She didn’t want them to feel as if she was giving them charity. But this only made them more grateful and they nearly went down on their knees again.
"If you kneel one more time, I will send you back to your old base. Maybe there they like people kneeling to them, but I don’t appreciate it.
We are all equal human beings. There is no need for you to feel inferior to others." Leng Pan threatened then reasoned with them.
Thus, the team finally calmed down and began preparing their meals.
Some hid the potion they had given for their children later and only took a bit of what they had prepared for the kids.
Leng Pan noticed this but said nothing. Even if she reassured them that they would have enough food once they go back to the base, they would probably not believe her.
So, it was better to let them see it for themselves.
That evening after a small supper, Leng Pan had one of the leaders in Juan Ke’s team lead the newly recruited survivors back to their base.
It was a bit far, but with a large group, they would make it before sunrise if nothing major happened on the way.
This was also because Lu Zhen and Leng Pan had led their team to clean up most of the zombies on that route. So, they wouldn’t have much of a challenge.
"Send me a message once you make it to the base. Also, send a message if you encounter trouble you can’t solve.
There are still reliable people left in the base, they will come to your aid within the shortest time possible once you ask for help." Leng Pan advised as she gave one of those watches Lu Zhen made to the appointed leader.
"Yes, Commander Leng." The leader saluted and accepted the watch, an indication that he had accepted the mission.
The leader of the team they had recruited en route drove the truck filled with supplies with some of the family members brought out of their base sat on top of the supplies.
The leader appointed from Juan Ke’s team got into one of their vehicles together with a few others who were also appointed to go back and lead the way.
After watching the team leave with the truck full of supplies, Leng Pan and the rest of the team continued with their journey.
The rest of the journey to the testing center was smooth. Only some zombies chased after their car and they were all taken care of by the team members.
The testing center was like a breeding zone for zombies.
There were so many that it was unbelievable. But this was an institution that employed a lot of people, so it wasn’t that surprising that many had mutated into zombies and maybe others hadn’t managed to escape and were killed later.
Leng Pan and her team fought their way into the testing center, killing zombies like flies.
Leng Pan spread the spiritual spring water mist around her like it cost nothing.
Zombies were melting into puddles of water and their skeletons disappearing into thin air.
Lu Zhen lit up everything around him, forcing the other teammates to fight far behind.
Leng Pan manipulated her water superpower and created a large serpent that seemed to come alive like the mimicry of her that she had created before.
The serpent floated in the air, coming down where zombies were concentrated and swallowing them like a real serpent.
Without losing momentum, the serpent changed shape and slid through the gaps of closed doors or windows spraying the zombies it came across with spiritual spring water and annihilating them without any opportunity to resist.
While Leng Pan displayed her prowess in the use of water ability, Lu Zhen created a wall of fire wherever a large number of zombies appeared.
Everything in its wake turned to ashes without exception. It did matter how powerful the zombie was, as long as the fire Lu Zhen released touched it, it would turn to ashes.
What made those following behind awed was how both the water serpent and fire wall seemed to have intelligence.
They would collect the crystal cores from the zombies they had killed and carry them.
Looking at the serpent made of water, it was transparent, so one could see through it.
Thus, it was easy to spot the crystal cores piling up in its stomach as if it had swallowed them.
As for Lu Zhen’s wall of fire, crystal cores could be seen along the fire wall as if it was a solid concrete wall embedded with precious gems.
As wave after wave of zombies surrounded the group, Leng Pan was forced to regroup because the others couldn’t keep up.
Once the group was back together, Leng Pan opened a path with the serpent leading and swallowing all the zombies in the way.
Once the energy was exhausted and the serpent began to evaporate, Leng Pan would add more water energy and solidify it once more. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Thus, the group moved forward unimpeded.
The other team members following behind Leng Pan fought and killed the zombies rushing towards them from the sides.
They had divided themselves into two teams with one side covering the left side and the other covering the right side.
Lu Zhen came in the rear with a wall of fire behind him burning all the zombies that rushed towards them from the back.
In this way, the group used teamwork until they made it to the main building where the latest equipment was kept.
"Let’s find a secure room to camp first. There are too many zombies here. We probably won’t be able to locate the machines that easily with the main building being so large." Lu Zhen suggested and Leng Pan felt it made sense.
"Alright. Let’s take a break first. We’ve had enough fights for one night." Leng Pan immediately agreed and turned to her brother-in-law.
She wasn’t about to start searching manually when she had a living radar with her.
