to their leaders. Earth is not an easy target. They will have to shade a layer of skin if they even want to stay temporarily." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
No one argued after that.
The surviving aliens disappeared into the distant sky within minutes.
And the second major battle with the aliens came to an end.
The battlefield below was a mess of shattered stone, scorched earth, and smoking craters.
The whole area where the battle had taken place was in complete devastation.
Buildings that hadn’t been knocked down by meteorites were completely gone now. Not even debris remained.
One couldn’t even tell there had been residential buildings there as only craters existed now.
Roads were completely wiped out. In fact, the whole landscape had changed.
However, this was also a sign of victory as human survivors.
They had fought a fierce battle against the invaders and won.
The fighters were so drained that most could barely move. Some collapsed to the ground from exhaustion.
Others simply sat in silence, staring at the sky where the fiercest battle had taken place.
