Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 378: Shocking Discovery
Hence, Leng Pan resumed speaking.
Just watching how she could casually create a soundproof mist, the team started to believe what Lu Tao said earlier about his brother and sister-in-law being very powerful.
"We are building an army that will face the zombies and aliens occupying our planet." Before Leng Pan could go further, someone stopped her.
"Wait...aliens?" He asked.
The others were also looking at Leng Pan like she was an alien herself.
Leng Pan looked at everyone’s expression and realized that they weren’t pretending, they knew nothing about the aliens.
She turned to Lu Zhen and asked, "Is it possible that such powerful people like that girl’s father knows nothing about the aliens or are they just keeping the survivors in the dark to avoid panic?"
Hearing this question, the team became restless.
"I am not sure. Maybe the news hasn’t reached them yet." Lu Zhen replied uncertainly.
"They know." Suddenly, the girl’s half-sister said. Causing all eyes to turn on her.
"A few weeks ago I came back from a supply run and got a high fever.
No one cared about me, so even when I didn’t leave my room, no one noticed. They thought I had gone out on a mission but I was locked in my room.
When I woke up, I wanted to get some water from the kitchen because I was completely dehydrated.
But as soon as I opened the door a fraction, I heard voices arguing in the living room.
I knew some of the voices, but I also found others unfamiliar.
Then I heard one of the unfamiliar voices say, "We should tell the people, that way they will be vigilant."
But another voice interrupted and said, "Do you think the concept of aliens is easy to accept? If we say anything, people will panic and stop submitting supplies or even stop going out to search for food. What then?"
I didn’t listen anymore and simply closed the door and forgot about the water.
But I have been thinking about what they might have been talking about that day, now I know."
"How is that possible?" How can they keep something so important a secret just because they will get fewer supplies?" The leader who had been composed all along asked angrily.
"That’s what I am talking about. We want to build an army that will resist and chase the aliens out of our world.
They are more challenging to deal with than the aliens and they are the cause of the constant changes in the weather.
If we manage to change them away, we can eliminate the zombies on our own terms.
We are recruiting people who are passionate about protecting their families because we know that they will not hold back during a battle.
Or those who simply want to do something meaningful in life.
We already have over a thousand people, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things, but it’s something.
Now, would you like to join us?" Leng Pan asked again.
"What about our families?" The leader asked.
"You can go get them and we will bring them back to our base. My little brother was serious when he said, we do not leave a teammate behind, no matter the situation." Leng Pan emphasized.
The team members looked at each other as if to digest the information.
The girl’s half-sister from earlier was the first to step forward.
"I have nothing to go back to. I will join you." She said straightforwardly.
The others weren’t surprised. After all, they had witnessed over time how she was treated even by her own mother.
It wasn’t an unreasonable choice for her to decide not to go back.
"I will follow you too. But I have to go back and get my wife and daughter." The leader also stepped forward and said.
His daughter was only two years old and if what Lu Tao said was true, that even formula milk was available, then he wouldn’t pass over such a good opportunity.
"We will go too." The others immediately made their decision.
There was nothing to hold onto in their base. They weren’t treated sincerely and after finding out about the aliens, they didn’t doubt that those leaders of the base would sell them out for benefits if they got the chance.
So, they weren’t going to stay there like fools.
"But, we bring in a good amount of supplies every time we go out. Will those greedy leaders let us go?" Someone from the team asked.
The room went quiet after that.
It was true that those leaders would never let them go so easily.
Leng Pan looked at them before coming up with an idea.
"Since they are so greedy, just use it against them." She said coldly.
"What do you mean, sister-in-law?" Lu Tao asked curiously.
"They like supplies so much that they would hide the news about aliens from everyone.
So, use the news about supplies to get your families out." Leng Pan suggested.
The people in the room looked completely lost.
Only Lu Zhen had a shallow smile on his lips. He understood what his wife wanted.
"Sister-in-law, can you please stop speaking in riddles and just say it straight away?" Lu Tao couldn’t think of what Leng Pan meant no matter how much he thought about it.
"What she means is, go back and tell your leaders you found a place with a lot of supplies. Ask for a big vehicle to bring them back then use the vehicle to smuggle your family out." Lu Zhen explained briefly and everyone felt as if they had been enlightened.
"That’s such a good idea. You not only get a car, but also bring the family out. Such a clever idea." A team member said while laughing.
"But what if they notice us moving the family?" Another member asked.
"Not all of you will go back. You guys just need to choose three people to go and inform the other families to prepare.
Then once you get the vehicle, have them meet at a designated spot to board.
