Chapter 385: Chapter 385: The Creepy Third Floor

Lu Tao immediately started observing their surroundings using his X-ray vision.

Soon, he found a large room, which should have been a resting lounge before where they could all take a break.

"On the third floor. There is a reception area connected to a huge lounge." Lu Tao whispered to Leng Pan.

Leng Pan nodded her head and continued forward, heading to the stairs.

The building was huge and had several elevators but for obvious reasons, they couldn’t be used.

Just like any other place in that testing center, the stairs were swamped with zombies.

Just as Leng Pan took the first step, the water serpent that had been leading and clearing the way for them hissed.

This was new, even for Leng Pan. The serpent was made of water and didn’t have a soul. So, how could it hiss as if it was alive?

Leng Pan thought that she was hallucinating and just kept channeling energy into the serpent to increase its strength so that it could clear all the zombies on the way.

The others got to rest since there weren’t zombies jumping out of hidden corners to ambush them by the side.

The only one working on overdrive was Lu Zhen. More and more zombies had been attracted by the commotion they made there and the smell of living humans.

As a result, there were thousands of zombies squeezing together and climbing over each other to enter the building.

Fortunately for Lu Zhen, he had also advanced to level five of superpower and could hold out for a long time.

The only problem was that the wall of fire he had created earlier consumed way too much energy due to its size and magnitude.

So, as he entered the stairs, he reshaped it to the first thing that came to mind when he saw his purple-crimson fire.

A dragon.

As the team went up the stairs casually, a huge dragon made of fire and spitting fire followed behind.

It would spit fire at the zombies that came close and somehow, it managed to use its claws to grab the crystal cores then behaved almost exactly like the water serpent.

It swallowed them into its stomach for storage.

Lu Zhen observed the way both the water serpent and fire dragon were behaving and a conjecture formed in his mind, but he didn’t dare to believe it, so he kept it to himself.

The group arrived on the third floor without too many issues.

However, the scene there surprised Leng Pan and the others following behind her.

"This place is weird." Someone from the team muttered under their breath as if afraid that something invisible would hear them.

"Mmm..." Leng Pan agreed with whoever made the comment.

The third floor was indeed the best place to rest but it was very weird.

The whole floor was clean. As if the last few months since the meteorite showered hadn’t happened.

You couldn’t see even a speck of dust on the floor or on the walls.

What made it even weirder was the silence.

It was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop in that corridor they had appeared in.

Lu Zhen turned the fire dragon into a fire wall again and blocked the entrance to the third floor on the stairs.

Now, no zombies could come from outside or the other lower floors and gain access to the third floor.

However, he also noticed the strange situation on the third floor.

He walked over to Leng Pan and grabbed her hand as if to comfort her and reassure her that he was there and he would protect her.

Truth was, Leng Pan wasn’t really afraid. She was just surprised by the situation there, but she appreciated the gesture.

"What do you think is happening here?" Lu Zhen asked, his eyes roaming around the entire floor.

The place was constructed like any other hospital.

There was a reception room immediately after entering the floor, then from there was a long corridor with doors on the sides after every few steps.

The lounge Lu Tao had mentioned was on the door to the left, directly connected to the reception area.

Heaven knows why the owner of the testing center had designed it that way.

Maybe the soundproofing was top quality, so even if the resting lounge was near the reception, the noise wouldn’t bother those inside.

But now the issue wasn’t the design of the lounge or the entire third floor, but the unbelievable situation of there being no dust whatsoever.

The chairs in the reception room were clean as if someone had wiped them that morning.

The corridor didn’t have any dust nor waste lying around.

There wasn’t even a piece of paper out of place.

The doors were shut, so you couldn’t see the inside of the lounge or the other rooms.

However, with how quiet the place was, it didn’t seem like there were human beings there. Not even zombies, since they would be growling and roaring, especially with so many humans intruding on their territory.

Leng Pan was quiet for a long time. So long that Lu Zhen thought that she hadn’t heard his question.

She let her gaze roam across the spotless corridor once more, as if to confirm her theory.

Her brows knitted together forming folds on her forehead that could hide a weapon.

’This is not normal.’ She thought to herself.

’Not in the apocalypse. Heck, even before the apocalypse, you couldn’t have come across such a clean hospital or any public building.

People come and go. So, there was no way to completely keep off the dust.

But things were different in that place.

Leng Pan stepped forward only for Lu Zhen to pull her back.

She turned around and smiled at him.

"It’s okay. I just want to check something." After saying that, she crouched down and placed her palm on the floor.

A thin layer of water spread on a small part of the floor, then she stepped back again.

The water she had made seeped into the microscopic cracks on the floor but not a speck of dust floated.
