Chapter 377: Chapter 377: What Bachelorette?

It was basically a nightmare and the older sister had finally snapped.

Now, watching her usually entitled sister get snubbed, she felt gratified.

"Wife? Didn’t they say you are a bachelor?" The girl asked in between sobs.

"Who said my brother was a bachelor? Then what does that make my sister-in-law? A bachelorette?" Lu Tao asked jokingly but he earned a slap on the back of his head from Lu Zhen.

"She is my wife. What bachelorette?" Lu Zhen said firmly.

He could joke about everything else, except his relationship with his wife.

As he spoke, he pulled Leng Pan close and wrapped his arm around her waist as if to declare his sovereignty.

"God, Ah Zhen, it’s hot." Leng Pan said while pushing Lu Zhen to the side. But the man refused to let go and pulled her closer.

Leng Pan could only roll her eyes and stay still.

She had no plans of awakening his insecurities again. So, she just let him hold her.

The girl with tears in her eyes was humiliated to the point of attempting to run out.

"If you go out now and zombies tear you to shreds, don’t expect anyone to follow you and save you." Her half-sister said coldly.

The girl seemed to have found an outlet to vent and attacked her sister with hurtful words.

"Even if I run into the group of zombies you will still have to use your pathetic life to protect mine.

You are nothing but a burden mom doesn’t want yet you act like you have a lot of pride.

If you were so proud, why do you still live in our house? Always doing chores and cooking food you never even get to eat just to carry favor with mom so that she can look at your pathetic self.

Once we get home, I will have dad whip you for that slap you gave me. Let’s see if this time you will survive the whipping." She went on a tirade of insults and threats and everyone else in that room seemed like they were used to it and they said nothing.

The people who came in with Leng Pan were the ones shocked by this behavior.

"How did she survive all these months in the apocalypse? Why hasn’t anyone offed her?" One of the newly recruited team members in Leng Pan’s team asked while using her thumb to show the action of slicing the neck.

One of the team members from the other team heard her and replied softly.

"Because her father is one of the founders of our safe base and he has a lot of power. Also, he treats her like his own life, so no one dares to cross her."

Leng Pan heard everything and was disgusted by the girl’s behavior.

Not to mention that she was lusting after her husband.

She had no sympathy for such people.

"Would you all like to join our base?" Leng Pan asked loudly.

She wasn’t going to do it in secret. She would do it openly for that arrogant girl to see.

"Join your base?" The leader asked, surprised.

"Yes, join our base. At least our base treats everyone like humans. Moreover, I can assure you that there isn’t a safer base in this world.

My big brother is super powerful and so is my sister-in-law. We also have more powerful teammates and everyone is a teammate, instead of just survivors living in the same community.

We share resources equally for those we obtain together and the others that you find on your own, you get to keep everything.

We don’t abandon our teammates no matter the situation. Also, we don’t treat people like trash just because we provide a place for them to live.

You can bring your family, as long as they don’t cause trouble and can do light duties like cleaning the compound, helping with planting crops, when necessary, and other light chores.

If there are small children, don’t worry about formula milk, there is plenty.

You can judge by the way we look that we are doing pretty well.

The three of them joined us about two weeks ago and they looked more or less like you." Lu Tao went on explaining and when he got to giving examples, he turned to the new members of their team and apologized politely.

"Sorry for using you guys." He said.

"No problem. It’s the truth anyway." One of the members said with a laugh.

"Now look the way they are. Aren’t they better? Why do you have to stay in a place where you are constantly disrespected and belittled while still making contributions?" Lu Tao finally finished his speech.

The team looked at each other in awe as they listened to everything Lu Tao said.

They had never thought that there was still such a good place in the apocalypse.

Now people were using each other like goods.

When useful, they would be given alms, when they outlived their usefulness now that murder wasn’t illegal, they could just be killed.

If they could find such a good place, then they would be grateful. But is there such a good thing in this world?

"Why help us so much? Given your conditions, the fewer people you have in your base, the better." The leader was still clear-headed and asked.

"It’s good that you are not blinded by gains that might not even be true.

But in our case, everything my little brother said is true.

The reason we are taking more survivors in is because we are,..." Leng Pan turned to look at the girl from earlier and didn’t feel comfortable sharing something about their base with someone who would tell every last word to others.

So, she created a mist that separated the girl, who was still at the door where she had stopped while insulting her sister.

The mist was soundproof and the girl wouldn’t hear anything that was said on the other side.
